My husband two sons and friends had a lovely evening meal. The service was also fantastic always made sure we had enough to eat and drink and the music was brilliant. Would really recommend the central bar for atmosphere , food and friendly service. Excellent

I just wanted to review the Central Bar Restaurant again. Ive been several times since my first review and things are as lovely as ever. Good food, nice surroundings & pleasant staff. I find i always get a friendly smile and a bit of warm banter in this place & will continue to visit as often as i can.

My first service proved lengthily yet average in the year of 2007. In 2010 Myself and a group of roughly 15 visited. To say the least the quality of food was terrible. It was a group visit that inevitably was not effectively catered for as others waited somewhat longer than necessary.
The company clearly employs workers for it's culture which shows no innovation what-so-ever for change. Un-polite management are the fault for a non-quality filled service and with their tone, lack of curtsy and clear objective to make PROFIT only,.. this is undoubtedly the main reason staff come across as unempowered and demotivated. Also the position of management for some proves unqualified. With a high staff turnover and main employees being related you can be commended for still actually being open.

To conclude I would not recommend this establishment, however if in Ballycastle do visit Margo's, O'Connors or The Pantry for a delightful service and AMAZING food that is ""VALUE FOR MONEY"" !!!!!

I took my mum and sister out for a meal today to this excellent bar/restaurant. The surroundings are lovely, the service is quick & friendly & the food is delicious. I had the cod & chips and i have to say, the cod was the best ive ever eaten. Polished off with a couple of nice cold beers & an over-all brilliant experience. I would highly recommend The Central in the beautiful town of Ballycastle. I will definitely dine here again, very soon. 10/10

Ate at Central Wine Bar at lunch time. Food was very reasonable and of excellent quality. Children enjoyed their food also. Husband had steak bagette and I had pasta. Portions were huge and staff were very friendly. It is clearly not a 5 star venue but with lunches costing around £6 what do you expect!

Have to agree with previous reviewer, had read about this place on Tripadvisor, and decided to give it a try over the New year, but was not impressed by the food or service at all, fish was not fresh but frozen and the ribeye like well worn shoeleather and not cooked medium rare as requested. Everything is covered in a multi coloured pesto, even my friends dish that was served in a questionable gravy had pesto on it! Nice surroundings cannot make up for "seasonal local produce" that is promised but sadly not delivered. Had hoped for better, will not be back.

“From plate to palate...EXCELLENT! ”

From plate to palate...EXCELLENT!

We went twice and both times the food and service were incomparable.

We met the senior chef and his sous chefs as well as the owners and it's very clear that they all share the same seasoned passion for food as well as hospitality.
Offers an extensive menu with many daily specials. Note: save room for dessert!

Ambiance is textured with open stone walls..combined with modern.

If this restaurant were in Soho or Tribeca..the prices would be astronomical and that is only IF you could acquire a reservation!
Locals...consider yourself lucky to have a gem like this nearby! Travelers to Northern Ireland should consider The Central a must visit!

My suggested dishes: local..fresh seafood...local produce.

We rate The Central at five stars!
