I have bought from Deramores website (online wool shop) 3 times so far.
First order- 5 stars
- I had no idea where to get my yarn - I saw them on ebay and contacted them for advice about a type of wool I had seen on a knitting pattern and they were really helpful - got back to me within the day, sent me to their website and ordering was easy - even got to checkout with Paypal, so did not have to faff about entering address details, delivery details or payment info. I ordered several balls of wool in several colours. This delivery was delivered within 48 hours - I was very impressed
Second order - going down to 4 stars so far due to delays:
- again - asked their advice - really extra vague this time, and once again their response was quick and really helpful. I bought one ball of yarn this time as a tester - the website said it was out of stock but let me pay anyway so thought it would be back in swiftly - they sell a lot of wool after all. After a couple of weeks, with no contact I became concerned and contacted them Their reply was swift but all they could say was that it would be up to 21 days because they ahd to meet a minimum order quantity. Therefore, if you are starting a big project and want to buy a tester so that you can be sure you have the correct yarn (wool) I would not use Deramores, but buy it from another seller, and then when you know which one you want, check Deramores to see if they habe it because....
Third Order - 4 stars:
This time I knew what I wanted and went straight to their website ( Free delivery on large orders and this was going to be a biggie (40 balls of yarn (wool)
However, when I got there, they did sell the yarn I wanted, but they only had 3 colours, and this is in total, there were none out of stock. This was surprising as this range has 12 colour choices, so I was very disappointed that they did not stock the full range, or even half of the full range.
I could only buy 1 colour from Deramores as the other 5 that I wanted they did not stock at all. I bought the rest from another seller on ebay. Ebay can be a bit of a gamble as far as yarn (wool) is concerned, but I had previously bought from this seller, and I have recieved my order from them (of 35 balls of yarn in 4 different colour options) within 24 hours for just 2.99 delivery, so there are some good sellers on ebay - including Deramores ( I think they also sell on Amazon too)
I have not had my order from deramores yt, but it is in processing, so hopefully it will be with me soon.
Overall:
If you want a lot of wool, and advice - they are tip tops
If you want an easy to use website, and paypal checkout - they are tip tops
If you want speedy delivery on items in stock - they are very good
If you want a wide range of colours - so so, in my experience some ranges have 22 colours available others only 3 out of 12, others lsit many colours but half are out of stock.
If you want a few sample balls, before comitting to a larger purchase - go somewhere else.
If you pick something that is not in stock - be prepared to wait ages ( a month) or go somewhere else
4 out of 5 stars for these reasons - I hope this info is helpful to potential buyers.
Would I buy again, even with the delivery issues on small orders / not in stock items? Yes I would and Yes I have!
Do I trust Deramores? (Very important in the age of faceless online shopping where yarn(wool) is so expensive?
YES, I really do.
P.S. - please excuse me for putting (wool) in brackets - I know everyone refers to all balls of yarn as wool these days, but many balls of yarn are not made of wool, they are often acrylic, cotton or many mixes thereof, so do not qualify, really, to be called wool but I did not want to confuse anyone who knows all yarn as wool and I wanted to be as honest and open about my review as possible, the items I bought contained a mixture of wools, acrylics and cotton :-)
