“not the quality i expected 52 restaurant bangor county...”

★★★☆☆

Restaurant 52 Bangor County Down, i purchased a £12 voucher to the total of £27 but had to pay extra for the combo £7.50 not told that it was not included in the lunch menu, also a coffee £2.50 which was to be included as there was tea of coffee included in the voucher price. The chicken coujons were really thin only the batter made them look bigger the chips were skinny and i mean skinny with grated cheese on top not a lot for the price. The main meal we both asked for was the half chicken mash and cabbage, the chicken was a small portion the mash too creamy and with the sauce on top made it a bit runny, the cabbage was a tablespoonful not worth adding to the meal there was so little, overall the meal was too salty and not a lot of flavouring, so when it came for paying we had to give an extra £9.50 on top of the voucher thank goodness we did not pay the full price for so little on plate. The restaurant was quite nice inside but did not live up to food expections for quality.

This lovely boutique bistro, Fifty Two, in Bangor, has a tempting menu based on fresh, local produce. For a romantic fine dining experience, the a la carte menu is varied, original and delicious, and the food is beautifully presented - think Master Chef! Last week I started my meal with langoustine risotto (£7), followed by perfectly cooked pigeon breast with spinach, hazelnuts, celariac puree and roast potatoes (£14.95). I finished off with coconut pudding with rum custard and ice cream. My hubby had the best steak he has eaten in years (and he is an expert in this area!) And a fabulous cheese board with port. The wine list is exclusive and very well priced. We had a wonderful Shiraz for £13. Service is excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. For a cheaper option go for the early bird set menu, meal deal for two or lunch. Lunches are currently £6.95 per main course. This restaurant is worth coming to Bangor for, and if you already live here, give it a go - you'll be back!
