“Pain to work with”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 20/02/2013

I applied for a casual ongoing job through them and got it, it's a very niche position so that was sorted out fast and without problems. However, ever since signing up all the communication with Reed has been a major pain in the rear.

When I send them emails, they don't always get back to me, and half of my questions are never answered. This is a real issue when your work place is supposed to communicate through them, and you can't communicate about certain issues with the work place. I've had shifts cancelled but never received a message about this from Reed.

I've contacted them asking if they could confirm do I have shifts or not for upcoming days, and they ask ME who the person is at my work who's supposed to know that. Shouldn't the agency know this, considering the said person is the one who they've booked me with?

Same issue arose when I wanted to be paid after turning up at work just to be told there's no work to do for next days(since I wasted time and money for traveling there in vain). No one had told me about this cancellation. I asked Reed to sort it out, but they just threw the ball back to me and told me to go find the person who was responsible for doing the cancellation. If I'm working for the agency, agency should be the one to contact the work place!

The agency should be on the side of the employee, but with Reed employee is just left hanging without any kind of support or communication. Basically they're happy to take the money, you being the person who does all the job, but you won't receive any support or help from them.

An absolute joke. I'm so done with agencies.
