“No Tutor Feedback and no response to Emails”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 09/06/2015

I have completed and submitted a HLTA Level 4 course and am chasing any response from my named Tutor or the lady from support link. I have emailed repeatedly to ask for advice with no replies. I have had no feedback or comments throughout the course. And cannot get through on your 0800 number advertised. Please contact me a.s.a.p to discuss.

Hi,

I really hope you have started to get some feedback from the college! I hope you don't mind me asking - Have you got anywhere with them? I have been waiting two months for feedback on my penultimate assignment which is resulting now in me having to extend the course in order to see whether the tutor has posted the assignment feedback to me or not on the student portal. I am in a situation where I do not want to put any more money in to this. However, I also do not want to waste the past two years of studying I have been doing! I am doing an Events management and wedding planning qualification which I was hoping to use to set up my own business! It just seems awful that they can do this and get away with it.

Look forward to hearing back from you

“AVOID LEAVE WELL ALONE”

★☆☆☆☆

written by xvfwjekkgfg on 28/05/2015

As per their website they have a dispute with the NCFE over payments. They are now refusing to refund their students that they have let down. I completed my course in May 2014 and tried repeatedly to get an answer from MDLC. I finally got a response in May 2015...one year later basically saying that the goalposts have been moved and I would have to do the whole thing again. This only happened AFTER I asked for my money back. In my view they are completely incompetent and unprofessional, and I feel totally unable to recommend them to anyone. I would however recommend that you AVOID them at all costs!

written by Laila385 on 28/04/2015

I completed all the work, received a letter of completion, but no certificate. Phoned up to enquire and was told NOTHING about the issues with NCFE for over 6 months of questioning by me. I had nothing but the run-around for a full 18 months after I had completed. I asked for my money back, and I was told that since the contract was with Cambridge Open College - who has gone into receivership - it was't their problem. Unless you want to risk having the same done to you - AVOID AVOID AVOID!

“Don't trust them!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by tsMcDonald251 on 25/04/2015

I enrolled in a twelve month level 3 Teaching Assistant course which was advertised, by the college, as being NCFE accredited. I am aware of the college's claims regarding NCFE withdrawing their services under erroneous circumstances but my problem is that the college never even registered me with NCFE (even though at my time of signing up they were still working together). I know this for a fact as I checked with NCFE once I was aware of the problems between them, although I had to find this out for myself because the college never made me aware that the awarding body would need to change owing to NCFE retracting their support. Therefore the fees paid for an NCFE accredited certificate were taken under false pretence and would never have obtained me an NCFE certificate even if NCFE were still prepared to accredit the college's courses. Despite a very long and drawn out period of complaint and trying to obtain a refund of the course fee I have been unsuccessful. The telephone number quoted on their website suddenly became unobtainable and we had to find a circuitous route to contact them and even though telephone discussions were held and lengthy correspondence entered into they refused to refund. Do not bother with this company as you will find yourself feeling totally let down and amazed that they can get away with it.

written by becks67 on 27/01/2015

I signed up for the 12 month Level 3 Teaching Assistant course in June 2014. I was very pleased with the service at first as my 7 assignments were marked in 2 days each time and all passes. I submitted my last assignment No 8 two weeks ago, it has not been marked and a paypal payment request appears asking me to pay for extra tutor support 6 MONTHS BEFORE THE END OF MY COURSE! and also after I had been promised 3 months extra support for supporting their petition. No reply to my two week old contact requests (they promise a 72 hour response) and they are not answering their phone. I also cannot access my account to print off any of my marked work. I am very disappointed as I wanted to start applying for jobs soon. I am looking into the possibility of sending my completed assignments to another online college so they can have it reassessed for a proper qualification as the focus award is useless. I will be making complaints about this company and I will be looking to get my money back.

Just had my review reinstated. It was actually 4 weeks ago now and my account is still locked asking for more money through PayPal. I did get a reply from my tutor a week ago to say my assignment has been marked but no mention of the result and I still cannot access the student portal to find out. No reply to my query through the portal. I have made a complaint to Action Fraud and also to Trading Standards.

Hi,
I just wondered if you ended up sending your completed assignments to another online college? Having read the reviews on here, I too am wondering whether to do a similar thing to get a QCF qualification, but it will mean more money and time. I'm a little nervous about continuing if it's not likely to be worth anything, but at the same time I have read that non-accredited courses will still be recognised by employers (Focus certification being one of them). From what I gather, a QCF is important for those wanting to go on and get a degree as the credits are recognised by universities. I really don't know what to do!

“MDL - Avoid Avoid Avoid”

★☆☆☆☆

written by NathanaelWarner240 on 27/01/2015

Signed up to a HLTA course. It stated that you had one year to complete the course along with one years tutor support. Completed assignments were marked and feedback left which is the only good thing that I could say about MDL. Then logged into the portal one day to find that the company had locked me out and I couldn't hand any more assignments in unless I paid them some more money to extend my course period. I had only been doing this course for 6 months and therefore had six months remaining. Numerous attempts to try and get a response and find out what was happening and NO RESPONSE FROM MDL. A colleague of mine eventually got a reply back informing her that they only offered six months tutor support and to also complete the course and if she paid the extra amount then she could carry on with the assignments. MDL is a complete and utter money grabbing place who has no intention of ever giving you what you signed up for. Avoid Avoid Avoid. You will end up handing money over to them for a years support and to complete the course only to find out that they lock you out after six months with no warning at all. Terrible service. I will definitely be reporting them for mis selling. Please read this and other reviews and be very careful. In our current climate, money is hard earned and the people who run MDL should hang their heads in shame.

