“Not at all happy - misled all the way through ”

We ordered a kitchen from Wickes Stevenage. We placed an order for a £9,000 kitchen of which £3,000 was installation. We were told that the fitter  would be in touch and do a site visit, which he did. He was doing everything for us (or getting people in) and he gave my husband a sheet of paper which he had to sign which was for just over £3,000. He started the job 4 days earlier to supposedly help us out but all it did was leave me an extra weekend with out a kitchen to use. My husband asked him to only take out half the kitchen and to leave me with the hob, sink, dishwasher etc for the weekend, he agreed to this but ripped the whole lot out, when questioned he said he never intended to only take half out, so he LIED to us. He took days off when he wanted as he said he was owed the days from starting early. He fitted a wine rack and it looked awful how he had done it, when I text him and said I wasn't happy he moaned to my husband about it. We were going away and he said he was having an electrician come in on the Saturday but he was not going to be there, when I pointed out that I was not happy with a stranger being in my house who I didn't know he said to my husband "get her out of here" I was furious. We got to our hotel and I thought how was the electrician going to get in, they asked him and he said he had left the front door key in the gas cupboard out the front, anyone could of broken into out house. I was furious. I called Wickes to complain about him but said I didn't want anything to be said until the job was completed as it would be awkward for my husband, this was ignored and they then spent the whole day having a go about me to my husband. Not at all professional. At the start of the job when he took the kitchen out he had to move things from my cupboard, which I had left to use over the weekend, I would not find some plates and asked him what he had done with them. After a couple of hours I found then, when he came on the Monday morning he referred to me as Mrs Four Plates to my husband, this again was VERY unprofessional. When it came to the end of the job he said he wanted to £3,000 + which my husband had signed for and it was at this point I called  again as we assumed that the installation fee £3,000 we paid WIckes covered this, but no that was just dry installation. The fact that we purchased a FULLY FITTED KITCHEN did not mean that the dishawasher, hob and extractor fan did not include a fitting fee, neither did the plasterwork or any of the electric work so in fact a £9,000 kitchen cost us just over £12,000. Please do NOT be fooled as we were. Also we were told it would take 2 weeks to do, in fact it was over 3 weeks and the stress it caused was unbelievable. They said he was their best fitter, he may of been but he is also their rudest. I have complained to Wickes and we were (after a long battle) given a £600 refund, to me that was an insult but they were not going to budge. They really do not take any responsibility for what happened. Stay well clear from Wickes.
