I have a few pairs of Ernest Wright scissors and I cannot rate the quality high enough. The last pair I received had a slight flaw but when I enquired about a repair there was no hesitation and I received a brand new pair by return of post. I have found the cusomer care second to none and would recommend Ernest Wright Scissors to anyone looking for a precision instrument which is both a good investment and a beautiful piece of workmanship.

I was fascinated by this company after seeing the videos and ordered 3 pairs of scissors for my birthday. Ordered by phone and spoke to a very pleasant lady, scissors arrived quickly and I liked the cerificate included. Super product. I've bored people stupid with talking about my scissors but as soon as they saw The Putter, everyone was as interested as me and I'm sure will be ordering as well. I've certainly asked for more pairs and hopefully lots more people will order to ensure the company will be around for a very long time.

Ernest Wright & Son is a small company who sell handmade quality products. They have been inundated with orders after a film was made about their products which went viral. I tried contacting them via email and Facebook without success but I wasn't going to let this stop me finding out the information I needed,so I went to their shop/factory at broad lane Sheffield. I had no trouble parking you can do pay and display or there is free on street parking. The shop is wonderful selling all sorts of goods from every type of scissor you may need to knives, pin cushions etc. They are very helpful explaining all you might need to know,they let me try the scissors and gave me plenty of advise. They also said if the scissors wasn't right I could Change them. They also do sharpening service. I would fully recommend them and wish them all the success they deserve so let's support our uk made products they might cost a little more but you get what you pay for ie quality

Much is made of the fact that this is one of the last scissor companies in the UK - and if their service is anything to go by its no great surprise! Like many I enjoyed the item on the BBC website about them and thought I would give them some support - sadly my faith in british manufacturing has been dealt an almost fatal blow - some businesses are destined to fail if they cannot adapt to the online age - this is one such business - months passed - emails were sent on a weekly basis - phonecalls were made - no replywas ever sent - no phone was ever answered!!!! After four months I contacted my bank and had the payment reversed. I have still to make any form of contact with this business. It is shocking that they could not adapt - take advantage of this burst of interest and grasp the opportunity offered by the BBC's publicity. If this is British manufacturing at its best we are doomed. I think the owners of this business should be thoroughly ashamed of their lack of customer service - an apology to all their customers is required before they slide slowly into oblivion!

Good quality product, I placed an order and then called the company 2 days later and they said they had a 3 week lead time, they offered to post it the same day which they did and I received them the next day. Would recommend!!

Its quite simple - after watching a short story about the small firm making scissors on bbc, I decided to order online. Placed order, paid via PayPal, weeks went by no scissors. I then decided to write them no response, tried again same results. Finally opened a complaint via PayPal they couldn't get a response and ultimately refunded my money. Thus, with that said, I didn't get a chance to evaluate the scissors. If you plan to buy them in a store or from amazon maybe you will be ok, but certainly do not order direct.

A quality UK product made in the traditional way. Pity I have only recently come to hear of these artisans. I go through scissors, or the plastic handles to be precise, very quickly but not these.

I ordered a pair of left-handed, general purpose scissors for my husband. The scissors I received from Ernest Wright are the finest I have ever purchased and are precisely what was advertised on their website. The company very clearly communicated to me that there may be some delays in processing and delivering my order due to a video of theirs that went viral causing their workload to be exponentially increased. The only regret I have about ordering from this company is that I didn't get myself a pair of their sewing scissors and I fully intend to fix that mistake! Both my husband and I are thrilled to have found such a well-crafted product.

yes, due to the very publised delays the delivery of the scissors took a while, and I nearly cancelled my order. However when they did arrive you can tell the different immediately with the quality and cut. Really pleased and I'd highly recommend.

The product is impeccable. I live in New Zealand. I purchased the Kitchen Scissors they arrived within three weeks - The delay was well explained and totally understandable. They contacted me well before the due date to let me know that a video had gone viral and impacted their normal turn around time. They cut superbly, which to be honest is the most important part of a pair of scissors. They fit in the hand comfortably. I would recommend that you purchase a pair because they really do exactly what they should and they have the appearance and heft to last a long time, I fully expect to have these in ten years.

I placed my latest order after the "Putter" video went viral (so during the huge surge of orders for Ernest Wright and Son's scissors), so I'm waiting patiently because I know from previous purchases how excellent these scissors are. I now only buy scissors from Ernest Wright & Son. There's no substitute for the handmade quality that comes from skilled craftsmen.

After i saw the film "The Putter" I instantly tracked down their web site and ordered about 5 pairs of scissors. Many different kinds including a pair of kitchen scissors. I got an email from the advisor who said they were flooded with orders and to please be patient or if you must then feel free to cancel your order. I figured living in the United States that it would be a while and didn't mind waiting. I got 4 put of the 5 pairs the next week. They were wonderful scissors and all work perfectly and look beautiful. There is nothing like something hand made! I received another email about the kitchen scissors explaining that they had run out of forgings and were working on getting more but that i could again cancel my order if i like. I actually ordered more to support these guys. So I am in support of this tiny company of craftsmen who spend their days making scissors by hand.

I recently bought a pair of dressmakers scissors and a pair of pinking shears from Ernest Wright as a gift for my wife who wanted them for sewing. Living in Sheffield it was a really nice touch to be able to buy something made by a Sheffield firm: the pinking shears aren't made there but I phoned the MD at the factory and was happy to accept his word that they were high quality stuff. He also gave great advice about the other scissors and took the time to show me several options. I'm lucky that I could pop in and see them at work and get the personal touch! Both scissors are of beautiful quality and cut perfectly and my wife was delighted with her gift. I'll definitely go back to them if I'm looking to buy more scissors at any time. Really impressed.

The scissors i purchased from Ernest Wright & Son are as close to perfect as you can get (as far as scissors go anyway). Granted there was a fair wait, and i was notified there will be a wait but after hearing nothing but good things about them felt i had to wait, but definitely worth it! A pefect cut from end to end. You can almost feel that they are handmade. Would definitely recommend to a friend and hopefully will be purchasing again!
