Horrendous company, can see why they have so many 1 star reviews. Sent my gold sovereign in on Tuesday which arrived with them Wednesday morning, was told they'd pay my money on Friday, didn't. Was told this morning it'll be today, again they didn't and they're now closed. Beginning to believe they've taken my coin. Absolute shambles of a business.

“Prices doubled, complaint goes nowhere”

For the past 3 years I have used the Gocardless service, so most of my clients are now billed on the Gocardless system. It was easy and convenient for clients to use, and because the Gocardless pricing was simple and reasonable. I was therefore horrified that Gogardless will now double the rates I have to pay. This price hike means that I will likely have to first find a suitable alternative, and then move all my customers -- with all the upset and troubles, and probably loss of a number of customers, that this will entail. I have raised a complaint, but it seems Gocardless are sticking to their price hike. They don't seem to care or see how offensive and wrong their move is. I strongly advise against using Gocardless, because you can have no confidence in what they'll do next.

“THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU USE THIS COMPANY. ”

I have been using GoCardless for my business since 2012. When we first started using them they were a small start-up and we had remained loyal and supportive of them for over 7 years. Sadly their service today is nothing like it was in the past. Over the years there have been some issues with their service but they had generally been helpful in getting things fixed. However, they service today is absolutely shocking and I would urge anyone considering using the company to be extremely careful. It recently came to our attention that GoCardless had implemented something on their customer sign-up forms for customers to state that their bank account required multiple signatories. Hundreds of our customers had either mistakenly chosen this option or they had become aware of a loophole with the GoCardless payment system. It transpired that selecting the 'multiple signatory option' meant GoCardless were supposed to request additional information from customers prior to being able to collect payments. However, in our case, GoCardless incorrectly informed us that they were able to take payments even though the customers had not completed the additional process required by GoCardless. Consequently GoCardless kept informing us that payments had been collected when this was not the case. Hundreds of our customers were able to enjoy using our service without paying us anything due to the GoCardless error. The issue caused us a loss of over £22,0000. We brought the flaw to the attention of GoCardless who admitted the issue but have refused to compensate us or apologise for this serious error. This is what they told us: ------------------------ Following a further review of this issue with our Product team, we have discovered that we did experience a bug in the dual signatory process for mandates created before January 2018. When payers completed the online authorisation page via the redirect flow before January 2018, we sent an email to the administrator email on your account that stated that you would be able to collect payments from them. In fact, this was not the case, as the payer still needed to complete the dual authorisation step of their mandate setup. The issue was limited to one automated email with unclear messaging that stated the mandate was active and ready to have payments collected through it, where in fact it was still awaiting a second customer signature via the dual signature authorisation form before becoming active. Consequently, payments were, perhaps unknowingly, being created against mandates that were not yet able to have funds collected through them. ------------------------ We have stopped offering GoCardless as a payment option on new subscriptions and have very sadly had to instruct our lawyers to take action to recover our losses.

“Not what it used to be..... the decline of Rome”

The slow decline in service I suppose was inevitable. When Gocardless was a shiny new start-up full of enthusiastic focused people, it really was great! Sadly as they've grown they've become just another faceless, uncaring, oh-your-just-a-customer large payment processor. You can see this also in the relentless pricing increases. As they've become larger their customer retention ethos has gone out of the window. It does have to be said that the technical team have never failed me yet, and seem to have a can-do and here-to-help attitude (sadly lacking from the sales team). Introduction of new or improved services has dried to non-existent. With more and more payment processors entering the market, our advice would be shop around on a regular basis. We will be watching GoCardless over the coming months to see if they can rekindle that start-up mentality. The truth about the tech start-up revolution is there never was a revolution it always been: Company launches and it keen and enthusiastic Company has honeymoon period. Company becomes just-another-company. Company plods along just like any other large company. Company loses customers due to operational complacency. Company goes bust.

“I found a direct debit set up on my account to Go...”

I found a direct debit set up on my account to Go Cardless wedding gifts. Absolutely no idea who this is, or who set it up. Looks like anyone can decide to take money from your account these days. Just as well I check online banking, or who knows how much they would have taken without my authorisation!!!!

“Best for DD”

Direct debit is a pretty old system but Gocardless made it easy and modern. Everything is just really easy for me and for my customers now and I can take recurring payments without learning some complicated new system or paying a fortune!! It isn't instant and they don't do cards of course, they just do Direct debit really well. My bank wouldn't let me collect Direct debit unless I start taking thousands of payments a week and paying a fee! These guys are cheap and help little companies too. I called them and they helped me to set up but I felt silly for calling when I realised how easy it is. The one thing I don't like is that there is no link with QuickBooks but they told me QuickBooks are working on one in a few monthss.

“This company is terrible”

I have been with Gocardless.com for no more than 6 months, and its been utter terrible service. My account has been flagged 3 times or more in the 6 months that i have been with them, with the very latest loosing me money and also starting to effect the efficiency of my business. Witch is something im not willing to put at risk. For this reason i have been looking into other payment options to take DD payments from my customers who use this facility within my business. I would not at all recommend this service to any of my corporate customers or indeed to anyone else. I would almost certainly seriously conciser other service providers before going with these guys. This the latest security check that i have had to date. 1. They have placed a restriction on my account until "MY" customer can verify how much (under £1) has been placed into "MY" customers bank account. It is then up to "MY" customer to contact "MY" payment processor (Gocardless) to confirm the amount. I understand and accept that security is a must when collecting payments and payment data, but Gocardless really do take the *BEEP* when it comes to this taking things to the extreme. I wont be using them at all ever again and any future DD instructions will be setup using our new payment processor. So long and "FAREWELL" to Gocardless.

“Can't accept credit cards”

I was recommended to use GoCardless for my online business. However, I found that few people wanted to give out their bank details for payments and GoCardless did not allow me to accept credit and debit cards, so it has not been of much use to me.

“Go Cardless = go moneyless”

Terrible idea - very very very slow payments into your account if it ever gets there- I lost £320 through a misdirected direct debit and some banks don't accept dd from them. My bank refused to recognize the dd from go cardless leaving me out of pocket.

“Low cost, straight forward and good support”

I struggled finding payment system for my lottery syndicate...until I found GoCardless. They only offer secure direct debit but... 1% charge for every transaction, no chargeback fee, easy to contact staff and easy to set-up. GoCardless is the only payment option that gave me the least hassle so far. None so far actually.
