I never post reviews, as I get pretty much get what I expect from a service. However, Jessop's go far beyond that. I needed to buy a head to connect my camera to the tripod. Bought a very expensive camera & tripod, but being something of a novice, didn't know that you needed a "head" to connect the two. Anyway, used the online chat, which was good, identified what I needed but the number of products was bewildering. Phoned - and this was what impressed me first - and was answered almost immediately. Identified the head I wanted, after going through a number of options, but what happened next blew me away. This all happened at 19:30 at night. The order turned up the next morning @ 09:30. The advice given was, accurate & quick but the telephone advice was also patient. Incredible company.

“Jessops on-line purchase”

Ordered Lowepro Flipside 500AW just after 14.00 on Thursday and delivered by 10.30am on the next day. I was able to track the order on-line. Used a discount 20% off voucher that was only issued on the Thursday and this was accepted. Purchase price was less than shown on Camerapricebuster and other European suppliers and included next day delivery. The service and delivery could not be bettered. This was my first purchase since Jessops were saved although I was a very regular customer of their Hampshire branches for equipment and printing and I would use Jessops again.

“disappointed Towcester”

After 4 days the Coolpix P530 refused to work. It has been returned complete with returns number to a PO address in Slough by first class post which cost £8.90. I hope to receive a replacement, complete with free bag and return of my postage in full very very soon.

“Perfect example of why high street is dying”

DONT BOTHER WITH JESSOPS FULL STOP I'm an avid online buyer I only wish I had stuck to my gut feeling. Read the article on BBC NEWS "bad service killed jessops not the internet". After spending £1200 At the oxford street store, I was told I would be given a little tour of the camera having no experience with photography. As the store was closing they said I could come back another time. A week later I went for my tutorial they promised and I am hounded by the manager telling me it's not included and I would need to buy a 121 tutorial at a cost of £40. I was made to feel like I was lying and trying to get a freebie. Furthermore I have never come across a bunch of rude stuck up salesmen in my life. BTW Same camera on ebuyer.com- £800. YOU DO NOT GET A SUPERIOR SERVICE FROM THIS RETAILER. Do not waste your money. There are better retailers like John Lewis but personally I will only be buying online from now on. Save yourself the hassle and the money.

“Completely clueless sales staff”

I went to Jessop's Worthing branch to buy a new camera as I wanted to support a local store rather than buy on the internet. I selected the camera that I wished to buy and waited in hope that a sales assistant would turn up. When one did eventually make an appearance he took one look at the camera and said: 'You don't want to buy that one mate - it's rubbish.' and then tried to sell me another camera that was much cheaper. When I told him that, because of its features, this was the camera that I particularly wanted to buy and would he demonstrate it for me, he shrugged his shoulders and walked off. So I rapidly departed the store and bought the camera on the internet £30 cheaper. The moral of the story? Don't bother to shop at Jessops. No wonder they went bankrupt.

Had loads of hassle with eglobal they took my money no camera took ages to get back went to jessops online got better deal next day delivery great camera Nikon d3200 with lense. I was impressed with the next day delivery and packaging was great hassle free should have come here first you think your getting better deals out there but please watch out for them. Trust the name jessops they have been here a good while now keep up the good work jessops. It would be better if they could offer more promo codes gets people interested come on the CEO of jessops get more codes more customers :0)

“Customer service do get back to you!”

I bought a DSLR camera kit. Unfortunately the bag that was recommended was too shallow to put the camera plus the lens it came with attached. So I asked for a refund for the bag. I said I was happy about the other items so I didn't want to send them back as well. They refunded me, even though it took a little while. But everyone I spoke with was polite and helpful, and they actually did what they said. If they said they'd call back or email, they did. They also replied promptly to any questions I asked them by email. The product and service was good, and I thought the customer service were honest, reliable and prompt. I rarely give good reviews but felt I had to, because people only ever really write anything if they have a bone to pick. So what could have been a bad service turned out to be pretty good, and I would recommend them in future.

“DIABOLICAL”

I purchased a Lowepro 400 from Jessops online, with a 14 day delivery, which i was ok with. I kept a track of progress with my purchase but noticed after 7 days it appeared not to be going anywhere. I phoned customer service and was polite, I they did not have an explanation but they would call me back. so i waited and waited (no call back).... 3 days later I phoned again, again no explanation but they would call me back, again 3 days past (no call back) , I phoned again this time I demanded an explanation as to why they had charged my credit card and I hadn't received my purchase, there was alot of ehhh ahhh ehhh ing so I asked to speak to a manager but no one was availble, he then told me my purchase was still in East Mids airport but would release another one. 7 days past and no bag so i called again to cancel my order and refund my credit card. This was last August and the only thing I have received is a call from the credit card refunds to confirm my card details but I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED MY €100 REFUND. AN EXPENSIVE LESSON, NEVER TO BUT FROM JESOPS AGAIN!!! (All correspondence available on request) PS. Expansys shipped the same item within 3 days and I even received a phone call from a very nice lady to ensure I was happy!

