“They advertise access to census record and 1939 etc...”

Written on: 18/10/2017 by okcomputer (1 review written)

They advertise access to census record and 1939 etc but dont tell u until you have paid that u have to upgrade to access these...I do not want to pay for one year. All info on one month membership is available free and in much more detail elsewhere. yet again disappointed with the dishonesty of online sites… Read Full Review

“Easy to use and a cheap way to view multiple records”

Written on: 14/10/2017 by HarrisonLeach8 (1 review written)

I use this site and another that is dedicated to only Scottish people. This site is good because you can view hundreds of transcripts before you decide which ones to follow up. The newspaper articles are good. I found the transcript of a court case where my ancestor was giving evidence at a murder trial! I like that they give you ideas to follow up on your family tree. I like that there is only one button to click if you want to use a more open spelling or derivative of a name. I would like it… Read Full Review

“Why I use Find My Past”

Written on: 14/09/2017 by Olsonqi168 (1 review written)

I find Find My Past very easy to use and the search engine is much more responsive to my search terms than that of the best known company, where I usually find myself ploughing through loads of irrelevant and unasked for records. It has been particularly helpful in finding my Berkshire family, providing information that just hasn't been available elsewhere. … Read Full Review

“Simple, easy to use site with excellent information”

Written on: 04/09/2017 by Ogdenyl6 (1 review written)

I found the site very easy to navigate and the information available sometime exceeded that of its current rivals. The only downside that I can find is that of scrolling through the displayed tree and having to use the scroll bars at the edge of the screen. It would be much better is you could just grab the screen anywhere and move it… Read Full Review

“Hooray for Censusreturns!”

Written on: 10/08/2017

Old family papers are the best starting point. Diaries, letters, even from one old lady in Victorian times to another. Names, addresses. write them all down. Then: go to the census, find out whole families, where they lived. From there backtrack to parents, seek children, aunts, uncles, etc. getting answers to your questions is fun, like reading a thriller! I was rather disappointed in the 1939 register though… Read Full Review

“Recommend this site”

Written on: 16/07/2017 by AliviaClark (1 review written)

Love seeing the images of Censuses, as well as transcripts. 1939 is very interesting but can be somewhat daunting if you are searching Wales in particular Teams are very very helpful and always there for you, and send you emails of their results. I am registered with the Findmypast.co.uk and because I am viewing from Australia the list keeps referring to World, with excess and not required sites, which can be annoying at times. … Read Full Review

“A wealth of information”

Written on: 25/05/2017 by YeseniaCasey (1 review written)

Census, birth, death & Marriage records - all tell a story of family history. But then there are newspapers that bring that history to life. All are easy to use and your searches aren't restricted. The fee paid is well worth the information that you may uncover and it is all so fascinating to discover. Basic website that is not confusing to follow or find certain links. A lot of fun and well worth the time and effort to research what I wanted to… Read Full Review

“Good contents but two annoying issues”

Written on: 11/05/2017 by Ross331 (1 review written)

FindMyPast is the genealogy site I subscribe to, primarily because of the included access to the UK 1939 war register. It has all the census recods plus a lot of parish records supplied by various sources, which is very helpful. The annoying things are : 1. 'remember me' works for about three days and then you have to type your ID and password in again (Ancestry is much better on this score) and 2. corrections of typo's are submitted and nothing seems to happen - records I'm sure I've submitted… Read Full Review

“Easy to use family history site - FMP”

Written on: 07/05/2017 by Harris-Altxm30 (1 review written)

I have been a member of Find My Past for about three months and find it easy to use in tracking my British ancestors. The hint section is very useful, although some of the possibilities given seem improbable. I have been able to trace my ancestors back several generations. The 1939 register is particularly useful for finding more recent relatives from the years between 1911 and 1939. I would highly recommend FMP to new and more established family history researchers… Read Full Review

“Found it easy to use”

I have found it most useful in tracing my ancestors. Whilst I admit it doesn't give the reasons why some actions they took, about baptisms for example, (not all the children being baptised) nevertheless it has proved most interesting… Read Full Review

“Find your ancestors made easy ”

Written on: 19/03/2017 by NelsonMcCollum (1 review written)

FMP is a well constructed, user friendly website. I have subscribed to FMP for two years using it in conjunction with Ancestry to maximize the returns on my family tree research, my historical trees being on Ancestry. The addition of the 1939 register is a fantastic bonus to find people after 1911.There appears to be fewer transcription mistakes on FMP than other sites. In addition loyalty to FMP is rewarded when renewing an existing subscription with a very welcome discount, something other… Read Full Review

Written on: 12/03/2017 by giPerkins99 (1 review written)

I am disappointed with FMP. i have recently subscribed to fmp for the second time and it does not give me any useful information. It is hard to use and understand. I would not recommend it to anyone. I use ancestry.com and am very happy with ancestry. FMP does not track online hints nearly as well as ancestry. Then gives no documents… Read Full Review

“A REALLY BRILLIANT REFERENCE TOOL”

Written on: 05/03/2017 by Roycurtis (1 review written)

The Find my past site is invaluable, it makes genealogy research a piece of cake. The addition of updates to existing people on my family tree also ensure I have the full information about this person. I really like the way that details are presented including birth, marriage death and also census for the later members on the tree. The only drawback is that printing the family tree is not easy… Read Full Review

“The 1939 Register is amazing”

Written on: 04/03/2017 by bunty71 (1 review written)

The best thing about Find My Past is the 1939 Register. It helped me discover what happened to my Great Aunt and Uncle, and where my Dad's family were living in 1939. The newspapers section is also wonderful. I discovered that my relatives were featured in a 1914 advertising campaign! And the UK parish records can also be a rich source of information. Sign up - it's worth it!… Read Full Review

Findmypast is the goto site if you are searching for ancestors from the British Isles. The site is very good at updating their data base, especially Irish records.
