Shipping and "handling" charges are pure theft. 2-4x actual cost. I have bought vintage photography equipment from time to time. "Not tested" means doesn't work and probably not repairable. Love the "no batteries" to test excuse. Goodwill doesn't have at last "AA" or "AAA" batteries? Perhaps they only have "not tested" batteries? Many untested (read not working) items have shipping charges far in excess of the item value. Far better off to use Ebay where the shipping charges are mostly appropriate. One also has a chance of getting an honest description plus the prospect of some recourse.
Goodwill was once an honest and charitable organization. Be interesting to see where the profits are going these days.
I still go to "shopgoodwill" occasionally but always check the shipping and handling before considering a bid. Also consider it is a gamble with about 10% odds of receiving a functional item.
