Unbelievable scenery! Loved the Rocky Mountaineer and their staff. So much fun! The Banff and Lake Louise Fairmont hotels were the best!

“Canadian Rockies winter”

★★★★★

written by Blake_from_Australia on 23/01/2024

Fresh Tracks organised a great holiday for us which the family really enjoyed. Started in Vancouver where we were picked up at the airport and stayed at the Fairmont. Had a great dinner organised and trip around Vancouver. Took the train to Jasper (VIA was good and cheaper than Rocky Mountaineer but would go Mountaineer next time). Great sightseeing organised in Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff and off to Calgary. Only problem was in Calgary, the limo company sent 1 car when 2 were ordered so had to get that fixed. Otherwise back in Vancouver again a great stay. All the rooms (at Fairmont hotels) were very good and comfortable. So yes, Fresh Tracks did a great job.

“Fresh Tracks / Canadian Rockies train trip”

★★★★★

written by on 16/05/2023

We had a wonderful time on our trip. The scenery was fantastic and beautiful. Train trip was top notch. Service, food and drink were amazing. Got to experience all possible weather conditions! Cool – warm, dry, rain and snow! Just the right amount of activities and covered meals, giving us flexibility for our choices. Thanks to you and all of the staff at Fresh Tracks, Rocky Mountaineer and Fairmont. Everyone was friendly and helpful!

“They're fantastic reviews are a bunch of bull -...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by FloJ on 12/10/2022

We booked this trip because we had done a trip on a train in Alaska that was amazing. Unfortunately this trip was a disaster. The train tracks are horrible and therefore the ride is terrible - would wake you up in the middle of the night thinking that you'd been in a major accident. The freight trains have priority. So you're constantly pulling over so the freight trains can pass. Every train ride and we had several since we went from the west coast to the east coast was 2 to 6 hours late. Just because they're late doesn't mean they're feeding you dinner. When you get to your hotel everything's closed so no dinner. The hotels are substandard and the overall experience was terrible. We paid for top of the line so at least we were able to move about a bit. The people that paid less were trapped in a small little seat for the whole duration of a 14-hour train ride. They were all miserable. I have no idea how fresh tracks gets good ratings because it's a horrible trip. And extremely expensive for a horrible trip. When we spoke to people in Canada they said they never travel on those trains because the tracks are destroyed by the freight trains therefore it's a very uncomfortable ride. Do yourself a major favor and avoid fresh tracks like the plague. Not only will you save money you will have a much better time if you just rent a car and do it yourself.

“Buyer Beware”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 23/05/2022

Buyer Beware with Fresh Tracks. This a travel agent and not Rocky Mountaineer. I booked and paid for a Goldleaf tour on Rocky Mountaineer. I received 3 star treatment. Was really disappointed. I would not recommend using them. We had 17 people on the Mountaineer train that had booked through Fresh Tracks and everyone felt the same. We loved seeing Canada and all the majesty of the Canadian Rockies but was extremely disappointed in what we got for what we paid.

These people are not reputable. How they are still in business is a mystery to me. we lost over $200 deposit booked before Covid then lockdown occurred. They basically said - sorry out of luck. I would never ever deal with these jokers.

“Does the pandemic allow trips through Canada in April...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by JeanLB1 on 02/03/2021

Fresh Tracks are advertising train trips through Canada starting in April 2021. Have they received confirmation from the Canadian authorities that the Covid pandemic situation will allow these trips at that point in time? Potential customers should check that crucial information. If Fresh Tracks have not received that insurance, how can they sell these trips? If the trips are cancelled, will Fresh Tracks reimburse the customers? Or will Fresh Tracks, as they have systematically done in the Corona pandemic situation, bluntly apply their terms and conditions? A few of them below: 4. NO WARRANTIES- Fresh Tracks provides no warranty regarding the completeness, accuracy, reliability or quality of any information provided with respect to any Travel Services. 6. DEPOSITS, PAYMENTS AND FEES-(ii) Booking Deposit A non-refundable deposit (“Booking Deposit”) equal to 30% of the total cost of the Travel Services (excluding applicable taxes and fees) will be required at the time you book your trip. (v) All Deposits, Payment and Fees are non-refundable. All of the deposits, payments and fees paid in relation to any Travel Services or Insurance are non-refundable I know what I am talking about: Fresh Tracks refused to reimburse the 7,300 US dollars of our “Booking Deposit” paid on 21.02.2020 for a trip mid-August 2020 that they cancelled on 15 May.

