ChrisTaylor's review of Parsun F2.6 Four Stroker

“Corrosion problem with Parsun 2.6”

★★★☆☆

written by ChrisTaylor on 08/04/2012

I bought a Parsun 2.6 in November 2010 to replace my trusty Seagull 40+. It works ok, pushes my dinghy up and down the river but it has 2 major problems:
1) With the engine in tilt position, it locks up with oil in the cylinder - so if towing your boat for a little way you may have to wait for the oil to drain back down before it will start. There is no intermediate tilt position.
2) The leg has corroded very badly - it is still in warranty so I will try to get it fixed. It has been stored indoors, regularly rinsed in fresh water but already needs the paint stripping back and re-painting.
Apart from that the engine is ok, economic on fuel, plenty of power for its size, fairly quiet, easy to use.
If I knew it was going to corrode I would have looked elsewhere.
