Very Low Quality Radiators

I would not use this company again, that seems more worry about positioning their websites radiator4u.co.uk, columnradiators4u.co.uk, castironradiators4u.co.uk ...instead than ensuring a good quality product and service.

Very disappointed with the whole experience, it has taken more than a month of emails, deliveries and arranging contractors and over £500 in costs to get a very low quality radiator

Dear Sir/Madam,

I’m extremely upset at having to write this and spend even more of my valuable time Writing yet another email. The level of service from your company is laughable and extremely unprofessional. We ordered the radiators relating to the order number listed over 10 days ago. At the beginning we had been told 2-3 days, Friday came and went with no delivery and a day wasted on the phone to you guys. On Monday I was told no one should have said 2-3 days and I was guaranteed a delivery today which is Friday 29th of October. After speaking to your staff multiple times today and them continuing the trend of moving the goal posts I’m still waiting for my guaranteed radiator deliver at 6pm. Yet another day wasted more time lost and yet another email being sent. I’m going to guess no response from your abysmal company. I fear the worst for my fantastic customer and having to break the news of yet another let down making my company look like a joke. I would never ever use your company again and pray we never cross paths. I wish an immediate response from someone that has the power or ability to tell the truth about what’s going on . I will be writing reviews on every platform known to man and hopefully no one else will fall short on your poor information. Thank you from a disgruntled company and a freezing cold customer.

Shocking Customer Service - Do Not Use

Shocking experience. I ordered 6 radiators online - initially sold as 24 hour delivery, it transpired 3 separate manufacturers.

When I eventually managed to coordinate delivery, I hired Pimlico Plumbers to install the radiators and booked a day off work. One of the radiators had a leak on the sealed end. I had to coordinate a replacement and book more time off work. After dealing with 3 individuals (2 of whom ‘left’ the company after prolonged correspondence) who promised to ‘look into reimbursing me AFTER I returned the faulty radiator - I was advised any faulty goods and associated costs are explicitly excluded within the website T&C. In fact, the Pimlico plumber advised me as an experienced professional, it was impossible to identify the leak ahead of a full refit.

Having spent well over £2k on 6 radiators, I am left £216 out of pocket, countless hours wasted on seeking the company to meet me halfway. I even escalated this to Jill Saddington, Asst General Manager, who has refused to recognise the issue.

I therefore conclude this is a highly cynical company - a sales front/ online company only - not prepared to take ownership or responsibility for any issues with the radiators they sell. And the quality evidently does not match the price. Falling back on small print in website T&C with no customer service is not treating customers fairly. Frankly these guys are presenting as something they are not. DO NOT USE. THERE IS NO QUALITY GUARANTEE to match the price.

And I will be taking this further. Frankly shocking.

Beware Of Cost Of Returns

I purchased a radiator and when it arrived the radiator was too big. I ordered a smaller size and even though the same delivery man delivered the new radiator and collected the incorrect radiator on the same day I had to pay for the return delivery which was in excess of £30. The website is very unclear about charges for exchanges and major high street DIY stores or indeed local DIY stores apply goodwill with regard to delivery costs for exchanges. Some four weeks after the radiator was returned I am still waiting for a refund. I have been told it has been processed. I would not recommend using this company for the reasons given. The customer service advisor I spoke to was unsympathetic to the fact I was still waiting for a refund some 4 weeks later and the company had chosen to charge a exchange delivery fee blaming their delivery company. Most business models absorb such costs on behalf of their customers.

The website should be clear that there is a delivery cost for exchanges and refunds take a month to be processed.

After reading the review we have held a internal investigation to see what we could have done better relating to your comments.

Reference your challenge with the collection fee.

This is something that is controlled by the couriers we use, and there are separate processes for a collection and a delivery. We do not charge for delivery of our radiators but when radiators are ordered incorrectly we do have to charge for a collection the same as if you were to return an item there would be a courier cost involved. If the radiator had been faulty or in anyway delivered incorrectly due to an error caused by us the collection would have been free.

We offered to arrange the collection for you as it is normally less inconvenience for our customers and normally cheaper.

You mentioned high street vendors and the way there returns are dealt with this because you are able to physically return the items yourself. We are a online company so return procedures are different as we do not have a shop you can hand the item over to.

Reference your Refund

We are very sorry that there was a slight delay in getting your funds back to you and I have passed this to the manager of our accounts team to make sure this does not happen again. The law states we do have 14 working days to refund and it did take us 16 we are very disappointed that we have failed you in this way.

Dubious Quality Control, Slow To Resolve Problems.

I ordered 4 column radiators to heat a new basement level of our house. They were from their clearance section so they only limited stock of each radiator. An initial inspection seemed to show no damage and the rads were fine. Upon fitting them my plumber pointed out one of the rads had a problem with the threads. I phoned up and sent an email with photographs showing the problem. Over a week later they finally got round to sending me a tool so that I could rework the radiator. This didn't solve the problem. They eventually agreed to send me the next size of radiator as a replacement even though I had suggested this within days of reporting the first problem. (They didn't charge me more for the larger rad which I thought was a nice touch.) The larger radiator had exactly the same problem as the first. The threads had been made to a different size, more like 3/8's rather than the 1/2" standard. So it obviously had not been checked before dispatch. 5 weeks after contacting them about the first issue they agreed to refund the money I had paid. So a 5 week delay in getting my heating installed and commissioned. I've now ordered another radiator with a competitor which came quickly, with superior packaging and no problems. I should have done this from the start.

As you stated in your review we did try many avenues to get the challenges sorted but unfortunately in regards to your order these trouble shooting methods did not work leading to us having to give you a full refund. I also understand the frustration that would have been caused in length of time taken to sort your challenges, this was a new challenge for us so dealing with this query was a new investigation line to open which did mean it took slightly longer to try and resolve. Moving forward we have introduced more detailed checks on any of our stock to ensure this type of challenge does not happen again.

Why Go Anywhere Else If You Want A Column Radiator?

Column Radiators, you either care about these things or you don't. If you do then these guys will almost certainly have what you're looking for. But there's more. If you're shopping online for one of these things it's because you don't have the time or the inclination to trawl the bathroom stores and plumbing suppliers in your area looking for the perfect radiator. You want to pick one and have it delivered with as little fuss as possible. Isn't that the promise of internet shopping after all? Well yes, but sometimes it can go wrong and when it does, as it did in my case, the good people at ColumnRadiators4U will not stop until the problem is resolved.

There are many online retailers that promise excellent customer service. It's an easy promise to make since the vast majority of customers never experience problems. These guys deliver and they do so without charging a premium for the privilege. Why go anywhere else?
