New format = plus for clarity of the timeline and the inclusion of major life events for close family members.
Minus (strong) for changing placenames from what they were at the time of events to present day, no doubt 'politically correct' names. A really bad example is translating Sebastopol in Russia in the Crimean War to the Ukraine. Thoroughly irritating is Ceylon, at the time of the Indian Mutiny, to 'Western Sri Lanka'.
