I made a small claim with LV following a lightening strike. I tried claiming for my PC, landline phone and cooker. I paid a £250 excess. Collected my PC and repaired it really badly. I had to get a friend to fix it for me. They gave me a voucher for a new phone without fuss. An assessor came and looked at my cooker. I had to chase and chase to get the result of the assessment of my cooker. I was told that it wasnt installed properly and they wouldnt repair or replace. I complained about my PC and my cooker. I received a voucher from the PC repairer for the poor service I received. I never received any response from LV about my cooker. My husband repaired it by changing the power cable himself luckily. It cost me £250 excess, I received a £40 voucher for the phone, I had a badly repaired PC (my friend who knows about PCs told me it would not have cost much at all to repair the PC) and they wouldnt repair my cooker. When I asked how much it all cost as I was told that if the cost of service/repair was less than the £250 excess, I would receive a refund. Of course, they verbally told me that my claim cost more than £250 so I wouldnt receive a refund. I asked for a breakdown of costs, which was never sent me. My renewal of insurance happened a month after my claim, so I just renewed with LV. However, I have just cancelled my insurance renewal for this year. I spoke to an adviser who could not care less why I wasnt renewing this year. I volunteered my reason for cancellation and she really wasnt at all interested. No customer care, no follow up service. I would not recommend them at all. Poor repair service and communication. Very frustrated by my experience. I feel really ripped off.
