“ALDI Customers are Not Bar code scanners! Stop Misleading!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Lorenai225 on 23/08/2017

ALDI prize themselves on Selling product Cheaper and better, a fast and ever growing company. But are they Misleading customers over price? After a humiliating experience of finding I had been overcharged twice the price for a product in the New Leeds ALDI Regent street store and an assistant manager telling me and forcefully showing me buy forcing another box of products into the same wrongly priced shelf hole, “I’ve done consumer law too and it does not matter where we put it as long as the bar codes are correct!”  ALDI customer service stated under some spurious 2015 law as long as their products hold the correct bar codes they somehow can be put anywhere even if the price showing is incorrect! I contacted ALDI customer service back and again their ALDI UK Mr Giles Hurley Managing Director the later has failed entirely to respond to the aggressiveness of the ‘Assistant manager’ who totally humiliated me in-front of my colleague and about 15 other shoppers etc and why ADLI feel we the Consumers / Shoppers are Computers able to scan Bar codes!? I explained to ALDI Customer service and ALDI UK Mr Giles Hurley Managing Director that Consumer protections regulations state Misleading selling practice are Not permitted. That Your incorrect prizing in this store is consistently wrong we have since found, and misleads customers to pay far more, From Cheese Cake to Mouthwash etc. After being ignored further from both ALDI UK Mr Giles Hurley Managing Director and further from ALDI customer service I have reported this store to Trading standards over Consumer protections regulations state Misleading selling practice are not being upheld properly. I have also reported this store over their   assistant manager who was very rude, bullying, condescending and intimidating indeed humiliating to me in front of approx 15 shoppers etc  including my Colleague who stands as a witness.   I am not happy with ALDI initial Customer service response and I sincerely feel that ALDI selling practices are misleading. I asked appropriately if they were a member of a ADR scheme ? Plus Do ALDI have a complaints process? Both with the Misleading selling practices they chose to Ignore! Indeed its the very first time any company CEO / Chief Executive and their PA etc have chosen to Ignore my Concerns which says a lot about this company how it values my Custom!

“Aldi supermarket have reduced, i.e 'downsized' the...”

written by caveatemptor1955 on 22/07/2017

Aldi supermarket have reduced, i.e 'downsized' the size of (340 gram) jars of it's own brand 'Grandessa' (smooth) peanut butter. This was discovered after purchasing a jar of the product on 4 July 2017. However it is still labelled as 340 gram, and still the same price 0.99 pence. I wrote a letter to them about it and they replied by stating some gobbledygook about the jars conforming to an EU standard, relating to an average size of product over a range of the product. And nothing about the actual issue of underweight jars of product being sold to the unsuspecting public. That has the hallmarks of the modus operandi of a 'Rogue Trader'. Which is not regulated or policed properly as a consequence of the government's 'austerity measure' cuts in public spending; and local authority funding (consumer protection etc).

i have shopped at aldi for many years now and you get to know and like products. all this time i have bought beautifully buttery margarine...over the last few months it has changed.it has a strange and very strong smell totally different from before.,so have started to buy marg from corner shop which is silly as i get all else at aldi. what have you done to this product as it really is horrible now...still waiting for air conditioning as it gets so hot in the shop in summer. .

“too hot to shop”

well as i predicted the thought of shopping in aldi in this heatwave proved too much i have succommed to shopping online at tesco. such a better experience. aldi lost a 100 pounds off me this week. if the heat carries on i will use online again. tesco bread was far better but overall i missed the usual things i buy at aldi. and the shop cost me 20 pounds more but i didn t have to sweat in the shop and come home feeling awful. so take note aldi im sure there are many like me. nina m.

i have used aldi for years now and am very happy with quality and prices but please. have just been to my local store at sudbury suffolk and all the customers and staff were very uncomfortable with the stifling heat in there. a member of staff recorded a temperature of 80 degrees. surely this is not acceptable. with all the profits aldi makes it is time to make a little comfort for customers. have also noticed their bread moulds quickly in summer. if the hot weather goes on i may have to use waitrose for a cool shopping experience. please do something about it. nina m

“Management problems”

★★★☆☆

written by on 05/04/2012

The store at 4710 University Drive, Huntsville, AL has been open for a few months now, can't being to tell you how excited I was to finally get a store in Huntsville, rather than driving to Decatur, AL for shopping there. I am VERY disappointed in management at the University Drive store. I shop different days and times of the day, there is always a long line of customers trying to check out with only ONE Cashier on line. I was there yesterday 3/17/2012 around 2:00 PM, same thing. FINALLY the Assistant Manager (I was told) opened a register. I was told the Managers name is Kenny, if he was there, he didn't come out. The last two times I shopped there, either the egg rack or skim milk rack has been empty with a full rack behind, but no one to change them out. Customer just open the door to go in and get what they need. I have also encountered a problem with keeping produce properly stocked, customers having to remove empty boxes, scavenging around to find items needed. I was told by the cashier three people had quit recently and was having problems filling those positions. Personally, I'm ready to quit shopping at this store until changes/improvements are made. Thanks you, Marie Handley