“Avoid”

Bought pentax k30 in Oxford st today and was told we would get cash back deal but it has expired ,my switch card was declined but it turnes out this is a problem on their part not mine also they have no stock of memory cards etc so cannot honour bundle deals that are advertised. Now to the nitty gritty . Having seen mr Peter jones on tv spouting how he was turning this store around my wife and I made a special trip in to London to buy this camera and this is the only reason we persevered with the purchase .if. You like being ripped of and told you're bank account is empty then crack on jessops is the camera shop for you .

“Too disappointed for words”

I ordered a calendar as a christmas present on 11th December, I had an email to say on the 13th it had been dispatched. I thought that was quick. So ordered another on the 14th. Confirmation of order, confirmation of delivery... then a "your order is ready to collect" Wonderful so qucik! Went to store & collected. Only one of the two had been delivered... I find that it was the later order from the 14th. There is now no sign of the calendar which I ordered on the 11th. The shop tell me that I should call customer support, I do, I get transferred to Germany! They are not working today and cannot help as they are German and dont have access to UK delivery side of things. Can only apologize and reprint. Not good enough! Kind of defeats the object of an xmas present getting it in the new year. Im utterly disappointed, I ordered well within the time scales for xmas. I could have ordered with another company but decided to use Jesspos. Never ever again!

“Avoid at all costs!”

Ordered an SLR camera from Jessops. Used the interest free option. Once I had ordered I rang cutomer services to upgrade to Saturday delivery as it didn't give me that option online. The person I spoke too gave the impression he couldn't be bothered and said it was 'too difficult to change the order'. Wasn't impressed but didn't push the issue. I checked the tracking details online and it said it had been dispatched, so I waited until Monday. Still no delivery, checked the tracking screen and it now said not dispatched on back order. I phoned them and again was told there was nothing they could do! Their staff really couldn't give a s*** about your order! I'm waiting for a call back which I expect I won't get. Do not use Jessops - go to your local dealer as its worth paying a little bit more but getting good service. I've learnt from my mistake and am going to my local camera shop!

“Fine until it goes wrong....”

Pains me to write this because there is a lot of good history behind this company and the high street shops still seem OK. As an online retailer also OK until you have to deal with Customer Services.....oh dear. Without going into the specific details of my complaint to Jessops there is a complete disconnect within their Customer Services Team. Initially an agent picks up the complaint and just when you seem to be heading somewhere after several days of e-mail exchanges a new agent pops up and sends you a standard 'sorry to hear about your complaint' e-mail. You then spend time bringing them up to speed on the status of the complaint and just as the penny drops someone new turns up and you start all over again. I dealt with 6 seperate people on the same complaint and with each one had to pretty much start from scratch. Eventually, losing the will to live, I gave up. Jessops has a CS team set up to deal with simple issues that require one or two e-mails, Beyond that it all just falls apart. Not good enough How can Jessops possibly survive against the might of Amazon if they cannot even compete on customer satisfaction? Doomed to fail I think....

You should abandon photography and take up prophecy although Jessops demise has been on the cards for some time. Old Frank must be turning in his grave :-(.

The ONLY Internet 'shop' I can give an unreserved thumbs up to is UK Digital Cameras whom I have dealt with on a number of occasions. There are others who are OK, but all too many are not worth even extending a middle finger to and have pride of place in Bertie's Big Book of Obscenities.

I'm glad you seem to have recovered from your almost death wish and I hope everything got sorted out in the end but I have to wonder if a lot of your angst might have been avoided by a thorough perusal of ReviewCentre.com which comes highly recommended for sorting out the wheat from the chaff!

“Terrible communication terrible customer service”

I placed my order online for store collection and received a confirmation email - so far so good. As per the email I went to the store on the correct date to collect my camera only to be told they had no idea when it would be arriving as it could not be found on there system but I was assured I would receive an email when it was available. A month on and I hear nothing so check my order status online "cancelled". Upon emailing customer services I am told they have no idea why it has been cancelled but it has and they are very sorry. The camera I had ordered is no longer visible on the website but exdemo items are and at a higher price than my original order. Once again I contact customer services to see if they will honor my original order value but with an exdemo item.... No Not we apologise and can knock £30 off the price of a second hand camera despite ordering a new one. Just NO. For a well known company this is the worst customer service I have ever received and would not use them for any purchase again. It is not surprising Amazon are so successful when they have better prices and better customer service. It's not the internet that is putting high street retailers out of business it is there own customer service.

