Do Not Sell Your House With This Estate Agent. The

Do not sell your house with this estate agent. They recently sold our house for 8000 euros more then they told us, and they pocketed the extra money. (More then twice the amount of commission we were quoted in writing) We did not find out until we attended the notaries office to finales the sale. The estate agent did not attend and the buyer had flown in from Belgium, which meant that he'd we halted the proceedings, it would have caused a great deal of inconvenience and expense to all parties. We confronted the estate agent the day after, and she more or less laughed in our faces. Because she knew we would have to take legal action whilst beck home in England. I consider them to be deceitful in their dealings. They took money from us and it and They are also not a member of any estate agent regulatory body, so are carrying out this practice under the radar

Venture Residential , Luton , Bedfordshire

An absolute horrible and terrible experience would not recommend these bunch of amateurs to anyone. wasted 5 months of my time and not being able to sell it despite having a buyer within the first few weeks. as the process went forward the mortgage survey was carried out by the purchaser and thought everything was going smoothly and started looking and properties for my self to move in to when I rang them up to pass on my potential new property details to them they claimed my property was down valued by the surveyor and didn't think it was relevant for me the seller to know that and claim that I some how already knew. These estate agents lied through the teeth telling me the were chasing up what was happening and gave poor excuse after poor excuse which resulted in a 5 month chase of nothing. PS : DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME . STAY AWAY AND AVOID BEING LIED TO. TYPICAL ESTATE AGENTS.

Quite Simply The Best!

We looked for courtesy, efficiency, integrity and reliability when purchasing our property and we found it all at Cubitt & West (Rustington).

We particularly liked the genial personality of the Salesman concerned. He found us a property at the right price, the right place, and the right time, and we remain thoroughly satisfied customers. We cannot find any fault with this level of service.

Ashby's Lettings (of Ashby's Estate Agents)

They were supposed to (and AGREED to) refund our 575 GBP deposit minus 120 GBP for yard work. We have sent many emails, and they continue to say they "are waiting" for one thing or another, although we moved out 11 MONTHS ago.

The manager of Ashby's Lettings is Russel Baker. We have always CC'd a copy of our emails to Ashby's Estate Agents, the parent company to no avail. They have never responded.

Don't trust them unless you have a good solicitor.

Russell Baker is an extremely plausible conman who cares about no-one but himself. Many people have been taken in by him. It's no secret that he funds his expensive lifestyle and big house in the country by "loaning" other people's hard earned money with the promise of large interest payments, but the man has no intention of ever paying the loans back. When he decides to stop paying these interest payments as far as he is concerned you're history and he moves onto the next unsuspecting person. I know of many many people that the dishonest Mr Baker owes large amounts of money to. These people include family members, friends, employees, tenants, landlords, basically anyone he could sweet talk out of their money. Whilst he was running Ashby's Estate Agents he made a habit of pocketing rental payments and deposits. If you take a walk up the high street in Bovey Tracey and mention his name you'd be amazed at the amount of people happy to tell you of his dishonest behaviour. Most people know of him by reputation and many many have a story to tell you. This dishonesty dates back to Moorland Lettings, an letting agency in Ashburton owned by Russell Baker.

An Estate Agent I Would Recommend??!!

Ludlow-thompson Bow office

He was by far the most helpful estate agent I have ever dealt with. He was honest from the start, ensuring we secured the property we wanted, and helping to negotiate a good price. He gave us an exceptional discount for his services, and helped sort out any difficulties. Thoroughly recommended if you are looking for properties in E3!

Gazumped By An Estate Agent Employee!

My parent's offered on a house in the Isle of Wight and were assured by Pittis estate agents that their offer had been accepted and that the property had been taken off of the market. They paid £340 for a survey and once it had been conducted an employee of Pittis gazumped them by making a slightly higher offer which was accepted. The vendor agreed to repay the cost of the survey as she felt guilty but the estate agent, having zero morals insist that they have done no wrong as no paperwork was signed!

I believe that the estate agent has indulged in some sort of unethical practice as defined by the Consumer protection from unfair trading regulations 2008 which prohibit them from engaging in unfair commercial practices when dealing with consumers.

It specifically states that unfairness may arise from: not acting with the standard of care and skill that is in accordance with honest market practice and in good faith

It also states that: If you are selling or buying a property that your estate agent or his/her close associates want to buy, you must be told promptly and in writing.

Is this a normal experience and has anyone else been a victim of this practice? What course of action should I pursue next?

Make a complaint in writing to the Manager, then to the Association of Estate Agents if not the reply they want. If the Estate Agents arranged for access with the seller for the survey (i.e given you their number/passed your parents number onto the sellers) then this is proof that the offer would have been accepted and you had a verbal contract. Also evidence would be that they accepted your parents solicitors details as they would not have needed these if no offer was accepted. Be clear on what you want (the employees offer to be retracted and for your parents offer to be reinstated and reduction of fees/no fee)? If they subcribe to the AOEA then action will be taken as your are completely right, it is unethical and totally against the code of practice they subcribe to. If your parents no longer want to proceed ask for compensation

Bennett Holmes Northwood Hills - Do Not Use!

My partner and I have used many agents in the past but I feel the need to name and shame two individuals - Dean and Matt! They are nasty pieces of work! Thye are rude and arrogant not to mention manipulative! I'm so glad my partner chose to cut out the 'middle men' in the end to cut a long story short we went to the vendor who was shocked at the prices suggested by the agent, clearly for commission etc, so we dealt directly with the vendor! Just do not use Bennett Holmes in Northwood Hills!

Alan Harvey Property Services, London

Paul Goldie of Alan Harvey has been extremely helpful to deal with while moving out of our former property and into our new flat. He found potential properties that were suitable for our needs and was very amenable when it came to arranging repeat viewings and liaising with landlords about furnishings. He's also a very easy agent to get hold of and was more than happy to take several calls a day when it came to the point of finalising tenancy agreements and deposits.

We've always found Alan Harvey an excellent agency to deal with; the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and, crucially, don't try and blag their way into completing deals. Unlike some of the bigger estate agents, I've always found Alan Harvey's staff to be very trustworthy.

Paul has been hugely helpful through the moving process and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him, or Alan Harvey as a whole, for people looking for a trustworthy and useful estate agent.
