“Boiling water system ”

Had a Feanke hot tap as part of a whole kitchen deal. After a 2.5 year period it stopped working properly the tap pretty much fell apart.Franke very unhelpful and just kept coming up with excuses after excuses. Avoid any Franke products none of them are worth the money or the hassle to replace..

“Waste of money!”

★★☆☆☆

Installed 2 years ago and at first was really pleased, apart from the excessive spitting which catches your arms as you fill cups etc. However, it quickly became apparent that the "average" 6 month life of a filter was optimistic - the flow becomes restricted very soon and some of the filters have lasted less than 2 months. At £38 a time, this soon mounts up. After about a year, the boiler became erratic and then ceased to provide boiling water. The boiler unit was replaced 7 months ago under warranty, but as we approach the end of the warranty we are experiencing the same problems and are anticipating having to replace it again at our own expense (about £340, I believe). Like many other users, we have found that the overflow is excessive - to the extent that the unit is currently switched off and we have reverted to using an electric kettle, as water was literally pouring out of the overflow and soaking the cupboard and contents. As we are on a water meter, this is literally pouring money down the drain. Franke claim this could be a water pressure problem but it seems unlikely as the overflow was OK when we first had the tap installed - but we will get a plumber to check it and if necessary fit a pressure relief valve - more expense. Apparently, if this does not solve the problem we can purchase and have fitted a replacement part at a mere £60 (plus fitting). Franke's customer support is via a helpline and email. Staff are polite but just offer a checklist of tests to perform yourself - they do not appear to have an engineer who could come out and check the unit. We would like to get it working again - but at present we see it swallowing up huge amounts of money, time and energy. If we had been aware of other reviews, we would not have chosen this make. Therefore cannot recommend.
