Payment never comes - Freelancers BEWARE!

When I first started out with PPH, I didn't really know what I was doing but I managed to score a great deal with a Client and earned some good money. I got charged a fee of 10% and all in all, it was a relatively good experience.

However, in the passing months, everything has changed! PPH have INCREASED their fees to a WHOPPING 15% PLUS VAT!!!!!! That is scandalous, in my opinion. However, in order to sweeten the blow though, they lure you into a false sense of security saying that if you earn over £175, your fee will drop to 3.5%. Great! Well, actually NO! Not great!

The fee goes down to 3.5% after you've completed £175's worth of earnings in a ONE MONTH period. The next month, your fee goes straight back up again to 15% until you earn another £175! AND, what's even worse is that they hold on to that 11.5% difference and offer you a "cashback service" instead. BUT it isn't even 11.5% because they work it out on what appears to be some kind of pro rata basis only they understand. Therefore, your money is STILL NOT YOUR OWN!!!! And you never really know where you are financially. Nothing is cut and dried with these people!

The simple fact is, if you don't earn enough money through the site, you also stand the risk of not being able to get hold of your money without MORE CHARGES being applied.

This month I earned a poultry $50. I've had $9 removed taken off that (15% + VAT) AND I can't even withdraw the money to my bank account (which is a free of charge service) because the sum is UNDER $70. I therefore HAVE to use PayPal, which incurs me yet ANOTHER CHARGE. All in all, I'll probably walk away with £20, if I'm lucky.

So, in summation. If you're happy to work for peanuts and don't mind waiting a couple of weeks to finally get your money and being charged ridiculous amounts at every step, then PPH are the people for you. Personally, I'm closing my account and will be concentrating on Elance.com instead. An Agent charges this much but at least they proactively work FOR you!

I'd say, don't waste your time or effort with PPH! It's not for professionals, just the monkeys who like peanuts!