“Best Value and Quality i have ever seen in a store”

written by on 14/03/2012

Me and My GF went to alda's because we needed to cut down or spending on shopping, and we thought that aldi's was a good shop to try. What we was Excepting was Far and away from what we got the food is Excellent and the products are just as good as the Orginals. We bought Cheese Curls and Prawn Cocktail Melts and they are so close to the Real Crisps eg Quavers and Skips it is Amazing if not better tbh. But the Best thing we have found out so far is the Brooklea Thick & Creamy Yogurt, this stuff is Unbelievable how good they are and when they mean thick they mean thick! i held a tub upside down over my Gf's Daughters head and it didn`t even Budge Brilliant! on that side though we have only tried the Strawberry one, the Raspberry and Mango and Passion fruit we have to try in the Fridge. There Veg is Very good and Biscuits, Bread, and Tiger Rolls are brilliant. I would Recommend this Shop to anyone i meet. For a Full Trolley of food our food bill cost only £60,

“Decent quality,cheap prices.”

★★★★☆

written by SusanH67 on 04/03/2012

Irecently abandoned Tesco for Aldi. I reckon I am easily saving £25+ every week on my family shop.I have never been a brand-person and I find most of the Aldi goods as good as or better than Tesco own brand and hugly cheaper. The offers/prices on the fresh produce are fantastic. The household goods are fine. We love their olives, some of the wine is good. I even changed to their Lacura skincare. The fact that all stores are laid out in a similar fashion and the lack of choice (e.g. one sort of Branflakes) means that shopping is faster. Checking out can be stressful - no time to pack or chat just stack the goods back in your trolley as if you are against the clock - but I am used to that now. There are less staff than a mainstream supermarket but they all seem to do everything and work very hard. I would not return to doing my main shop at one of the Big Four supermarkets. I couldn't afford to!

“Went in Aldi today just to get a few bits and I didn't...”

written by on 26/02/2010

Went in Aldi today just to get a few bits and I didn't get a troley as I was thinking I'm only gonna get some eggs, butter and cocoa powder,it was nt worth to change up a tenner for that as the troly is on a coin basis and I was gonna pay by card anyway.in the shop I realised that I want some other bits aswell and went to the cashier and got a bag as they don't offer any baskets I thought i'll put everything in the bag.i couldn't find the cocoa powder and decided to ask the shop assistant, this rudly alleged that I'm trying to steal and ordered me to get a troly!i was shocked, but I was thinking that i'll just get my last item and make my way to the cashier.i've told him that I just want to know if they have any cocoa powder,so he started shouting that I'm nt listening to him and ignoring him!he then said to get a troly or I can't shop there!he could have offered to hold my items till I get one of those important trolys and perhaps stop shouting like a prison warden!after I paid for the goods,i asked to speak with the manager and suprise!he was the manager!i might have been wrong in using the bag before check out,but surely this is nt they way of treating customers!very dissapointing experience from mr Dragan!i Usualy do my weekly shopping at Aldi on london road, generaly happy with my purces,in the past did get bad vegetables as cucumbers gone bad, didn't realise till home as they didn't have a best before date and moulded salami still in date, paper shredder that worked for 10min,waiting in the q for 15min as there was only 1cashier always(they never have more than one!) this didn't bother me as such..so continued shopping there till today!thanks Aldi but No thanks!

written by john sharpe on 18/02/2010

Bought an electrical item(Dart power bread knife) it worked for 6 weeks then things went wrong. Took back to shop, was met with a negative attitude told to contact Head Office , did so and went back to shop met again with a negative "the customer is always wrong" attitude. But I actually got my money back as the Area Manager was supposed to have told the shop to pay back the money. I don't think he had but the threat was enough, now it cost me more in time, fuel and energy than the item was worth I didn't get an apology either. I think the staff are Androids. I wish I had known obout the charmless staff I would not have shopped at Aldi and obviously will not in the future.

“I have always been happy with shopping at Aldi stores,...”

★★★☆☆

written by on 31/07/2009

I have always been happy with shopping at Aldi stores, upto the last three visits, this has never happened before in all the years I have used your store. The first incident happened three weeks ago after going through check out and paying by debit card, the cashier threw my receipts into the bin, I had to ask for them, the second event was the same, having to ask for my receipts, on the third occasion I was charged for an multi-buy crisps put it back into my trolley, at the end of my groceries being checked out the cashier picked up the crisps out of my trolley and cashed them up again, I told him he had already charged me for them, he checked his list and apologised. As I have said I have never had any other problems at any of your stores and find this action concerning.

Sorry to hear that but consider that cashiers are also only humans and sometimes make mistakes. It was a bad luck that it happened to you couple times in a raw. Maybe the person was new to the store and didn't have enough experience...
