When in stock isn't really in stock at all.

I have been looking to replace an integrated washing machine. Tried Currys online service and seemed to be successfully making a purchase. However, after entering delivery address etc, the website just refused to move on. I used the online chat option where I was advised that this was a common problem and I should ring the sales team. I did this to find that I would not be able to obtain the chosen dishwasher for "2 to 4 weeks". I asked why and was told there were none in stock. So would I be guaranteed delivery within 4 weeks? Well no - they were waiting for stock to arrive from the manufacturers. I mentioned that the website didn't say the item was out of stock. What it does say is that it's "extended stock" which apparently means they're out of stock but on order to arrive at some unspecified future date. In other words - its out of stock!!! Went elsewhere where I found that although the product was slightly more expensive, the delivery charges and installation costs were much lower. So I'm glad Currys were out of stock (sorry - I mean they had "extended stock").
