“STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!”

I have been meaning to write a review for a while about this place as the quality of the products and customer service is absolutely atrocious! We bought 2x 2 seater leather recliners and a dining set from the Penryn store in Cornwall and at first we were really pleased with our purchases despite them being delivered by the most unprofessional, scruffy looking delivery men who seemed to have been hired purely for the fact that they had a van and were probably cheap. However, our joy completely dissipated shortly after this, it's true that we had absolutely no problems with the dining set and are still happy with that till this day, however, the sofas are the poorest example I have had ever been unfortunate enough to purchase. After only a couple of months they were literally falling apart at the seams and since then have continued to unravel at every possible seam, I have had to repair them on numerous occasions. At the first sign of deterioration I contacted the store and was spoke to very rudely by the manager whose attitude seemed to be that it was just tough so I wrote to the head office and sent photos of the ruined sofas. I had told them I did not want to deal with the manager again as he was rude to say the least and they still continued to use him to contact me, it felt as though they were sticking together to get out of putting right their wrongs. I had several exchanges with head office and was told that if you have animals or children that your year guarantee is void....considering the amount of households that have either or indeed both, I thought it was a ridiculous clause to have in a guarantee and I was not made aware of this when I purchased the sofas either, I pointed out the fact that millions of households have pets/children and they told me that the decision does not lie with them but with the manufacturers, trying to make themselves seem blameless and shirk their responsibilities. Following this I asked them for the manufactures details so I could contact them directly, it was at this point that they changed their mind and told me that it was up to them but they were not going to do anything about it, in such a manner as to say that the discussion was over and there was no point trying to reason with them further. I will never be buying anything from them again and I urge any prospective buyers to remember when you purchase something pets/children void your guarantee and that the customer service they showed you at the beginning of the transaction does not extend to aftersales.

Dear customer, we are very sorry that you were not happy with our service. I must point out that we stated we couldn't do anything as the manufacturers who guarantee it concluded that the sofas had been 'miss used'. They established this by the severe rips that your dog had made to it and that it was not general wear and tear.
All products we sell are designed for normal everyday use and they are of course suitable for children to use.

In the emails I received I was told that the decision to implement the guarantee lay with you so please do not try to lay the blame upon a third party. On the matter of my dogs making tears that is complete nonsense, I do not know if you have any experience with dogs but if dogs want to rip something they would not be so meticulous as to ensure that they tear across a seam without causing any damage to the fabric/leather. Furthermore, the sofas were falling apart at the seams underneath the sofa and at the back of the seats and although I do like to think of my dogs as quite intelligent I am not sure they are quite at the level of intelligence it would take for them to pull out the lever to recline the sofas whilst I am out, crawl underneath the sofas, rip across the seams and then push the reclining seat back down so I am none the wiser when I arrive home. Another factor which you have mentioned here is that the sofas are designed for everyday use and children, I would find that a normal family environment would include both pets and children, yes, and so maybe when a customer comes to you with a complaint you should not tell them that children and pets void their guarantee if that is not the case. I made you aware of the fact that I had dogs and would not have done so if they had been the ones to rip the sofas, you simply seized this piece of information and used that as an excuse as to why you could not fulfill your obligations.
