Having bought our first house from Persimmon Homes in Essex we noticed some defects within the first two years. It took forever for Persimmon to rectify and when they did the level of workmanship was poor. Persimmon have constantly looked to avoid responsibility from the moment they received payment for the property. Recently we have noticed a defect due to poor workmanship. Unfortunately we have been told that despite this being the case Persimmon were unwilling to repair because it was past the 2 years. This defect would never have been found within two years. As it was not a structural defect NHBC were uninterested. My advice for anyone the bonus of having a warranty is worthless with Persimmon!

very interested in your comment- i have a purpose built flat which looks like there is a build defect. NHBC isn't worth the paper its written on and no one seems to want to take responsibility or help.
Did your defects get sorted? Have you sort legal advise?
Good luck

Our outlay for repairs was far below that which I would consider going to court i.e. less than 1k. The problem is Persimmon know this and know the procedure very well. If I were to consider litigation I would have to get an expert report which would cost approximately £500. Persimmon would certainly reject this and ask for a single expert witness which would cost a further £500 with instructions etc.. Before you know it, I would spend approximately £3 to £7k before getting judgement. The judge may also consider not awarding costs to me meaning I loose this money. Unfortunately Persimmon have a team of in-house solicitors working for them who are employed to stop litigation processes. My advice is to see if you have any legal cover on your house insurance who may take up the fight. Really nasty business would not recommend Persimmon to anybody!!!
