written by stevepearce on 31/01/2005

The Nokia 6210 is brilliant, The battery life is good, the ease of use is great! I constantly transfer data via a Sync cable to the desktop PC an Infared to the laptop. I use the Sony Ericsson HBH-200 Bluetooth headset which is small enough to get into a crash helmet - yes it gets used on a motorbike! Handsfree options offer auto answer and voice activation.
This is the best phone I have ever had - tried several other Nokias but keep coming back to this one...
(With a review like this I might be able to get a job at NOKIA) But it is just so good - why have they stopped making it?

The Nokia 6210 was a pretty standard mobile phone by nokia, but with the extra of infrared and wap. i dropped it loads and it never had a single fault.
im on my 4th phone now, the 6210 was my 2nd phone, and i still find myself going "i miss my 6210" "the 6210 was a good phone". i gave it to my mum to stick her PAYG sim card in, because her old phone was a brick. its a shame my mum got it stolen when she went abroad :-( my dads got the updated version, 6310i or something, thats good too!

written by loo loo on 08/03/2004

Used this Nokia 6210 handset for its third year now, and tried and tested a few more mobile phones since then, but have always reverted back to this faithful old friend. Useful for my laptop modem connection. For a business person, it's perfect, easy and quick to use - no fiddly menus to scroll through, or hidden buttons to accidentally press. Bought one new battery this year (slim) and it's like brand new again. Very professional phone - can't find another to beat it...yet

written by matthum on 02/01/2004

The Nokia 6210 is a classic Nokia phone with a slim style and an ease of use that rivals models with far less features than than this.
Its ability to store over 150 messages means that you only ever have to erase them at very irregular intervals compared to a lot of other models which get to about 20 and tell you its full.

On the down side (as we all know) it does have a tendancy to turn itself off occasionally but who really doesn't have 30 seconds to turn this highly reliable phone back on.

★★★★☆

written by ChrisH on 05/12/2003

Having used my Nokia 6210 for almost 3 years I have generally been very happy with it, the most irritating issue being it's propensity to turn itself off from time to time (seems to be a well known failing of this model from the look of other reviews). Now a little heavier than newer colour screen models, but overall I would rate this handset at the top of the list of all the mobiles I have had over the past 10 years or so. Especially good for business use, but now lacks some of the advanced features that are now in the 6310i.

“The 6210 would be my dream phone but for its habitual...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by RJB on 19/11/2003

The 6210 would be my dream phone but for its habitual turning itself off. I have tried cleaning the contacts, wedging various things into the battery compartment, tapping it on my hand- nothing seems to solve the problem. There is no pattern whatsoever to it either, I have dropped it several times and it has been fine, yet sometimes a slight movement of the hand whilst you are holding it is enough to switch it off. I know no less than 7 people on a personal level all of whom have or have had 6210's that behave in this way, not to mention all the other people within reviewcentre who have reported this problem.

Apart from it dying and turning off frequently, the phone itself is faultless. It has a huge memory for numbers and messages, is entirely indestructable, the vibrator and ringtones/volume is excellent, and characters spring onto the screen as soon as you press the keys, no matter how fast you type.

In conclusion, this phone is near ideal, but for its accursed switching itself off. Theres nothing quite as enjoyable as seeing your phone turn itself off just as you press to save the mammoth text message youve spent ages writing, yes...

The phone has recently stopped working altogether- it wont even power up, and I now have an Ericsson T68i. Although the characters take an age to appear on the screen, the tones are too quiet and the keypad makes an annoying ticking noise, at least I can now use my phone without fear of it turning off and losing my message or cutting off my call!

written by si2396 on 19/09/2003

A good all-round phone with sensible, business-like styling and an impressive set of features. I've dropped it down the stairs, out of my hand onto a concrete driveway, and generally thrown it around in daily use. It's on its third fascia (just to keep it smart) and is over 2 years old, but is still going strong. My only niggles are as follows:

1. The ear speaker occasionally goes on the blink, but this is resolved by a gentle tap! I think this has more to do with me taking the phone apart!