Fresh Tracks will not reimburse you. I lost $2000 plus deposit. Booked prior to COVID19 for a mid year 2020 trip.

When they cancelled, they basically said - out of luck.

I would never deal with this company.

“Fresh Tracks Canada love your money!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by YusufChavez268 on 18/10/2020

We booked with Fresh Tracks Canada for 23,000 US dollars a train trip (VIA RAIL) from Vancouver to Toronto in summer 2020 and paid a deposit of 7,300 US dollars. Fresh Tracks informed us in May that the trip was cancelled because of Corona. They "offered" to book the same trip in 2021 against an immediate payment of 4,900 US dollars or there would be a price increase of 5 to 8% (Note: inflation rate foreseen to be of the order of 2% only). We could not accept because of our ages. Fresh Tracks refused to reimburse the deposit. Quote from the owner: ”Consider that last year 22 million people visited Canada, most of them from April to September - then imagine the economic impacts on all the businesses that depend on that when that number of visitors turns to zero. Refunds are just not possible on a mass scale such as this”. In other words: tough luck for you, customer, good opportunity for me, the owner of Fresh Tracks Canada. We should have read the assessments of Fresh Tracks by their own employees on Glassdoor.ca : "all they care about is making as much money as they can.", “terrible management, overworked, they don’t care about the clients only the profits, no longer an actual travel agency as its more of a call centre"... We would have realized that Fresh Tracks Canada is the travel agency to avoid at any price. We had fortunately bought expensive "Cancel For Any Reason" insurance with Allianz Global Assistance, business partner of Fresh Tracks. Twenty (20) weeks after Allianz Global Assistance acknowledged having received our claim for reimbursement of our deposit we have no heard of them in spite of several reminders. We start to fear that we shall never get our money back. Altogether this was a total disaster for us, obviously not for Fresh Tracks Canada! And also not for Allianz Global xxxx!

“Cancelled Trip”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 27/08/2020

My wife and I had a terrible experience with this company. Sent them a few thousand dollar deposit for a rail trip scheduled for early October 2020 - Eastern Canada. Then COVID19 hit. The sleeper rail portion of the trip was cancelled and they offered a reschedule or cancellation with loss of deposit. I wasnt about to send them another $5000 for the uncertainty of when or if we could ever take the trip. I did not know when US citizens would be allowed back into Canada and Fresh Tracks was of no help, no ongoing communication, just a basic reschedule or cancell. We did not purchase trip insurance due to the high cost. Needless to say, we lost our deposit and they would not bend - not even offer a compromise. We didnt change the terms of the trip, they did. I WOULD NEVER TRAVEL WITH FRESH TRACKS AND DOUBTFUL THAT I WOULD EVER RETURN TO CANADA.

“HALIFAX TO VANCOUVER BY TRAIN”

★★★☆☆

written by Alivia1972 on 30/10/2017

ALTHOUGH I ENJOYED MOST OF THE TOURS, CANADA IS BEAUTIFUL. I WOULD NEVER USE FRESH TRACKS AGAIN. TOO MANY CLICHES, VERY POORLY PLANNED & THOUGHT OUT. I HAVE BEEN ON MANY TOURS THAT RAN EXTREMELY SMOOTHLY, THIS TOUR WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. PARTS WERE VERY SMOOTH BUT THERE WAS TO MANY AGGRAVING THINGS, DEFINITELY NOT THE PERFECT TRIP.

