I only got as far as the quotation and found the gentleman taking the details dispondent and unenthusiastic. I had already explained on the telephone that a restoration was needed - new blocks taken from a nearby room (as it says they do, on the web site) but it was "a lot work". They didn't even get back to me with a quote after promising this within 48 hours. A waste of both of ours time. I actually managed to restore my floor myself which I didn't want to do... what is the matter with these people, when people are willing to spend money?!

We have just had Flooring First finish the refurbishment of our timber floor. The floors are now complete to a reasonable quality but our experience of working with Flooring First is that they can't communicate, can't work in a professional manner and have cost us additional money repairing damage they have caused. On the first day the team that arrived were rude, unable and unwilling to communicate with us, the client. They didn't introduce themselves or even greet us. They then failed, due to poor language skills and a lack of professionalism, to engage us in a conversation as to the specifics of what we wanted for our floors. I left after spending an hour trying to convey these requirements to the team with a foreboding sense that the job would not be done well. That evening I returned to the house and was disappointed to find several issues such as the use of screws in a surface nailed floor, which resulted in splitting of replacement boards and overall poor appearance. There was also poor use of pine slithers that resulted in hotpotch filling of gaps between boards. Excessive glue and mess. Boards not replaced that should have been etc. The job continued in this manner despite conversations and reassurances from more senior figures at Flooring First. Having completed the job, Flooring First did not allow any inspection time and did not even remove the edging tape on the skirting boards. Upon pulling the tape off it ripped the paint of all of our newly painted skirting boards, something we were not informed would happen. Information that had we known we could have brought the painters in after the floors were complete and avoided. After the job was completed and we were invoiced it became clear that the total on their initial quote where all costs were considered final, was actually incorrect by £300. So the final bill was another £300 higher, despite the damage. To conclude Flooring First are aggressive and dismissive of client opinions and complaints. Our advice would be to use another contractor more able to understand the importance of a client's own requirements, more willing to engage a client and those that possess sufficient language skills to hold a conversation.

Do not ever use flooring first. We have had the most awful service from them. After phoning, emailing with photographs etc with our grievances they don't even have the courtesy to call us back but instead send arrogant emails claiming our complaints are not warranted and after all the hard work they put in, it is "disappointing" to receive complaints like this. Not even one courtesy phone call and we cannot get through to them after several attempts. Yes we made the mistake of paying them before we had fully checked our floor but we were abroad and felt it was right they were paid rather than waiting weeks until our return. They sanded our kitchen and hall floor and re-oiled them whilst we were away. After specifying clearly we wanted the same look and feel as the existing floor which was in very good condition. On our return we find: - the floor has been sanded down by 4 millimetres in places to the point where the skirting boards are now higher than the floor -the sanding has been done unevenly so the floor now has some areas that are higher then others - the groove for our bifold doors was once flush with the wood, there is now a large lip in places (not evenly due to the uneven sanding). This looks odd and is dangerous for tripping -the sealant between the bifold door and floor has been removed and not replaced -the sealant that goes around our island and skirting boards has been removed and not replaced -the White skirting boards have oil that cannot be removed all over them in places - the colour of the floor is very very light and does not match the rest of the kitchen The colour now does not match the oak work tops that are also fitted in the kitchen despite our specification that it does. - some of the knots in the wood have been removed (and look ghastly instead of giving the wood character) due to the rigorous sanding. I don't know what annoys me more, all the poor workmanship or the poor after service care and customer service. Feeling very sad about it and can't believe they are not even trying to put it right with a phone call or visit. (But then we were also stupid to have paid them!) so please whatever you do, do not use them and spread the word!

I had Flooring First in to sand floors in two rooms and lay a new solid oak floor in one room. It has been one of the pleasantest experiences I've ever had of a building company: - the office are extremely well organised and professional. Their computer system is well updated so whoever you speak to knows what is going on and you don't get passed from one person to another. They actually respond to emails! - the prices are very fair (we got 4 quotes and FF were cheapest) - the team were able to come out very quickly and fit round my timetable - the quality of the work is beautiful. The two men who came round to do the floors listened to what I wanted, understood the issues as soon as I explained them, and then just got on with the job very quickly and professionally. I will definitely use FF again - can't think of a single complaint!

This company is a disgrace. And to top it all off the above review by d kolarov is a total fake as he is the director of flooring first. I would strongly advise caution with this company. Any company thats writes its own reviews says it all really.
