Lake Como Hotel Grand Britannia Excelsior

The hotel is situated on the shore of Lake Como at Caddenabia.

The hotel is rated as 3 star but the interior is 5 star, decorated in tradtional italian style.

On arrival we were offered a room upgrade for 30 euros,and were given a deluxe balcony and lake view room, well worth the cost.

The room was very stylish and impeccably clean. My only critiscism is that there are no facilities in the room for making tea/coffee which has been the norm in all other hotels I have stayed in.

The food was excellent, plenty of choice and as much as you could want to eat. Local wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks, tea and coffee all included free and available all day.

Our drivers Darryl and Dave were first class. Truly excellent customer service from these guys they really looked after us, knowledge of the area - first class

Included trips - Half day trip to Como market, the market was dissapointing

I was expecting a tradional craft market but it was just like any market back home. The shops in Como town are worth a visit.

Full day to Milan you have to be on guard against pick pockets so take sensible precautions the beggars are off putting. Shops are expensive.

Optional excursions - A must the Bernia Express -fantastic. Then time in St Moritz, not impressed with St Moritz nothing much to see, rip off expensive.

Overall an excellent holiday location, hotel, food first class - I would certainly recommend Shearings and would certainly go back again

In terms of value for money cannot be beaten.