“Trip for Dad 2013”

★★★★★

written by 36Campbell on 16/02/2015

Not another year should pass without a review for Fresh Tracks Canada. The attention from staff in planning a successful trip for my 92 year old Dad to Montreal and Quebec City was remarkable. Through email and telephone calls, I was able to make preparations that made the trip a total success. The limo guided tours were perfect for a gentleman who has hearing deficits and difficulty walking long distances. Our guides were well informed and flexible about our schedule and even adding additional time to extend our tours. fresh tracks provided excellent service for airport transport, train accommodations, and hotels that my father enjoyed. It is 2015, Dad just turned 94, and he still talks about how much he enjoyed his Canadian adventure! Now he wants another trip just like it!

“Would do it all again”

★★★★★

written by on 14/11/2013

Had a wonderful trip seeing Canadian Rockies in all its Fall glory with snow capped peaks, a multitude of greens, reds orange and yellow foliage in the air and on the ground. Animals foraging for food in the National Parks, the air crisp and not too cold. The chosen accomodation exceeded expectations and the hosts were very friendly and helpfull. The staff at Freshtracks also exceeded our expectations and were ready to accomodate our special requests quickly and efficiently. Can't wait until we try another Canadian adventure and travel again using Freshtracks. The highlights of the trip were seeing Black bears going about their daily routine, cheeky squirrels, roaming mountain goats and big horn sheep, the ever changing views from the car- every turn of the corner we had something new to see and often to photograph. A wonderful experience. The only thing I would have liked to know was a little more about the accommodation and some of the activities that could be undertaken at some of the lesser known places we stayed at in advance of our arrival and in planning the trip.

You were lucky that the trip took place. Our trip was cancelled because of COVID and Fresh Tracks Canada refused to reimburse us. Conclusion: There is a lot to worry about when booking with Fresh Tracks!

We found Fresh Tracks to be just what we needed, they fixed us up on an Alaska cruise that was beyond our wildest dreams and we would never have found it without them. They new all the options that were available and gave us insights on the strengths and weaknesses of each. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary in North America these are the folks to call.

“Trans-Canada by VIARail, from Quebec City to Vancouver”

★★★★★

written by on 29/10/2013

We had a wonderful trip which included stops in Toronto, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff Springs, Jasper again, and Vancouver. We had an opportunity to drive to and walk across the Columbia Ice Fields and take the gondola ride at Banff. Our hotel accommodations were superb, and we also had superb assistance at the front end from an amazing trip planner who helped us with the details of the trip and sent us detailed instructions that provided a day-by-day outline of our activities. I cannot say enough about her, including, apparently, her name. She was terrific. A couple of small things could have been improved. We were confused as to how much time to allow for the gondola ride, because the trip plan said 2 hours, but it turns out that it was 8 minutes each way, and we could have stayed at little as 20 minutes or longer if we chose. This detail would have been helpful in planning our checking out of our hotel, etc. I think we got a little tired of the one-night-per-site aspect of the end of the trip, but i'm not sure there's any solution to that, other than staying a lot longer for a lot more money. We didn't have enough energy to explore the places in the Rockies because we had to focus on checking in, out and how much time we had between. Our energy level had more to do with that. The Rockies were spectacular, and being on a real glacier was an experience. The one thing I would suggest changing about the trip, and this is a VIARail issue, not a Fresh Tracks issue, and that is being able to use a credit card for all bills on board the train. This is what the cruise ships do, and it's very convenient not to have to worry about currency for tips, etc. And getting drinks was a bit more complicated because we couldn't keep arunning tab, but had to pay different people at meals and at other times if we wanted drinks. These are rather small issues, but would make the trip easier if they could be addressed The reservations were handled very competently and it was nice not to have to worry about planning things. We are grateful for that.

“A Perfect Vacation!”

