“Do not use these solicitors! ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by HCC1969 on 01/12/2022

I do not want anyone to go through the stressful situation I am currently in due to using these solicitors trade also trade as Ross and Coates. I am one of a very frustrated party which includes my estate agent, vendors estate agent, my buyer, vendor, and vendors solicitors. We are all in agreement that they are rude, incompetent, unreliable, lacking in knowledge, uncontactable, disinterested, argumentative, unprofessional, untrustworthy, disjointed, unresponsive, lack standards, unable to cope with workload and uncomplicated tasks and the list goes on. They may appear cheap but then ask for hidden costs up front and will not continue with case unless you pay there and then with poor explanation of what you are paying for. The complaint procedure is completely unsatisfactory. I would have given no stars if possible as I can not think of one positive point regarding their work since July and we are no where near completing. I am just hoping my sale and purchase will get to completion!

“DO NOT USE THIS SOLICITOR”

★☆☆☆☆

written by PSDODDY on 05/11/2020

DO NOT USE THIS SOLICITOR. I moved in 2016, i had a complete battle with contact with this company and was surprised I even got to move during the process, was expecting the people in my chain to pull out. Every couple of years i get a letter from the HMRC saying i haven't paid my stamp duty, which i have, because they didn't send it correctly. So, another letter from HMRC this morning (november 2020) saying the same and I still have to sort it out. Theres no point calling them, I would have more chance of them answering at midnight on a sunday during lockdown. I shall be putting up 1 star reviews every time i get a letter so others don't use this useless company.

“RUDE, ARROGANT, HOPELESSLY INCOMPETENT - AVOID!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by onlinereview34egfe on 12/01/2020

An absolute disgrace of a company that lead to loss of sale of my house due to their hopelessly incompetent service which is intolerably rude and arrogant. Even when faced with facts they will accept no liability and the person dealing with the complaints is only there to infuriate you further with his condescending and rude approach. I found this company through a price comparison website and it was a soul destroying experience. Inability to provide clear instructions to customers, delays upon delays with no follow up and not addressing questions raised, One star is too high praise for this company. They should be closed down with immediate effect. Sadly I came across the online reviews later on and if you decide to raise a complaint and seek refund/compensation, you are in for a shameful and infuriating treatment by the person I dealt with. A complete and utter humiliating waste of time. Save your time, money and health and never ever consider going to this company. Not ever!

“Dreadful Company ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 03/12/2018

This company only gets 1 star because that is the lowest. Legal staff generally only work from 10am to 3pm, in line with school pick-up and the office empties at half-term. Almost never return calls or emails and so slow to respond to other solicitors that it engenders lots of bad feelings and distrust. I was stupid enough to fall for the low cost advertised on-line, but that only got a level of service that was glacial in its slowness. Paying for the 'expedited' service doubled the cost (no longer a cheap option), but the service was little improved. Using them was more stressful than divorce! If they offered to do with my next sale for free, I would still not engage them.

“Very positive experience and would use again”

★★★★★

written by SuzJones on 24/01/2018

I found Harmony Law through a price comparison website. I made the mistake of looking at the reviews after instructing them to act on my behalf. The reviews shocked me and I was so worried about having made a huge mistake as we wanted a quick purchase. However, my experience was entirely positive and bore no reflection on the reviews I read. Maybe I was lucky with who I had acting on my behalf, because she was efficient, helpful and ensured everything went smoothly (even though the sellers solicitors were a nightmare and caused more problems for both the seller and ourselves!) It was easier to communicate via email as trying to speak directly didn't always happen, however the emails were always responded to and she chased up the sellers' solicitors, copying me into the emails. I know that I can only comment on my experience, but I would use them again without hesitation. I think more people tend to review when things go wrong, rather than if it all goes smoothly - which is understandable. That is why I wanted to share my positive experience about the company.

Upon speaking with the person I dealt with I made it clear in the first instance that I would be looking for a quick sale, she said that would be fine. When it came down to it they wanted to charge me an extra £400+VAT for this even though I made them aware of this from the onset. Also the minimum time they take to complete without avoiding paying the £400+vat its 2 months plus 1 day from the day they receive contracts from the other solicitors. This is written in their ToC however not every clear.

