“Way too expensive”

★★☆☆☆

written by lilhen on 31/05/2013

After I made my appointment, I decided to research and read some reviews. I love reading reviews and I was so glad I did. The Ideal Image office was advertising a free underarm treatment for coming in for a consultation. Because I read these reviews, I went in prepared NOT to spend any money.

The office was, in fact, very impressive. Everything was super clean, they had complementary keurig coffee options in the lobby, magazines, nice couches, etc. It was a very nice environment, which makes sense because who would pay for a dirty facility? I waited a few minutes, and then the consultant woman took me back to a treatment room where she explained everything to me. She did seem knowledgeable about the procedures and I could tell she had done this many times. She said she was a technician, so she does not perform the treatments. Right off the bat I could sense her confidence, she was a sharp yet friendly lady, which is why I'm sure she makes a great sales woman.

After hearing all about the procedure, and asking a few questions, we went into her office where I filled out pretty typical medical information forms. She then presented me with numbers: What it would cost if I purchased the packages on the spot, and what it would cost if I didn't. It was roughly a $1500.00 difference. What I "agreed" on was not purchasing on the spot, but rather calling in my credit card info the next day. It would have cost me $5500.00 for underarms and bikini since I was not purchasing right then and there, so $4000.00 if I had paid right then and there.

Because I was getting the free underarm treatment (which btw is only on one armpit HAH), I did need to sign their contract. Basically for me, I was agreeing to not sue them. If I had spent my money, I would be agreeing to a LOT more. There was a line that said that I agree to pay [blank] etc etc. On mine it said N/A. I read the whole thing through and there was a lot that had to do with "nonrefundable" jumble and such. Definitely a money trap.

I got my free treatment on my right armpit. I must say, the technician was FANTASTIC. So friendly, informative just really excellent. I really do wish that they weren't so outrageously expensive. I would have loved to keep going to that woman to get treated, and the staff and facility was great. I just purchased a groupon for $199.00 for 6 treatments of my underarms at a different location. I hope they are good, but if not, loosing 200 bucks is a lot different than the 2 THOUSAND that it would have cost at Ideal Image.

The bottom line: if you have the money, I felt that Ideal Image would have been a great, comfortable spot to get treated. But just know that you are paying around 10 times for treatments at a location that has had some sketchy sales tactics going on.
