written by 1980Dawson on 19/03/2024

We booked for 3 nights with a family for small brake from city . Everything was good till we wanted to do bbq like in every caravan park we have visit from ranger that we not allowed but nobody game any information not on welcome pack or when I book it. We talk with reception lady and she found it only in inside rules but no sight or even sticker that it’s not allowed to do it. I am not coming in caravan that I need to cook in the oven.

“Good facilities ruined by the workforce”

★★☆☆☆

written by Natalierowe87 on 21/08/2023

I booked a long weekend with my two children, elderly and disabled grandmother and my two dogs. At first glance the facilities are good, it's evident that's the park has had a make over. That unfortunately is where the compliments end. I booked online and requested an easy access caravan for my grandmother. This wasn't noted and I was told well that's not on your notes. No offer to aid with this at all. The caravan was way out and both toilet seats were broken. The radiator in the main bathroom was rusted red. There is no stage for the entertainment, they were literally doing everything from a corner of the room out of a cupboard as the club house is too small for the parks needs. The park as a whole is not disabled friendly and the shop is completely to disabled people putting them at a massive disadvantage if not discrimination especially if they holiday independently. On our second day bar staff were arguing with each other behind the bar over a till instead of serving, one left a beer tap on while changing a barrel, as a pub manager that didn't give the best impression. While being served our food the waking staff delivering to our table, delivered half our order then delivered to a other table before finishing ours. The poor girl looked nervous and new and didn't know table numbers and if this is the case she should of had a training buddy with her. Poor training leads to poor staff retention. My meal wasn't great, chips were solid enough to hurt my teeth. Over all I would not recommend this park and I'm very disappointed. I only see my grandmother once a year and to be honest this has ruined this year's visit. I do hope my comments are taken on board and improvements though by the attitudeice witnessed not hopeful on that. Its a shame as I previously the park itself is nice.

“Orfull place people are vile it is a dump ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MiloBruce on 11/08/2017

This is in the middle of no where with nothing going on, the place is dirty and poorly run, most people live there which some are nice but most seem like they have come from benefit street, the children where horrid to mine stole bikes and toys, threatened them, threw stones the list goes on, report to office and they do absolutely nothing about it. You couldn't pay me to go back to Coghurst. The club house is over priced and food well I wouldn't give it my dogs. Save your self the money and head ake do NOT go. The pool is tiny and silly shape, no changing rooms which is just shocking sorry they have 1 room.

“Do where to park your car to many caravans ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Hoilday2016 on 30/06/2016

We arrived site looked very untidy ,my husband went in to collect our caravan key etc. He came out and said you are not going to like we are up top of a hill and car is right down bottom on car park well we found it after 40 minutes there wasn't anywhere to park so had to park on side of road where you should park.my husband went of to find caravan he said that he isn't going to take our cases etc all that way and I couldn't manage it either cause I've got very bad arthritis in hips and knees feet. So we went back to reception and she kindly gave us another caravan , she said that this caravan should be ok it's parking next to your caravan it took us 50 minutes to find it must have drove round park few times.anyway found it in the end no where to park to many caravans for parking spaces and also there was a black car parked right in front of caravan steps making it very hard for me to get up and specially down the steps. We had to go out to shop in evening so when we got back there was someone parked right front of our big window in caravan.. I caravan was parked right up against a hedge so we couldn't see a thing out of two windows. The trouble is there isn't enough spaces to park your car and also there was a lot of old dirty static caravans 7 in total n the car park spaces . 4 nite break ended up one night break went home the following day Will not be returning to cog hurst holiday park again

“worst site ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by wlSchaefer395 on 28/10/2015

I work for an independant holiday review site and my job is to go and give a honest opinion of places i stay,i can say in my time ive stayed at good and bad sites but nothing quite as bad as coghurst, stayed there for 4 days midweek on 19th oct ,arrived there and went to reception where i was greeted by 3 staff who thought it wad a chore to help you,i was in a gold caravan ,there best(not) thick mud led you to caravan and upon entering found no beds made even though.paid for, complained to staff and again it was an effort to help, entertainment was non existant apart from very pricey bingo of which they make a killing !food was cold every meal and thrown on the plate ,bsr staff all on their phones, site is welcoming for owners only and holiday makers are treated with contempt, avoid at all costs unless you enjoy hell

“The worst caravan I have ever had a holiday in !!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Bazzmic on 03/05/2015