“Review of My Distance Learning College”

written by AnonReviewer123 on 20/01/2015

I am enrolled on two courses, feedback has been late since the beginning and tutor support hasn't been that helpful. Over the weekend I was unable to log in and found it was because they have shortened my courses by 6 months and asking for me to PAY MORE MONEY for them to be extended, I signed up to them both as 12 month courses, they are still being advertised and sold as 12 month courses, yet this college think they can get away with shortening everyone's courses, without warning. I have contacted Trading Standards who agree the college is in breach of contract and hence should give out refunds. AVOID THIS COLLEGE AT ALL COST. There phone line is no longer working and they don't reply to emails. I am now going to write them a letter, as advised by trading standards. I'm hoping they will see this review and everyone else's and rectify their wrong doings. I WOULDN'T EVEN RECOMMEND THIS COLLEGE TO MY WORST ENEMY. Atrocious service, I will not give up without a fight!!

Purchased Community Mental Health Course last February with a year to complete feedback and communication at first was good, with quick responses. I am now a month away from finishing my course and feedback communication is terrible my assignment feedback is a month late have left seven emails one to my tutor asking what is happening received nothing helpful. Tutor emails to say my support is ending soon but doesn`t mark my work joke! My Distance Learning number isn`t ringing out what to do?Four weeks left and to assignments needing to submit and collect feedback plus the one i`ve been waiting a month for. Help you be much appreciated as I want to finish the course and collect my certificate.

Hi, I'm the same as you!!! Different course, but I purchased mine on the 10th feb 2014 for 12 months attempted to submit my final assignment last week and its saying I need to purchase additional tutor support even tho I'm paid up til 10th Feb 2015!! I've rung the 0800 number many times to get an automated message saying this number is no longer registered, I've emailed their admin team only to have the email returned saying error email address unknown and I've submitted two urgent tickets on my student dashboard both of which have no reply. I have even contacted the focus awards who supply my certificates for them to agree with me that my support shouldn't have expired yet but they cant help me. I am now totally lost and upset as I have spent almost a year on this course for what now seems to be absolutely nothing!!!! Would you email me if you have any update?? Wish you luck

After A LOT of pestering I have finally got somewhere! With no look from my distance learning I emailed the company I brought the course from ncc learning who got the ball rolling. I received an email on my dashboard stating that there helpline was disabled due to the high volume of queries which they wanted to answer first. My tutor eventually gave me feedback and extra tutor support. It's nice to know things are looking more positive but I still have a way to go with getting the rest of my work marked, course completion and certificates.
Let me know how you get on!

I never received a response. Never again do not use them, if you want a decent education and course go to The Open Uni.

“teaching assistant course review”

written by Stacey.C on 10/11/2014

I purchased a my distance learning teaching assistant course last year and 3 week later got diagnosed with Breast cancer. I rang and asked for a refund as I was in no mental or physical state to study at that time. They refused to refund me and told me to sell the course on myself to someone who could take it over. I hadn't the time or energy to advertise it so I lost my money and I am very upset with how I was treated in such extreme circumstances. Very unhelpful and uncaring people. Stacey from Huddersfield.

Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We do value feedback from our students. Whilst we do have very clear refunds policies that are set out in the terms and conditions section of our website, we can and do override these due to students' personal circumstances. I cannot comment on the decision that was taken at the time, however if you could let me know your full name and student number I will arrange for the matter to be considered again.

Kind regards

This company is a joke! All of these previous positive reviews have suddenly come to light due to the fact the My Distance Learning College are asking people to give a positive review in return for the students to have a free extension of their work! How about you give us the course certificates that we paid for instead? Recently it has been announced that this college is no longer giving out the qualifications/certificates that people sign up for. No refunds either. I'm halfway through a course not sure if it's worth carrying on and if I'll get my certificate at all, and there are hundreds of others in the same position. Please don't waste you money on these people..

Thank you taking the time to post your comments. Course certificates are issued by the relevant awarding body not colleges such as MyDistance Learning College.

With regards to the dispute between MDLC and NCFE. Firstly I would just like to clarify that My Distance Learning College is not been terminated and we are advising all student to continue with studies as normal. We are currently in dispute with NCFE however this doesn't mean that our students will not receive accreditation upon completion, any students on IIQ courses who are not registered with NCFE will be registered with our new awarding body Focus Awards. Here is a link to a recent statement that has been released by MDLC. Please read through the statement and if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

“Excellent method to study”

written by rqMilne171 on 31/08/2014

I took the SEN Teaching Assistance course, my tutor sent me all the units and assignments for all my course, I really like studying online, after work or on my free time, nobody push me to finish quick and they checked my homework each time I sent it, if something wasn't good they let me do my homework again, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND my distance learning. After I got my certificate I applied for work now I have been offered two jobs, so I am very happy. Thanks to My distance Learning, I wish they can have Postgraduates courses or Master. The only thing I wast happy was the tittle of my certificate, it should include my level and NCFE, and never go to notifications there is people who will ask you for money, never enter your bank details. The course never will ask you for money or your bank details.