Out of 11 houses we have bought and sold over the last 20 years this has to be the WORST conveyancing company on the planet! They will feed you all the bull you need to hear to get your business and that is where it all stops!! emails never answered, telephone calls never answered. They are discourteous, unprofessional, rude and arrogant to the extreme!! Our purchase fell through so I asked for a refund? for 2 weeks I heard nothing! Only when I threatened to litigate against them in the small claims court did I get a response?? they then took a further 4 weeks to send a cheque! Dont be taken in, pay a fraction more and get a decent company to do the job, Unfortunately for me I had not read the reviews until after I had signed up otherwise I would never have used them in a million years!! STAY CLEAR OF THEM!!

“AVOID AT ALL COST”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Killian1 on 23/11/2017

Every step of the way has been a struggle to get any information or correspondence from them. Contracts were signed by sellers end of September and we are still waiting for a completion date. Phoned today to be told if we want to move next week we will have to pay another £295 and the date we want still won't be guaranteed. Attitude of the manager of Harmomy Law is if you pay a discount price you wont get a Rolls Royce service. And to top it all our solicitor has now gone on holiday for 2 weeks.Wish I had found these reviews before instructing them as it has ended up costing us more money with all the extras we have had to pay on top of the original quote.

Hello, I don’t suppose your buying in gorleston are you! It sounds like your in the same chain as us, because we have been waiting for ages to complete and harmony law at the bottom of the chain are holiding us up, if we are not moving soon peoples mortgage offers will expire and the interests rates are going up!! So really hope the move is next week!!! If I were you I would pay the extra money and be done with it, otherwise could end up having to start all over again! Sorry to hear your going through this aswell at such a stressful time of year!

“Don't respond, charge more, terrible service”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ThomasK333 on 15/11/2017

Avoid this company at all costs. Service is slow, questions are not answered, no mechanism to track your cases online, nothing is checked before sending to you, should you want any change slight change to the service they charge massive rates. Do not be fooled by a low price, I was and regret using them for even any simple service. The only thing they do quickly and well is getting more money should you request the slightest deviation or simply an explanation of what is going on. Avoid avoid avoid avoid!!!!!

Do not use this company , I paid a search fee £200 to harmony law and the next day my flat had fell through I told them as soon as poss and they said they would refund it or use it towards another search fee when ide found somewhere else , the next day they said that it had already been paid and I had lost it" I believe they lied so as not to pay it back . I then decided not to use them and asked for a refund of the full £400 they said after fees" I would only get half my deposit back which I still haven't received . I have lost over £600 and they have done no work for me at all not to mention the time I have spent and still am chasing them around for at least some of my money back which I doubt very much ill see again these are the worst conveyency solicitors ever my advice DO NOT USE AVOID AT ALL COST they are terrible, harmony law I hope you see this you should be ashamed .

“Poor service”

★★☆☆☆

written by Ruben1949 on 26/10/2017

I spent 15 Minutes trying to get through to the right person, each time the service was poor, with being blindly placed on hold. the service was not what I expected from a Solicitors company, there was no apology, no one wanted to take ownership, and the attitude of an adolescent who didn't have a idea what manners were.... I was given a quote for services carried out and then charged a further fee which was not disclosed when booking with these sols... Make sure you know what you are being charged for....

“Don't get involved with anyone using this "Law Firm"....,,”

★☆☆☆☆

written by disharmony on 10/10/2017

We are buying a property, and the seller is using this company. Our offer on the property was accepted May 22. On August 8, our solicitor requested 12 original documents -- documents that should have been requested by and submitted to the sellers solicitors as a matter of course at the beginning of procedures. It is October 10, and we our solicitor is still awaiting these documents. Apparently they were mailed last Friday, a whole week after the seller mailed the documents priority to these people. They did not need to mail the documents but authenticate them and scan them to our solicitors as is normal and legal procedure and would have taken part of the day. So, we all wait. When, if at all will the documents arrive. If they do will they be the correct documents, all of the documents etc, etc, etc. BBC Watchdog may be getting a call this week...... The one star is only there because you have to give a rating.

“AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS - DO NOT USE THEM !”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Collinske211 on 01/10/2017

I have rather naively decided to give them a go without reading the horrific reviews that have been posted here. I got a quote from them and made it abundantly clear that my property was brand new, they knew it was a new build when they quoted me yet 3 months after instructing them they sent me an email saying that I needed to pay more because the property has a new lease. I sent Remersh 3 emails and did not receive a single reply. I called the firm every single day at all hours but they send all their calls straight to voicemail because they refuse to answer your calls. I found a way of getting through to them and having to dial a number that isn't advertised and to my surprise it turns out in 3 months they have not done any work on my file, every other person in my block has exchanged apart from me because of these guys and how incompetent they are! I received an email from the person I dealt with who said that because the property has a new lease I would need to pay nearly £500 more than my agreed fee, I emailed the other side and they have said that there is no new lease but Harmony Law were insistent that there was one that eventually when the person I dealt with called me it turns out what he meant was that as the property was brand new it would have a new lease and therefore they would charge me more for it. I refused because they knew from the offset that it was a brand new build and therefore it should have been included in the price they quoted me. The person I dealt with tried to justify the price by saying that all new leases have mistakes, which is extremely presumptuous, and also he said that with new leases they have to check it line by line which he said they don't with old leases because they have already been checked by other lawyers. Which is extremely alarming because that means they are charging money from customers and not doing the job they are meant to be doing. Also it should not matter if it is a old lease or a new lease they should be checking all leases line by line so if the work is the same why do new leases attract an additional fee? The person I dealt with  refused to explain and said I should check my terms of engagement. I was only sent one copy which I had to send back after signing and it had the fact the property was brand new on it. So they knew at every stage the property was going to have a new lease, the person I dealt with being the person I dealt with further commented that new builds mostly have old leases not a new lease which confirmed that he was clearly incompetent and has no idea what he is doing or saying. This outfit is an offshoot of Ross Coates which are a law firm and no one in Harmony Law has any legal qualifications other than Ross Coates. The rest of the team are administrators. Thankfully I received my entire money back. DO NOT USE THEM!

“TERRIBLE COMPANY - SHOULD BE CLOSED BY TRADING STANDARDS!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ROSIENEWEY on 27/09/2017

I wish I had read this forum of terrible reviews before appointing them - I have never had a solicitors hang up on me when asking for progress about a conveyancing job. This is by far the worst ever company I have ever spoken to. They never ever answer phone calls - they try charging for 'extras' constantly and they are the most unprofessional bunch of idiots on the market. STEER CLEAR!!!

“Please do not use!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 407Lyon on 14/09/2017

I have been purchasing a house now with this company and I couldn't tell someone to avoid them any more! They are unhelpful, cause so much delay in the process and lie to their clients and the other sides solicitors. They are very sneaky and deceptive! please don't use, don't waste your money on them! They are set to a 10-12 week deadline but will not go quicker unless you pay an extra £500!!! for them to just do their job! the chain could have been completed within 5 weeks and because of this company they have dragged their feet and will not help the rest of the chain at all. I have no words to say how bad this company are. Burn your money rather than give it to them, you will get more satisfaction! They don't even deserve the 1 star which you have to give on here

“AVOID- APPALLING CONVEYANCER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Barrtg244 on 06/08/2017

Booked this company recently as basically they were cheapest on internet and ours was straightforward cash sale with no chain and no complications. Despite this easy process this company totally messed up everything meaning we more or less had to resort to dealing with matter ourselves to avoid sale falling through. Will include Warnings 1. They initially offer 10% extra discount if you sign up within 24 hours and this is absolutely the only thing they are good at -taking your deposit and then basically it goes rapidly downhill from there. Sadly we did not check other reviews prior to signing up but wished we had as they caused us so much stress and continually asked for more money for there expedited service -so the initial offer is just a fake offer to get you signed up 2. They lost copies of our confidential information -copies of passports/bank details etc despite them being signed for as received by their reception staff -no apology just send them again!!!! -This delayed things for several weeks at the start as despite signing for them the solicitor handling our case claimed never to have received them -EXTREMELY WORRYING AND WHERE ARE THEY NOW!! 3.It is extremely difficult to get anyone to answer phone both in reception and then they try to put you threw to another line which is rarely answered. Similarly emails sent generate an auto response but then they never bother to answer so nobody keeps you updated on progress -you will constantly have to do all the chasing 4. Prepare for the phone call that you will need to pay several hundred pounds extra for expedited service of completion of 8 weeks -took nearly 16 weeks to get our matter sorted and buyer nearly pulled out 5. Worst company we have ever dealt with and staff can be rude -for what its worth AVOID AVOID AVOID an absolute shambles and will never use again