Did a google search for static caravan sites near Hastings and Coghurst Hall Holiday Park came up, looked nice in the pictures on the web page caravans all on different levels overlooking a nice big lake. Booked a week and on arrival everything looked ok picked up the key followed the directions to the caravan and slowly my heart sank into my boots as the road turns to a mud and gravel track and the caravans are nowhere near the lake views, we count along to number 65 and find our caravan (Silver Plus) is in the middle of a building site and our only view was the building site. As we approached the caravan we found our bed linen outside in a plastic bag laying on the steps by the door. We went in and the main thing that struck you was the dirty stained carpet, kitchen work top with crumbs, toilet dirty with urine stains and then the double mattress in the bedroom looked worn out with no mattress protector and the pillows were as flat as a pancake and again with no pillow protectors. The bedroom with the two single beds had mattress protectors and pillow protectors but they looked dirty, the three quilts were just thrown in this room on the beds the two single quilts didn’t look too bad but the double quilt was yellow and stained I wouldn't let a dog sleep on it. The whole van didn't look like it had been hoovered we even found a pair of old ladies pants on the bedroom floor and a sweet on the lounge floor. We purchased two mummy sleeping bags from a local sports direct shop and used these on the seating area in the caravan. The whole feel was dirty and grime with everything you used or touched. If you felt you were on holiday and could have a lie in bed forget it the workmen are on site early and start working at 8am. My overall view would be don't do it save your money or find another caravan site.

“Dirty and contained rubbish plus soiled pants!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Sweetie80 on 17/03/2015

We decided on gold as it was March and we have 3 babies under 3yrs old caravan was dirty had not been cleaned floors black and rubbish under beds toddler walked out of toilet carrying a pair of soiled pants that had been left their absolutely disgusting! Things were broken one heater not working one light had no bulb or switch! Heater in front room never went off all reported but not fixed whilst we were there. We had to leave early as on our 3rd day toddler got sick really sick then one of our twins got sick so we decided to go home.we had travelled far to visit family in that area but it had to be cut short/cancelled due to sickness now I'm unsure if it was the dirty pants/caravan that had caused this so I told them my thoughts and have been offered apologies and a FREE stay at a different site of our choice

“AVOID this terrible site, don't go there”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Felicityc406 on 20/09/2014

TO AVOID – run away from this holiday park I wanted to believe that negative comments on internet about this park were false and that customers were exaggerating .... But in fact, everything is negative in this park from A to Z. I came to this park (as couple), with a poodle for a stay of 4 nights (Monday to Thursday) The person at the reception told me that with an animal, I could only access a mobile home "bronze"; (Price £ 94.00 + covers) I ask to see the mobile home before I decide to rent it: impossible (very handy !!!) I ask if I can park my car next to the mobile home during the stay: No - you have to use the parking provided for (20/30 meters in the wet grass )- mowed but not picked up, so you get plenty of wet grass on your shoes – and it is difficult for rolling suitcases; but it is not important and not the problem of the staff who do the bookings and take the money. I have come back at 4pm: check in time Be careful :This site is situated along a very narrow road, when I say very narrow, it is VERY VERY narrow, two vehicles can not pass easily; local drivers drive as crazy on this road; if you like your vehicle and your mirrors, run away!!!!!!! This is good advice. But of course, this is not the fault of the site. I give you the information so that you are warned. So back at 4pm; difficult to park in the parking lot assigned to these mobile homes, because too small; if you come back after 5pm: good luck. I get the keys at reception (linen is supposed to have been deposited in the mobile home). 1st contact: a disaster; impossible to believe that a brand like "park holidays' can rent mobile homes in this state; - rickety stairs and slippery - signs of water infiltration in several places - under the mobile home: dirty and full of trash - curtains that seem dated decades So first visual appearance: not very engaging I open the door a horrible odour, a mixture of cigarette smoke, moisture and musty staring us in the throat ........ I thought that with a good draft, it will go ; Unfortunately, no. This mobilehome has not seen a vacuum cleaner for years; cleaning is non-existent, Here's a list of defects: - smoke detector right above the toaster : if you toast some bread : alarm. - Draw missing from the kitchen cabinet - living area: no woodboard on 1 meter under the cushion in the corner: do not sit there or you fall through - Missing parts in the refrigerator: vegetables basket, handle, bar to bottle holder in the door, so not usable - Cushions covered in animal hair of all colors , and very tired - Linen thrown on the cushions so covered with dust and hair, so you sleep breathing this horrible odour. - Water marks and runs on different sides of the mobile home and on the ceiling this was inside - Ceiling lights: full of dead flies and insects. - Mould in the bottom of the shower - non-existent water pressure in the shower - work tops of the kitchen and living room table: sticky, uncleaned. - Cobwebs throug all the rooms - Duvets and pillows: stinky and very very tired This type of mobile home should have been removed from the park many years ago; but "park holidays" does not hesitate to rent it to tourists and pet owners. Very disappointed with this mobile home, we decide to leave the park the next day ; we only stayed for 2 nights instead of 4; we complained to the reception, which obviously gives no refund; the manager was called: he did not open his mouth, and not an apology. The front desk staff told us that she would have offered to change mobihome if we had stayed (strange: there was NO availability when we arrived !!!). Note: acceptable food at the restaurant of this park; Please note that all staff (staff and management) spends there evenings drinking beer and shorts at the bar and restaurant from 17.00-onwards; beautiful publicity for "holiday park"; By the way, if you have a pet and want lunch or dinner, you will eat your meals on the terrace, sharing the cigarette smoke of smokers who ignore the fact that you are having a meal (nice of the staff). Note: You can fill out a "feedback" online !! but the page does not exist (practical to get no complaints) So AVOID this site particularly unwelcoming; the number of my mobihome G15 in the garden, (photos to prove the above on request if wanted)

