My blue Nile rings are awesome. I just bought my rings yesterday and I am very grateful for the good quality and good customer service. My girlfriend is very happy with the ring I bought her and now she feels great. I will come back to shop for other products. The reason for coming back is to get the same and similar experience.

Wide range of jewelry selections and I'm pleased with the pair of earrings that I ordered. You might want to do more research about diamonds first before buyingOverall, I had a positive experience.

just to add on, you probably want to check out sites like beyond4cs and pricescope before you shop.

“Simple: AVOID!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by bieldside on 06/12/2013

Honestly, greatly disappointed. Earrings (0.5ct) arrived quickly but were a badly matched pair - the girdle on one diamond visibly thicker to the naked eye, made the stone look dull. The settings very poorly constructed too - thin, misshapen and spiky ends. No certificate for the diamonds either, in hindsight a bonus as to return anything with a written certificate apparently means a deduction of GBP125. Return easy enough to organise but a GBP35 Fedex charge billed, and the real kicker - refund took 17 days from confirmation of return until cash finally returned back on my card, simply not good enough (e.g. Amazon does this in 4 days). I wouldn't be surprised if the company business model is to solely profit from the replacement certificate fee, inflated return shipping and interest on your held money. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Sadly, we hear this kind of tale all the time. Blue Nile, and all other online diamond merchants use the cheapest diamonds there are. Also, as a jeweller I'm telling you that no diamond below .25 pts ( 1/4 of a carat) will carry a certificate. If a jeweller tells you that a tiny diamond has a certificate it is not from a laboratory and is worth NOTHING. These companies make their money getting jewellery made in India, china or indonesia, labour is cheap, the material is cheap. Thats why your earrings were badly made, and badly matched. This isn't just a case of avoid just BLUE NILE, its go to a proper jeweller who works in the country you live in - either the USA, UK or a reputable jeweller in Europe...avoid cheap diamond dealers on the internet - REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

“MEDIOCRE STONES, RUBBISH SETTINGS.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 07/07/2013

We bought a ring from BN, and when we took it to be cleaned several months later, its salient faults were pointed out to us. It turns out that with careful searching , we could have bought a stone in a shop, which was better for the same money or less. Blue Nile are a middle man, selling mediocre stones at prices that are OK, but ask around, you may find stores who will sell you the same stone for less AND give you better advice. Blue Nile just get diamonds from dealers and put a percentage on top, they have an ax to grind, and their ring settings are rubbish and often full of what is called "porosity" from poor cheap castings made abroad. BEWARE !!

Sadly, as retail jewellers who make all our own work, we hear this kind of tale all the time. Blue Nile, and all other online diamond merchants use the cheapest diamonds there are, and you are right they just slap a percentage on other dealers crappy stones, which they find hard to shift. We have folk all the time who come to us with the most awful stones we've seen, when they could have paid us the same and got a better stone !!. All the settings these companies have are made overseas in india, china or indonesia - so they are poorly cast, and as stated above , full of air bubbles which constitutes porosity. Porosity makes settings liable to break as they are brittle. Think about the difference between a bar of Aero and cadburys dairy milk - overseas cheap castings are the aero - british made settings are the dairy milk. There are a lot of cheap diamond dealers on the internet - REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

“Very happy with my engagement ring”

★★★★★

written by on 01/08/2012

My partner purchased me a marquise cut milgrain engagement ring and it was sent internationally to us in Australia. It was a little big so I paid locally for a resize, but have to say that I am very happy with the quality of the ring. Being a Marquise cut, the centre diamond looks larger than I expected, and the surround is beautifully dainty and vintage-looking, which is just my style.

“No refund!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 23/03/2012

My first 3 purchases with Blue Nile went fine until my 4 th one. I purchased a pair of 14k yellow gold bangles worth SGD$ 800+. Everything was ok until I decided to return them for a full refund since the size was slightly big. It's almost 2 months now and they are still not sending me my refund of SGD$800+. I keep writing to them and I get a different story everytime. My last interaction with them was about 4 days ago. They told me that they will be sending me the draft check within 2 business days. I still have to hear from them. It's getting very frustrating writing to them and getting no where. I am now wondering if I am ever going to see my money. Their intentions are definately not honerable. I wouldn't recommend Blue Nile to anyone and I am never going to purchase any more items from them. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( very angry and annoyed :( :( :(

I have had a bad shopping experience with Blue Nile Rings. I didn’t get what I’d seen. May be they are good but I didn’t have a pleasurable shopping experience. I wasn’t satisfied with my purchase.

