Dave Whitton of Scottish BBC TV and Radio recording band THE CLYDESIDERS has just picked his old Yamaha Acoustic from Steve and WHAT A DIFFERENCE ! Work done at reasonable price and very much to my satisfaction! A real find in Felixstowe Suffolk - well worth any travel to his workshop !

I bought the above model from Amazon,and on opening the box the guitar had rusty strings and very discoloured rusty frets from fret 12 to 21, so returned to Amazon who sent me a replacement, same model/colour etc, which I immediately took to Guitar Lodge, on inspection he found this second guitar had loose frets! high frets! a badly cut nut! (All these faults are down to Fender not Amazon) Anyway he did a full set up, reset all the loose frets,dressed & polished the frets, set the action/intonation pick up height,fitted a new Tusq nut,cut correctly, cleaned and polished the guitar, which now plays like a dream !! This is definately the place to take your guitar if you want it to play at its very best ! Many Thanks

I cannot thank you enough for the refret on my '93 PRS which came back last week, been in my hands non-stop since & plays like Buddha! I bought the guitar a few years back & it needed a re-fret then so I'd never had the joy of playing it as it is now & probably playing better than when it left the factory, you have done a sterling job here, masterful in all aspects & your attention to detail is stellar. For those of you out there who have possibly watched one too many stew mac videos & thought "Refretting? I could do that!" DON'T! Leave it to artists like Steve who have a wealth of talent & experience & will treat your guitar like a diva at an oceanside spa. Guitar is collected & returned by courier door-to-door & communication from guitar lodge is just a call or email away for any questions. I was also pleasantly surprised that the bridge was fully serviced & cleaned, as were all the other moving parts, and a thorough guitar clean as well, Thank you!

After some thorough online research I sent my strat to the person I dealt with for a refret - an understandably nerve-wracking experience after our ten years together. Thankfully I had absolutely nothing to be nervous about. His communication was first rate, with prompt replies and finding out exactly what my specifics were before the job started. He also organised collection of the guitar at no hassle to myself, making the whole thing very streamlined and easy. When the guitar came back (within a shorter time frame than I'd expected, and less than the original estimate) he had done a perfect job - fantastically finished and set up and beautifully installed new stainless steel frets. Genuinely gave my tired old strat a new lease of life. Not only would I absolutely recommend him, but further I will definitely be using him again to sort out one of my other guitars.

I wanted to replace the old frets on my Ibanez RG guitar with stainless steel frets and found GuitarLodge through an internet search as a possibility. After discussing the work I decided to go ahead and have the frets replaced with Jescar stainless steel jumbo frets - the best decision I ever made! The quality of workmanship is better than from the factory, and the turnaround is fantastic. I was so impressed that I have just had the same refret treatment to another similar guitar. I have been taking my guitars to this place for some years now. Like all players I'm sure a fair amount of genre swapping has occurred and the person I dealt with has dealt with all from telecasters, jazz guitars and a fair amount in between with unabated enthusiasm and flair! His knowledge Is second to none and like all professional services; it's not how the manual says it should be done it's how you would like it to play!! I really can't state how welcome this is, absolutely no hesitation in recommending anyone who has a guitar that doesn't play right to them to come here first. Living in Ipswich I thought I would to travel back and fro to London for a Luthier but by chance looked on the Internet and was amazed when I found Guitar Lodge and that it wasn't far away it was in Felixstowe. After calling I felt really confident and excited that I found someone who would assist me in looking after my babies. On visiting the location which is setup in a shed in the back garden seemed more an easy experience than a shop on a busy high street. Have being to the location a number of times now and had various amount of work done and either speaking on the phone or corresponding via text or email I have found Guitar Lodge to be reasonably and fairly priced. I had ordered a Jackson USA Model RR1, which to all intents and purposes was my 'dream' guitar. The only thing missing was active EMGs which I love. I left the RR with Guitar Lodge to fit them, fairly standard stuff really. However, like the USA Custom (EMG) models I wanted a proper 9v battery box in the back. Not just a battery stuffed in the control cavity. Needless to say Guitar Lodge did a superb job of routing out the necessary compartment and fitting the parts. Along with fitting flushmount straplocks and a set-up it is absolutely the best guitar for me ever. Many people have asked me whether it is in fact a USA Custom shop, so it always gives me a certain amou,nt of pleasure when I say 'no, it was done in Felixstowe!' I would thouroughly recommend anyone to Guitar Lodge, and always look forward to visisting the workshop and having a chat. Fantastic work, great attention to detail and everything done on time!

Arranged to have my Guild 301 bass re-fretted, new pickup, strings and set up. absolutely superb workmanship,frets polished to perfection. Now plays and sounds as it should. Booked in my Mexican bass, which is around 5yrs old, for new strings and set up, and the difference in playability was amazing. Had my 20yr old fender stratocaster frets stoned, polished, new strings and set up. playability has vastly improved. Just had to put my 12 string Vox Phantom in to have new strings and set up. Although a quirky guitar now plays as it should. From booking in to receiving back, extremely efficient and professional service, reasonably priced and highly recommended.
