After 8 and a half weeks, from application to being approved. Yes I was stressed out, mainly due to reading bad reviews. Our mortgage advisor was very good, kept us informed even when we were on holiday! She says applications taking longer due to new rules of acceptance and more people applying. Very very pleased as we can now move to our lovely new house. Well Done Halifax

Bimblehead's Response to Trickysue12's Review

I wrote a review recently - see below about avoiding the Halifax and then I got my offer. But even now when I have my offer there are still delays because I am receiving a gifted deposit. There is no problem with this apparently but getting the Halifax to send out a letter to the solicitor confirming they are happy is a nightmare - a week on and still waiting for this bit of paper that is apparently a technicality for the £5K from my dad. Eight and a half weeks is also too long to wait for a mortgage frankly and I know from friends of mine that there are many other companies who are much faster than that. I am very very lucky that the person whose house I am buying hasn't put it back on the market - and there is still the chance he might do as I know he can't afford to wait much longer.
