Everest kitchens

We have just had a new kitchen from Everest.

We have read the other reviews and can only assume that we have either been lucky or Everest have now got their act together.
The quality of the units is excellent - exactly as we hoped for and expected. We firmly believe that you get what you pay for and although the cost was a lot more than what we originally intended to spend the extra money has been well worth it.

The sub-contracted fitters were first class. Their workmanship left nothing to be desired and they worked quickly and efficiently. No time was wasted as they concentrated 100% on making sure we were completely satisfied. They were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

If we have any criticisms (and nothing is ever perfect with this type of home improvement !!), they are :
1. There was a 10 day delay between the fitting of the cabinets and the fitting of the work surface. This may be because we chose a corian work surface which could not be made until the base units were in place. We were not told about this beforehand and it did make for a fair bit of inconvenience.
2. The surveyor spent 5 hours measuring up and checking and still managed to miss on or two things - e,g. our existing window blind would not fit the new kitchen.
3. The salesman was bit OTT and painted too rosy a picture e.g. he told us that all units would be individually made to fit our kitchen. This was obviously untrue. He also told us that after paying the initial deposit we would pay nothing further until completion. Imagine our surprise when we received a telephone call one day saying that the units would be delivered the following day and we must hand a cheque to the delivery driver for 80% of the total cost !! Also,he applied pressure, which almost lost him the sale, by saying that we had to decide to buy that day. When we asked if we could sleep on it and phone him the day after he refused. We did not like this and almost said "no thankyou" purely because of his stance. After all, we were spending a lot of money.

These are only minor criticisms (mentioned only for the benefit of anyone thinking of going down the same path as we have) and overall we are delighted with our new kitchen. It looks good and has met with admiring glances from visitors to our house.