“Wish I'd read this site first”

Like so many others, I was promised next day delivery, but the item was not sent - the tracking info says it is on 'back order', though the complaints department said it wasn't on back order, but had not been sent because its value was over £200 and they had to check that the credit card had not been stolen first! Needless to say it has not been stolen. The guy at the complaints department was dismissive of my concerns an when I asked why there was no mention of their 'we don't send stuff over £200 in case your card is stolen' policy on the website, he said 'Because we don't have to put it on the website'. Jessops is a seriously bad firm.

“Don't buy from this company, they only want your money.”

I bought a Nikkon coolpix S4150, it worked for a few days until the battery ran down, I found I could not charge the Battery. I took the camera to the Abingdon store and demanded a replacement, they were useless and refused to give me a replacement or a refund, so much for the 30 day no quibble policy. The put a new battery (which was fully charged) into the camera and said it was a battery fault, I did not believe them but they would not replace or refund, I used the camera for the next few week and when the battery ran down I could not charge it again. I phoned customer service who said since I had the camera for more than 30 days I could only send it back to them for a repair. The Camera was faulty on the day I received it so the sale of goods act should apply, the customer service rep said the only way I would get a refund was to take them to court. I am currently in the process of doing just that. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY They do not even respect the law.

“As useless for me as they have been for everyone else!”

It's pretty simple. I ordered a £20 camera mount on 1st June 2012 (it's now 25th September). It was in stock according to the website. I was hopeful for an early delivery. It was dispatched around three weeks later but never received, the tracking shows that it was lost by yodel. Having called twice and been told someone would chase the courier I got fed up and on 9th July cancelled the order and asked for a refund. I have still not received the refund despite a huge amount of chasing and pestering. I've even pointed out that they are in clear breach of the distance selling regulations. Still no refund. It's only £20 but I'll pursue them until I get it. Jessops' customer service people are absolutely awful. Rude, surly and jobsworthy. They just don't care. One can only hope they go under (again) but only after they've given me my money back. The moral of the story: For heaven's sake everyone, don't buy anything from Jessops!

“Utterly Incompetent”

Ordered a £669 lens which I needed the next day for a photoshoot. It was ordered with "Guaranteed Next Day Delivery". By 4pm the following day it hadn't shown up so called them and was told "oh, sorry, it's not left the warehouse yet, it won't be delivered today. So nobody had bothered to have the basic courtesy to contact me to tell me that Jessops weren't going to bother to send a £669 order when they promised. I asked to cancel the order but miraculously their computers were down and they couldn't. I was promised a call back - nobody bothered to call. I called them again later in the day and they promised me the order was cancelled. The following day they delivered the item regardless and charged me accordingly. I called them and wrote to them several times and got absolutely nowhere. I had to involve my Credit Card company to formally dispute the charge in order to get a refund. JESSOPS, here is a hint. Someone who spends £669 on a lens tends to be the sort of person that spends a LOT of money on photography. Not only that, they tend to know lots of other people who spend a lot of photography also. Guess what. YOU'VE BLOWN IT.... not only will I NEVER use you again, I will also tell everyone I know about my experience and encourage them to take their custom elsewhere.

“Order Cancelled with No reason”

Avoid using Jessops. I ordered a lens and they cancelled my order with no reason. It was supposed to be delivered the next day and i needed it for a shooting, but it never did. When i went to check online, it simply said "order cancelled". Nobody (not even an email) informed me of this. Do not even try to get in contact with the manager, as this will be impossible. Strongly advise everyone to avoid Jessops. Amazon remains the best.

“Avoid using Jessops”

Without going into too much detail, as my problems mirror most other customers on here, I would seriously avoid using Jessops. I phoned to put a camera aside, which they did. I travelled 15 miles only to find out that the moedl in stock was ex demo. The staff members words were "not my fault mate, my colleague spoke to you, not me". They really are a shocking company to deal with and I know of other issues that my brother had with them. Their Collect @ Store is also pointless and untrustworthy. They do not always email you to well you it is in stock, and often these are, again, ex demo models. I just cannot believe a company can act like this and still be trading. I would rather pay a bit more and deal with a company that at least wants to help you. Just look at the reviews around the internet - Jessops are best avoided.
