This was my first night out in Edinburgh as I was visiting my cousin, when we got there everyone got let in expect for me even though I had my drivers license (with photo ID) and my bank card. A blonde woman with glasses was extremely rude and refused to let me in but gave me no reasons as to why. My friends and I will be staying far away from this club due to it having such awful, disrespectful and arrogant staff. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

After my friend and I both loosing our jackets and bags, we phoned silk the following day to see if they had been found. But the woman who answered the call didn't care at all and was very rude, and treated the situation as though they did have our possessions, but didn't care to even look. I found her very ignorant for the whole of the conversation.

Wouldn't even like to give it 1* but unfortunately I have to. It seems to me you have a problem them with your bouncers and not recognising people from their ID's. This should not be something that happens, it is very unprofessional, it is fair enough if a bouncer has to ask another bouncer but when two bouncers feel like they can confirm you are not you when you are you, it comes across as a joke. The bouncer with the beard and his fellow bouncer who he called the guru of recognising ID's clearly do not know what they are doing and this has really disappointed my night! I'm 21 years old and have been in university for three in Cardiff and have never been asked twice for ID and also for another form of ID, I had my bank card to confirm but no other photographic Id which isn't usually required. Sort it out

Didn't let me and my friends in because our ID didn't look like us. I'm 21 work in hospitality but this is disgusting. Shocking door staff. Some bold guy with a beard asked for confirmation from another bold guy about my ID and they both laughed in my face. Sort it out. Power happy door men. This probably explains the rubbish rating. Less than three stars. Minging place. If you manage to make it inside you'll notice the sticky interior and run down look.

After paying for the entry and for the cloackroom they literally kicked me off and said that I couldn't go in because I was too drunk. That was absolutly crazy beacuse I was sober, but when I try to explain my point of view they were very rude and didn't care at all about what I was saying. The bodyguard treated me like a danguerous person, and actually I'm a 1.50m girl without any bad intentions. My friends and I had to leave the club even if we had already paid for it. I think it's just a way to get some people out when the club is very crowded and to earn money at the same time. Really horrible and unfair!!!

The staff are extremely rude. The lady "bouncers" and the management are appalling, not letting random girls in because they don't like the look meanwhile they're letting legless girls and guys in. When it came to the male bouncers they happily let us in (so we obviously not that drunk). When I asked why my friend wasn't getting back in, the big female bouncer said "does she always look like that?", to which my reply was yes, my friend does always look like that, she said "I feel sorry for her then". What kind of staff is that? How unprofessional.

I go to silk a lot and usually enjoy my night, but recently I've noticed some of the staff can be arrogant. I got to the entrance with three other friends and we were on guest list. My friend who was first to go in said we were a party of 4 going named the guestlist, my first three friends went in then I paid a fiver and got stamped, but then all of a sudden she stopped me. The girl taking the money then demanded 7 pound and denied that I had given her a fiver before I got stamped. Almost like she had a memory of a gold fish or worse, dory from nemo! I then had to pay 7 pound, not only did I have to pay regular entrance when I was on guest list but had to pay and extra 7 pound on top of the first 5 pound I paid, 12 pound to get in!! Ridiculous, they should hire someone taking the money who can actually count or at least remember the money she's taking in! Anyway, apart from that I enjoy silk, dj is very good, it's popular, hard to get to the bar but that's like that everywhere! The bar staff themselves tend to be very good with dealing with all the people and taking money!

We had silk nightclub booked for us as part of a hen weekend package. Not knowing Edinburgh at all we were hopeful this was going to be a decent place. When we arrived we were greeted with guest list entry and we upgraded to VIP section. The staff were so helpful and nice! They bought our drinks to our table and made sure we had all we needed. We had an absolutely brilliant night and drinks were so cheap! The VIP section was more than comfortable and we felt so looked after. Cannot rate this place highly enough. I don't know what these bad reviewers are talking about!

Staff are rude and ignorant, ruined our night out and we left shortly after entering the premises. Avoid at all costs.

The 'club' has 3 levels to it. Each as terrible as the last... Music is the classic rubbish 'club tunes' and staff are not only rude but obnoxious. To be avoided at all costs.. Honestly all costs.

Sorry but i would never recommend this place to anyone as it was one of the worst nights out i have in Edinburgh. I have been to many places in Edinburgh and i must say this is the worst of all. Even though it has been refurbed etc, the atmosphere in silk has not changed from when it was stereo. The floor was all sticky, music was old school & the people were not friendly.

I'm a regular clubber in Edinburgh, and I'm glad I discovered this place. It's a bit tucked away, down in the Grassmarket in Edinburgh, but it's fantastic. It's open Thursday (when it's probably the biggest student night in Edinburgh), Friday and Saturday. It's busiest on Saturdays - 3 floors open, the top floor is RnB, and the middle and bottom play charts and anthems. The staff are really great, very friendly, the drinks are good quality and very reasonably priced for Edinburgh - on a Friday night, most drinks are £1, whereas at other clubs I've been to, I've been charged up to £9.50 for 2 single vodkas - ridiculous. I found their page on facebook, where it was also possible to ask for guestlist - which meant me and my friends got in for free. The bouncers are also great, if you have any trouble whatsoever, they come and help you. The bars are big so there's not usually very much of a queue, which is always a plus when you're wanting to go and dance. If I had to think of a negative point, I'd say that it's quite confusing to find your way around - there's two different sets of stairs, and a lot of doors, which can be really hard to navigate - particularly when you're drunk. Overall, every time I go, I have a great night, and I have recommended it and will continue to recommend it to everyone looking for a fun time.