Really a nightmare. Paid a platinum ring with small diamonds about 1500 EUR on day 5th May 2011 with bank wire. On day 9 I sent the copy of the payment as they told me they had not yet received the payment. On day 10th May I sent the international Transaction Reference Number (TRN) as they were still not able to locate my payment. On day 11th I sent the SWIFT tracking message provided by my bank for the payment that definitely demonstrated that they received my money on day 9. Now it's day 18 and I am still waiting the ring or my money back! In the meanwhile they send nonsense emails with phrases like "we're trying to help" "thanks for your patience" but ANYONE is really helping on solving this nighmare! Really worst experience ever. Highly NOT recommended. Beware!

“Positives: ”

★★★★★

written by on 14/01/2011

Positives:
1. Excellent customer service.
2. MUCH better value than highstreet shops (have a look at the quality of the diamonds in these shops and compare the price)
3. FREE RESIZING! (if you FedEx it to them).
4. Trustworthy - it's a bluechip company / on the NY stock exchange.
5. Ring was delivered quicker than they stated on the website.

Can only think of one negative:
I suspect the platinum may not be the highest quality - but I don't mind having to pay for the ring to be polished every few years.

You get what you pay for with Blue Nile Rings. My husband and I got platinum bands from Blue Nile and they tarnished and scratched so badly. We were told that the platinum was poor quality when we brought the rings in for polishing at a local jeweler.

The ring that I bought is amazing. The quality of the work is superb and I received the exact diamond ring that I had specified. The 'track your order' part of the website is really helpful and tells you the exact whereabouts of your ring at all times. Customer services are also helpful - with an 0800 number to call from the UK which is open normal office hours.

★★★★★

written by new diamond owner on 09/04/2008

Blue Nile Rings is the BEST place to buy your diamond. Just call customer service if you have any questions after reviewing the website. You can get a colorless stone with a few inclusions that no one will ever see - an amazing cut for probably up to 40% less than retail - plus no tax> I picked my diamond out on Sunday night - wired the funds Monday morning and had the diamond in my hands Tuesday morning. I am an expert now thanks to blue diamond

I was disappointed in my ring once I received it because it did not look like what was in the picture. I should have purchased it from my jeweler in town whom was able to give me more options and at least I could see what I was buying!

“I would recommend Blue Nile to anyone who is...”

★★★★★

written by on 31/12/2007

I would recommend Blue Nile to anyone who is interested in quality and value. I was able to get a .74 carat diamond, D color, VS1, 2 sapphires and a platinum band for $5,000. I am certain that a ring of similar quality and beauty would have cost well over $8,000 elsewhere. I understand that some are weary of spending so much over the internet, but that fear factor is the only thing the competition has going for it. Blue Nile has a 30 day return policy, and I am certain that if you do your research, you will find Blue Nile to be a superior value. One last note for the men reading this; Walking into many jewelry stores is about as comfortable as asking for help buying feminine products. At Blue Nile, you get the luxury of learning about diamonds and viewing your ring with no pressure from the comfort of your own home. I called and spoke to someone at Blue Nile twice before making my purchase, and not once was I asked to buy. Consider the other amazing companies founded in Seattle, WA: Costco, Microsoft, Nordstroms, Starbucks and Blue Nile!! Check it out: www.bluenile.com

I am very impressed with Blue Nile's web site. It actually teaches you the ABC's of choosing a diamond engagement ring. I built my own ring on their web site, e-mailed it to my boyfriend & he bought it!!! It was so easy! I couldn't be any happier.

“We ordered our engagement ring from the Blue Nile...”

★★★★★

written by airwalker on 24/08/2007

We ordered our engagement ring from the Blue Nile Rings site, spending around £2500 in total, so a big spend on the internet, and as you can probably understand, we were nervous.

We searched the excellent user friendly website for the ring we wanted. The tutorials on each subject were excellent, and we found out so much more about diamonds. We ended up choosing our ring, but needed it in 6 days, which, within the 7 days they state on their website as trying to meet, they did everything they could and got it to us on time, and considering the diamond comes from the States to Ireland to be set, and then on to you, I don't think that is bad going!

They superseded our expectations in the customer service department, with the U.S. knowing exactly who we had spoken to in Ireland. It's not often Customer Service impresses me, but these guys know what they are doing, and they do it really well.

We have a fantastic diamond, which retails in High Street stores for around £5000. I am writing this review because, like me, before you purchase, you probably want to know how someone from the UK finds this company. I couldn't find any UK reviews, so I took the plunge, confident everything would be OK, as they have a 30 day money back guarantee, which even covers you for a simple change of heart. All their diamonds come with a GIA certificate, giving you extra peace of mind.

I will recommend these guys to all my friends and family, and I hope this helps you save your pennies and deal with one of the best companies I have come across for a long long time.
