I have owned my V plate 2.5 LE for just over 6 years ,bought it at 40,000 miles ... Just passing 120000 ... In that time it has had 6 tyres ,1 battery .. A few oil and filter changes , front pads, and more recently a water pump and ancillary belt ... It is a pleasure to drive .. Spacious ( a friend of mine borrowed it to move her house in ) comfortable and fairly economical considering all the things it can do.. I tow a abbey Stafford with it and have taken it abroad with every confidence it will do the job and get me home!!! I would not be without ole Blue!!!!

Fantasitc car!!! great at towing, Lots of space, chairs are like armchairs, My 4 boys love it!! Only downfall we found was, if you only had 1/4 of a tank of diesel and you were on a hill pointing downwards, our car has cut out due to the fuel outlet being at the back of the tank, to which I did have to get the A.A out to rebleed the system.
Parts are expensive as they are made by Mercedes. Last year (2009) it cost us £900 for front brakes and bearings. But this is the only thing we have really had to do to it.
This car is like a tank, fast, solid, and always ready to go! We are looking to part ex our Chrysler this year and have looked at other 7 seaters and NOTHING come close to the Chyrsler in our opinion, so Grand Vouger here we come!! :)

Owned 2 Voyagers - suffered third gear box failure August. 1st failure cost me £4000 for 2.4 petrol after 52K miles and 4 years old - Chrysler refused any "goodwill" gesture even though FDS records checked. 2nd failure @ 18K miles on current car after 22 months, replaced under warrenty. 3rd failure at 58K -technically 40K miles and three years since being replaced. Insisted on extended warrenty for gearbox, which ran out three days before the third failure, now waiting for Chrysler to honour this arrangement but it looks like they will reject it. Would NEVER buy a Chrysler/Jeep again - expensive to run, maintain and from personal experience not reliable.

had car from new no real problems .had 1st year service done at main dealer at 7,000 miles ,missed 2nd year sevice as it had only done 12,000 miles but got the 3rd year service done miles at 18,ooo at main dealer.the car has done 28,000 miles and is 4 1/ years old and the gearbox has gone according to the main dealer who drained off some gearbox oil and found metal swarf in the oil(cheeky buggers charged me 1/2 hour of labour £46 to diagnose this ,they quoted £2500 for a new one.phoned up chrysler helpline for a goodwill gesture towards cost 3 times but they did'nt want to know.now i'm going to a transmission specialist to do the job as i would'nt give chysler garage any more of my money

This car Voyager L E 3 3 auto has covered just over 40,000 miles I have had 2 batteries 4 new tyres, also 3 recalls from Chrysler and better after market lights from Startech Nothing else has been done to it. We like the space and sliding doors . We also carry a wheel chair secured behind the back seat removed one captain"s chair the space used as a boot. we did reserch long before we orderd it and the model was quite new at the time ,so we didnt know of any impending trouble other owners seem to be having. We are very satisfied with it,and we have done long trips to Italy in it.

Bought our grand chrysler voyager for our business. On the clock it has 88k but being a diesal would not expect any issues. It started playing up yesterday reving and not going anywhere, been told today that it needs a new gearbox with an average repair bill of approx 3k?? That is ludiclous money for a repair or new gearbox, has anyone got any advice? Alan in the isle of man.

We brought this from a car dealer 7yrs ago. we fell in love with it,inside and out. my hubby kept up its maintenance, oil ,water etc,we have four children so this big car was going to last till they were teenagers. thats not to say the kids loved it as much as we did.[especially when at the end of the week the amount of empty crisp packets and cans and the mcdonalds mess, the tamptrums feet banging, a skip with a tramp in it was probably cleaner and less noisy] but! our car took it well well, it would have done. After 7 yrs of excellent engine running, and the occasional new tyres + a over heated radiator due to the bad weather of dec 2009. she,s been the best car we have had.as of 14th march 2010 my husband comes home with the entire boot end smashed. Some poor old man smashed into our car at 40 mile per hr. luckily my hubby was alone in the car,a little whiplash but hes ok. so what happens now.We paid just over £7000 for the car. our 4th youngest child is 7 ,thats why we brought it in the first place, so we have a tel call to say from the garrage the car is un-roadable[is that a word].We can have a check for £1900 plus an unusable car back if we give them £200 for it. so my ? is. What can we by for roughly £2000 in 2010 that we could buy for £7000 in 2003. I must stress this review is from our experience only from a 1998 model. Maybe other models from different periods were not so well done. but in all truth-fullness she was the best we,ve had.p.s my husband does know a little about cars so that does help. and I hope this review helps.

I love Grand Voyagers when they work. That's the problem, every other week there's something else goes wrong.
Charles Hurst Chrysler in Belfast are rude, unreasonable and absolute rip off merchants. This makes ownership even worse as they are the only dealer in N.Ireland.
I'm putting mine up for sale due to the amount of trouble I've had with the rear brakes. Totally unacceptable considering how much they cost. I'm going for a Volkswagon Caravelle next.

