I purchased a heater from Electraheat for my babies bedroom. A man turned up in a silver mercedes to deliver the product. The box was already opened and looked like it had been dragged through a bush backwards. The man looked like a Delboy and Rodney wheeler dealer. I didn't feel comfortable having him in my house. The next day I had my electrician come to fit the heater - he said he woudn't as it was a foreign plug. I described the process and he said it sounded a bit dodgy. I tried to contact Mr Chris Gunn over several days to get a refund but he said I wasn't entitled to one. I spoke to Citizens Advice and Mastercard who fought my case and I received my money back. It took 3 months but worth it. Do Not Buy from this website.

Unfortunately, I am forced to write this on the basis of the service that I have so far received from Electraheat (electric heater products) in the hope that I can help people can take an informed view when thinking about buying from them. I selected this company and their electric heater products mostly because they were the cheapest, which I am now kicking myself about, but hey-ho. I purchased these heaters at the end of last summer (Sept 2011) in time for the winter. They didn't arrive until the January (2012), some 4 months later, well into the cold winter period. The control panels hadn't arrived either by this point which took another month of chasing (end of Jan 2012). No useful instructions have come with the control panels and therefore these still aren't installed. The owner has fobbed me off saying 'look on their website' but that is utterly useless. At least on this subject I have received a response. About 3 months after installation, one of the heaters has leaked all of its oil. Fortunately this was over a laminate floor, a carpet would have been ruined. I have now been chasing for a month and a half to get this heater replaced and I receive not return calls from the owner. The receptionist is very nice, but clearly she has no impact as I have left at least for messages with her, untold (tens) of messages on the answerphone of the owner, and countless emails. I am at the point now where I am going to go through the painful process of legal action as this is now too much. In all, the product and the company have been woefully inadequate. Do not buy from these cowboys.

How is this company still operating?!? I had a terrible experience of them two years ago, and discovered today that they are still going. (Name removed) has not changed one bit. He took my money and basically disappeared.
To cut a long story short, I received nothing after paying nearly £3,000 up front for heating a rental property. I eventually got a refund after nearly three months but living outside of the UK made this very difficult and very expensive.
Don't pay this company a penny until they deliver your goods!!!

Really? Who are you as we have no association with anybody trading under any previous name. Perhaps you can state specifically what your issue was.

I feel your pain. I purchased a heater for my babies bedroom. After what I can only describe as a 'Delboy' turned up in his Mercedes to drop off the product I saw the bashed up box and a foreign heater. I called the owner for days before I got a response. I spoke with Citizens advice and Mastercard have refunded me the money. I wish you luck in your refund journey.
DO NOT TOUCH THIS WEBSITE. WHEELER DEALER.

I think that the company is still listed at companies house as active.
I placed an order for 4 heaters with the company and they failed to deliver on time. They agreed to refund my deposit but to date have not done so. I am going through the legal process at present. The owner of the company just refuses to take any of my calls. I did manage to speak to him when I used a different phone and he did not recognise my number but I gained nothing, he was just unpleasant. Since then the only communication I have had from him has been abusive. Do not buy from Electra Heat.

This woman wouldn't know a quality heater from a wooden post! It was delivered personally to make sure that it didn't get damaged. This woman then said she wanted it installing into an old storage heater point, and she was told that the plug would have to be cut-off, so that the wires could be connected. Her so-called electrician said it would invalidate the warranty! - How & why?

Your electrician is right. Electra Heat are wrong.
It is illegal to sell electricals in the UK which have foreign plugs attached. Anyone doing so can be prosecuted. There were countless fires last year due to this.
The Plugs and Sockets Regulations define the requirements. They forbid the supply of electrical appliances for domestic use with a foreign plug. Either a BS1363 plug must be fitted, or a foreign plug supplied - already fitted with an adaptor that can only be removed with a tool.