2. The battery has worn loose, which can cause the phone to switch itself off occasionally, especially if it's not being stored in a leather case. I resolved this by inserting a folded piece of paper between the battery and the case, just to give it some tension.

Had the same problem with my 6210, so replaced it with a 6510 and - hey presto - exactly the same problem!! Is there a Nokia phone that this doesn't happen with?? I love their phones but it is now becoming very irritating, especially when you've typed 160 chars only for it all to be erased!

written by Sinu Thomas. on 17/05/2003

I agree that the NOKIA 6210 is a phone for the Executives with its rich features and style. But Believe me, this phone has lot of reliability problems. At first the keys were making metallic sounds when pressed. Sometimes Display goes off and you need to reseat the battery to resolve this issue. As time passes there are lot of problems with the display. The Reception is'nt that good. All that impressed me was the memory that I could use and the Interfacing with a PC.The Voice recognition does not perform well (wears off)as time passes for recognised voices. Its been a year and a half I used this phone and the last time I used it, showed me this Error Message " CONTACT SERVICE ". I gave it for service to 2 NOKIA service stations and they said the Main board need to be replaced as they have confirmed this to a hardware issue after a few tests. Well, thats almost about the same cost as a NEW NOKIA 6210. I would never recommend this phone anyone who wants to use it for long.

“Its a good phone for the most part. Lots of features...”

★★★★☆

written by Tha Don. on 14/04/2003

Its a good phone for the most part. Lots of features which i have found and made good use of. I like the phonebook 100% because its massive, full of features and works very well. Very close to my ideal phone really, because i'm not into this whole 'first-generation' of colour-screen phones - i'll wait till the technology is cheaper and more reliable. If i have anything to say to nokia about the phone, i'd ask them to improve the points noted below, add Bluetooth and concentated messages and a bit more memory, possibly FM but not necessarily, and i'd have my ideal phone to be honest.

1) As the in box fills up though, it slows down noticably. Delete them, and its fine.
2) My phone collected quite a bit of dust under the cover, which took a trip to a phone-shop to get it cleaned, and broke a little of the infra-red cover hinging in the process.
3) It has switched off of its own accord about thirty to fifty times since i've had it. This happens in phases, tap it gently or a bit harder once in a while and it'll go for some time without playing up.
4) I've noticed that sometimes the keys now need a very hard press in order to work, while typing up text messages, or playing snake. This has been rather annoying because it has meant i have to slow down my key-press rate once in a while.

Thank you Ali! You saved me hundreds of euros! I was ready to replace my phone because of bad reception. Nokia club “experts” couldn’t fix it, although I asked for help twice. Thanks again!

You must have had a bad'un. Had my 6210 for couple of years with absolutely no problems. Looks far more businesslike than smaller ones. Reception was brilliant on Vodaphone. Dropped numerous times & never failed me. Loose battery was repaired under warranty (though was well out of it at time). Only recently upgraded to newer technology.

A good 'business' phone with large memory. However it is slow and the keys are developing an audible spilt-cola sound. Lots of horror stories on this phone along with bad service however I have had no problems with this handset

★★☆☆☆

written by JayJay. on 28/09/2002

As with all the other company-supplied Nokia 'phones I've had, this Nokia 6210 has started to go bad after about a year. Typically starts with some of the keys having extra-long travel and an audible "clunk" on being pressed - followed by: switching itself off at intervals. Expect (by the history) to have the display start to disappear soon (though a tap on the hand will restore it for a month or two). Eventually just a piece of 12-18 month old junk (and not from misuse!).

The Nokia 6210 is a good mobile phone - getting a little bit old now, but it's the most solidly built I've seen. A little large for pockets, but the interface is good, reception's not bad and battery life is good too. Some operations (SMS inbox) can be a little slow but it's bearable. Shame I just lost mine really..