I'm on my 3rd Chrysler Voyager 2.5TD, all starship miles, all the same faults ie Syncros on 1st and second gear. I am lucky to be in the job and have done them myself (what a bitch) the syncro and spacers cost £475 from chrysler any other car they would be £55. Also number 1 injector packs up
Loses power at 2100rpm in 5th gear. Another £600 for 1 injector.
You might ask why 3 voyagers, because you can buy them off people who cant afford the repairs and it will do 45 to the gallon.

Yep you are right about 1.gear is hard , Try change gear oil to a engine oil 5/30 ,yes the gearbox only use engine oil . My 97 (with out timing chain) voyager td has been running 435000km with out big problems, only gearoil, injector no.1 with sensor feels like turbo not working, The injector was not bad only the sensor. Clutch last only 220000km :( gets real hard to press down.

Now gearbox gone stuck in first. will cost between £2500 - £4000 to fix . One problem car is abroad........

Have had my Chrysler Voyager Base since 69000 miles. 97 model on S plate. had front brake pads doing which is fine and pretty normal. Now have whirring noise which stops when clutch is put in. was told that it was the gear box and that hopefully it just wasn't oiled enough. Had sump seal replaced at cost of £188.00 and no improvement. After reading all these reviews I have assigned my self to it being the gear box and probably needing anew one! Better bring out the credit card! and yes I have difficulty undoing some of my seat belts too! The car looks so nice though!

My Voyager is just over 3 years old and needs a new gearbox - this will be the 4th! Is that a record? After a year I needed a new engine, new gearbox, new turbocharger, and new exhaust system. The ABS sensors have also been replaced.

Bought the Chrysler Voyager from 7 seater dealer with 65000 MILES on, have been paying out since, cruise control went off, horn wouldn't work, airbag faulty, gearbox packed up, unrepairable damage, had already been fixed previously, clutch plates worn, had to be replaced. Exhaust and tyres expensive too, brakes expensive. Servicing expensive. Valuation of car has depreciated a lot in two years of buying it. We have paid out approx £3000 in repair bills in this time. Will never buy Chrysler again, once bitten!!!Don't recommend them to anyone, buy British.

Having first read the previous reviews, I can identify with a lot of them. The head gasket has just gone on my Chrysler Voyager Base 2.5 TD at 88,000 mls. I find the seat belts hard to release. Does anybody else? Clutch on its way out and Chrysler have quoted £ 1000.00 to replace!! Had a problem last year with the engine cutting out whilst negotiating roundabouts, put the car in for them to run a diagnostics check. This came back saying we needed a new diesel pump costing circa £2000 but my husband fixed the problem by replacing the air filter which was blocked at a cost of £35!!!

I can do better than just the head gasket going at 84000 miles, i have a 4 year old voyager 2.5 CRD LX, that needs 4 new fuel injectors at £700 + VAT and a complete new head at £1500 +VAT, inclusing labour and bits and bobs.....£6700.00!!!!!!!!

The Chrysler Voyager Base 2.5 TD car is a Lemon and its gonna kill me soon. Its already tried twice. I cant drive it anymore, its just to dangerous (brake line went out a 65 mph, gas tank bracket fell off after filing it up with gas, tranny out, power steering out, water pump out, should I go on theres 40 or more pages and i've had it in the shop more than 45 days in 2 years)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I purchased my Chrysler voyager Base 2.5 TD with a modest 65,000 miles on the clock, and a full dealer service history. In the three months of ownership, the gearbox failed, the rear brake cyliders failed, the o/s trackrod end failed, the air venting mechanism failed, the aircon failed, the exhaust failed, the clutch was virtually worn out (£300+ just for the parts)the front suspension had clonks, and the electrics had a mind of their own. My advise to anyone even considering one of these vehicles.....DONT. These MPVs are NOT a quality car at all. I have owned quite a few German/swedish cars, and would advise poeple to stick with these.

Chrysler Voyager Base is a good machine, had it converted to LPG at a cost of £1200 - repaid for conversion within 10 months of fuel @31p per litre!!, dissapointed with electrical failures of airbag and fan relay at a vehicle only done 50,000 miles - head gasket leaking oil - dealer fix cost of £700+ again shouldn't happen on a fully dealer serviced vehicle of this age, any comments from other owners?

The best vehicle I've ever owned - 7 years now and 173,000 miles - still covers 1000 miles UK to Poland in 14 hours at 34 mpg! But I get the same trouble with the fuel system, cutting out on a downslope at about a quarter of a tank. Any answers to this one, it's very annoying. It has cost me very little over this great mileage, and I still get a small shiver of excitement when I get in and close the door with 1000 miles ahead of me. It inspires great confidence - that's the trouble, look down and your doing 110 mph! And what a fantastic stereo...........