“very disappointing caravan park”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 31/10/2012

Just having come back from a short weekend break with my husband and daughter, I felt compelled to wright a review about this place which I have never done before. We arrived okay, not very well sign posted down a dark lane. The receptionist was pleasant enough and directed us to our caravan by map. The caravan was very disappointing, dated, dirty considering we upgraded to a gold, I think it was at least 10 years old ' an old gold' and very damp, plus the shower cubicle covered in mold around the bottom area. It was situated up on a bank/hill with no path just a grassy/muddy route. There are no caravans you can park outside, you have to leave you car in the carpark at the bottom/nearby. The only good thing I can say that it was quiet up there! Having looked around, I noticed all the nice caravans are privately owned and situated by the lake. Most of the other caravans looked like they all needed updating and the whole park just looked so tired and needed some tlc. We did not try the swimming pool so we can't comment on that as we were put off by the cleanliness of everything else. Having just used the caravan as a base which was fine, we enjoyed our days out. I do appreciate that it is a good price for a small break but it just needs to habitable/clean/warm.

“Lovely break at good price.”

★★★★☆

written by on 20/10/2012

We have just returned from a mid week break at Coghurst Hall. We stayed in a gold plus 2 caravan at the top of the pleasant gardens area. There was a steep climb so not suitable for elderly or disabled, also slippery when wet on grass as no concrete paths. The caravan was a bit worn in places but clean and comfortable and excellent value for the price. The heating was good. We didn't use the clubhouse or swimming pool, didn't really want them but spent a lovely day on the grass area by the lake with friendly ducks. There was not enough parking in the gardens area so had to drive around park to find somewhere else after we had been out. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We definitely hope to go again.

I booked in on the 20.8.2012 through the website, when we finally got there not very well sign posted and numbered, most of the site lighting was of so luckly took a torch, the caravan 189,that was a laugh been stuck in a corner by bushes, stunk of dogs dirty, hairs everywere, best thing of all was the spare sheet I had to use for a curtain up at the kitchen window for a week, this was reported but nothing was done about it ,the television was rubbish kept going of,dust and dirt everywere. The sitewell what can one say the whole place looked like a rubbish tip,one dog bin was all I could find ,the play area one slide climbing frame next to the clubhouse, once filled up you couldn't get a seat, toilets broke, the shop a cubby hole and staff, don't even go there,Pat behind the bar was a nice and helpful bloke that was about it,the food was a disgrace cold one served, took over an hour one night for food that was ordered to be served, went to sainsbury in the end.Plates and cups etc left outside all afternoon and night, the entertainment what entertainment, nothing for the under 5's,no bins apart from 3 outside, and worst of all was reception last day checked out I made a complaint the receptionist couldn't even be bothered to look me in the face.I did get an apology of one of the maintance men but that was it ,the worst holiday park I've ever been to .Never againn would I book HOseasons or park resorts,so be warned,oh I forgot to say ONE OF THE CARAVANS WAS ACTUALLY BEING USED AS A MASSAGE PARLOUR NEED WE SAY ANY MORE.If I COULD GIVE IT LESS THEN 1 I WOULD.

“Worst place on earth”

★☆☆☆☆

written by leeroberts1 on 06/03/2012

booked a 3 night break with hoseasons for 2 adults, 2 children.park was not far and looked good on website.once arrived i waited ten minutes in reception for the male receptionist to even acknowledge i was there, gave us a ripped map for directions. once arrived at caravan which was nice inside, however had no path to steps so had to slosh in the mud to get to the door making a right mess of shoes.clubhouse was a joke, waited 20 minutes to order food and when i asked for some service was told well we are busy you know!!what an attitude, waited 30 minutes more for food which was terrible, deep fried burgers, mega burger same size as childrens burger tiny pot of coleslaw and chips thrown on plate. bar service was dreadful, 20 minutes queuing for a drink. we were not informed that there was an owners party on the Friday night and they were clearly given priority on everything. no seats for the kids and back door left open by smokers making it freezing. not as freezing as the indoor heated pool though. my god the water was not even 1 degree impossible to enter let alone swim in.no linen supplied until Saturday night after constant asking it was delivered in a black bin bag that stank of cigarette smoke,no lighting on the roads so you cant see your way at night and if its raining you end up in puddles!!! we left a day early as it was so awful never return to this place again terrible park. staff need training in customer care and no management to deal with anything.
