Visited Currys store at Barnsley on Thursday 25/8/2016 to buy a portable radio. My wife and I saw one we liked. We did not know how to work it so sought an assistant. Three nearby chatting but ignoring us. I asked one to assist us. He came but clearly knew no more than us. He eventually got it working but reception was very poor. He explained this was of the store location and its size. He then left presumably to continue his chat with his colleagues. No effort was made to show or sell another radio. We looked at another a Pure Evoke D2 at twice the price and this time having observed him I got it going myself. It was perfect-the reception brilliant (so much for his explanation). We decided to buy this one. No-one to be seen! We left and paid £10 more for the radio from an alternative source. It was worth it. Currys staff are really useless. I assume they are not paid on a commission basis so they couldn't care less. Customer care and service as advertised on television is non-existent.
