“Fantastic fjord cruising”

★★★★★

written by cruiselady44 on 18/07/2012

I bought this cruise from fantastic Ideal Cruising who are very helpful and offer great prices. We sailed on Holland America Ryndam. The staff were excellent and very helpful. We have been on over 50 cruises and this was one of the best. The food was delicious. The Ports, Eidfjord, Alesund, Gerainger and Bergen were delightful and cruising the fjords was amazing. we would definitely choose these providers again.

“Norwegian Fjords - Ventura - Something for everyone”

★★★★★

written by on 28/09/2011

Our groups age ranged from 78 down to 15 and there was always plenty to do for everyone, both on board the Ventura and ashore. Our stops on Norway included Bergan, Eiderfjord, Stavanger and Olden. Norway is exceptionally expensive, but the scenery outstanding. This was our first cruise and were a little unsure what to expect and so only booked for a week - but in actual fact we came home wishing we had booked for 2 weeks! Our initial thoughts of sharing our valuable space with approx 4500 people including crew filled us with dread even though we had been assured by many people this was not going to be the case - they were right. We'd have put money on the fact that we thought the boat was half empty but actually was only 200 under capacity. It is so large there is plenty of space for everyone. We boarded at Southampton which was 40 mins from home. P&O certainly have embarkation and disembarkation off to a tee! So efficient and painless and has certainly made us think twice about airports in the future! This was a good introduction into cruising, with a day and half at sea at the beginning and end of the cruise with 4 stops in the middle. Most of the miles of sailing are done during the night except beginning and end so that your time ashore is maximised. There was endless amounts of fantastic options of food - almost 24/7. The cashless system is a breath of fresh air with you being able to double check your daily spends on your in-room TV. Rooms were spotless as were everywhere else. Staff always courteous. Could not fault P&O, the Ventura or choice of location at all. Would definately do again!