★★★★★

written by Kacee3410 on 26/10/2013

What a wonderful 40th anniversary trip we had. And it was YOUR work and help and knowledge that made it happen. Essentially I just sent the money and showed up on time! ;-)) All the tedious details were taken care of so we never had to worry about anything other than where to eat meals and which activities to occupy our day. We so loved the fact we had our own time to explore without being on a guided tour, yet never had to worry about the hotel or transportation details. And the itinerary you sent was so complete I always knew when gratuities were paid, or when I was responsible. The time tables of our limousine pick up and drop offs, train arrivals/departures, everything was seamlessly in place so we could essentially just enjoy the entire trip without a worry. When we got our packet of boarding passes and itinerary it was so well organized, complete with maps and phone numbers and everything we could possibly need. Very reassuring to have, and easy to copy and leave with our house sitter. Your company was a joy to work with, always accommodating, helpful, friendly and following up on any query with a fast response. It seems to me that you all truly enjoy what you do, and that attitude is passed along to your clients! Our hotel locations were outstanding--just walk out the door and we were ready to start touring; amongst great restaurants and always, safe & clean, while the staff in each & every hotel went out of their way to make us welcome and offer any and all help we could possibly need. I appreciate your ordering up fall-perfect weather as well. 18 to 21 (C) (65 to 70 F) nearly every day--except the full-day we spent on the train which was cold & gray & wet... how perfect is that?? And thank you for your little 'extra's' that put a smile on our face when the hotels started to acknowledge our 40th anniversary with a few special goodies. It put a smile on our face for sure! When reflecting on the trip my husband's favorite part? The food-walking tour in Montreal!! So a BIG thank you for that gift! He kept asking me 'Did you know it was going to be like this?" Obviously he had something else in mind and so this was new, fun, and tasty to boot! He had a smile on the entire afternoon, especially after the Montreal Bagel stop... he'd heard about them, but hadn't found them until then! On our train ride to Baie Saint Paul we were seated with a delightful French couple who chatted the entire time. The scenery and food on the train were excellent, but our conversation and bonding with this couple just made the morning perfect. On the return trip they discovered we weren't seated at the same table and marched to the attendant to have it changed so that we could sit together again, 'so you won't be lonely'.... how much more delightful was the day with their company. I returned with stories, local history, recipes, and ideas of souvenirs that were uniquely Quebec. The day just seemed to fly by with their company and kindness. I was sorry we didn't spend more time in Halifax for the hotel alone was worth more time to enjoy by itself. Again, a perfect location, 2 blocks from the wharf, 2 blocks from the rental car pick-up. And a marvelous breakfast to send us off with! Anyway, a delightful journey filled with great memories. I won't complain that the warmest clothes I took remained unworn either!

“Canadian Rockies tour and train vacation”

★★★★★

written by Rockies13 on 26/10/2013

It was the best ever; something we'd been anticipating for many yrs. I found Canadians to be very friendly and helpful everywhere we went. The lodging was great. Of course the Chateau at Lake Louise was super elegant and very nice. Our tour guides were very good with a sense of humor and very knowledgeable about the area. We liked the Caribou Lodge in Banff where we stayed for 3 nights with their choices of either the dining room or bar menus. We loved the history and information on the area. The Columbia Ice Fields was a great experience. The train ride was the best. The staff were funny, informative and helpful. The food was excellent. We saw the most wildlife from the train on the first day of the trip. It was a great trip and met our expectations. Thank you Fresh Tracks. You were so helpful no matter how many questions we had. Thank you!

“trans-Canada experience”

★★★★★

written by on 25/10/2013

We went from Vancouver to Halifax by train. The experience was fabulous as we took 26 days to make the trip. I would highly recommend the adventure. We had a few minor glitches, but I was probably expecting more hiccups than we had. So that part went extremely well. The choices of hotels and travel arrangements were very nice. We especially enjoyed staying in the old parts of Montreal and Quebec City. VIA Rail was a nice experience, except for the Quebec City to Halifax, where the sleeper that night traveled over some relatively rough track. The food and interaction with other passengers more than made up for the lack of sleep on that leg of the trip, and the other sections of train travel much more comfortable. We had a great variety of tours to see the diversity that makes up the country. We didn't have a bad experience with anyone, whether on the street or as we traveled. I highly recommend the trip across Canada to anyone with the time and interest to do it.

“Perfectly planned trip”

★☆☆☆☆

written by jcrispin on 25/10/2013

From beginning in Vancouver to end everything happened as carefully planned, with excellent service, superior accomodations good values for the money and suggestions for restaurants that turned out to be very helpful. It was one of the best planned trip we have ever taken. We recommend both this particular trip for the beauty of the mountains and for the care in which it was put together.
