“Dirty accommodation, ”

★★☆☆☆

written by Caroline304 on 18/02/2024

Dirty room carpet stains and not hovered. Quilt badly staind and covers don't fit, hair in the beds. Dusty biscuits under sofa sofa stained. No bowls to use microwave or measuring jug. Limited cooking utencles. Most shows and activities already booked unless you pay. Some Rides closed like chairs and helter-skelter throughout our stay. Staff good. Shows in reds ok. Asked to get room cleaned they did and carpets bed remained same and had 1 towel. This was a comfort plus accommodation! Really. Works unplaced which ok but not ideal.

“Poor room standards ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Amanda.82 on 23/09/2023

Room we booked was in poor state, wooden window frames, no heating working, bathroom fan not working, our pillows we slept with were disgusting, the room was fousty. The larger in REDS was gone off when approached staff they said it was fine but clearly not as few people said same it was off. Apart from the room the staff was lovely, the restaurants were fab food was stunning. Plenty things to do with activities for adults and kids to do.

great entertainment. went to butlins minehead the chalet was disgusting bathroom was filthy, stains on carpet, curtains and pillows, dust everywhere a monkey could of done a better job cleaning it.All that money people pay and you cant even update the chalets, there was paint coming off walls the windows wouldn't open properly it felt like we was staying in a abandoned place. my car was damaged in the car park and no one left a note so me and my daughter had to pull over on the hard shoulder on the motorway because they had hit it that hard they made a big bulge in my tire so it took us 7 hours to get home where it only takes 2 and a half hours all you think about is MONEY and fit as many people as possible in the place DISGUSTING i won't be going again

“Poor accommodation and noisy neighbours ”

written by Cunningham371 on 24/03/2022

Great staff but that where it ends. We booked a We Love the 70s Weekend for the 2nd time at Butlins Minehead Our booking indicated Silver Accommodation so we were looking forward to slightly upgraded accommodation. On the day this was changed to Comfort which apparently included refurbished Standard 3 bed apartments. Well that seems to consist of a lick of paint and removal of anything on the walls. This feels like a misrepresentation. On the subject of accommodation itself it was clearly not properly cleaned. Found a baby's bottle and biro in the bunk room and a tag from clothing in the twin. There was a blown bulb and a seriously damaged coffee table. Very unsafe for families with children. Even I snagged my clothes on it. Butlins also need to work on property allocation. We were in the apartment when we heard a large group arrive shouting we have A C and D when we had B (example) Our worst fears were realised. We had banging on our windows at all hours and the paper thin walls between 2 of our bedrooms and presumably their lounge was unable to tone down their shouting and radio blaring. This continued until 3AM is and restarted at 7AM. Virtually No sleep was had by most of our party .2 returned home on the Saturday morning. The rest were thankfully moved later but it ruined our holiday. Other major changes since our previous visit was the priority extra. Previously you were able to pay to queue jump but now it is separate VIP areas with a separate bar. This has resulted in huge queues in the regular bar and an inability to even get a seat let alone a table in the general area unless you arrive early and stay put whilst tables lie empty in the VIP area. We couldn't even get a seat on the Sunday afternoon. We submitted a complaint and Butlibs response was to offera good price on a future break. Nit even a refund on the dining package for those who left. It was their choice to Hugo home so tough pretty much sums it up

“bad experience & rude staff.”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AudreyMorse26 on 28/09/2018

We arrived at our accommodation, the toilet was blocked and the bathroom flooded. The entertainment is the same every year, same old bands After the night of the lousy entertainment, we purchased supper and we were charged £15 for fish & chip, burger king charged my friend £14. Prices for drinks vary between £6 & £7 each. I would definitely not recommend booking a holiday here.

“Shocked”

We stayed here for a U7s rugby tournament and while it was really well organised and the children had a wonderful time our accommodation was average (despite paying for a 'gold' apartment). Added to this the mini rugby pitches were situated right next to some very dilapidated accommodation (that actually looked derelict) but it transpired people (Butlin's staff?) were living there. There were old mattresses, abandoned mobile homes, rubbish etc all over the place and I felt embarrassed to be staying somewhere where there were obviously double standards. While advertising what a fantastic place and then to see how the staff are treated. I really hope I'm wrong but feel awful that we gave money to a company that appear to be not care about the people who work for them.

“very disappointed ”

written by JoyceMoore374 on 18/10/2014

We stayed for a 4 nights originally and we were very pleased, we had a silver bungalow. We then stayed on for a few more nights and we're moved to a silver twin room. As soon as you walked in there was a ridiculous smell of bleach, the room was freezing to. After the smell had gone then came the damp smell that they attempted to cover up, everything is covered in dust and as an asthmatic I was not pleased. Very disappointed and I will 100% not be returning!!!!

Stayed at minehead from mon to fri last week very disappointed the silver bungalow that we stayed in was in very poor condition missing items included cutlery glasses ironing board just to name afew but so called cleaning disgusting .as we arrived there was aerson checking it that it was passed for us to move in so we know that it had been checked . Dust everywhere but what the worst thing found were empty bottles and cans under sofas and dirt down sides of sofas needless to say after being customers for years we will not return again mostly for cleanliness and seagulls nesting on roofs that screech day and night and red coats that are so po faced and miserable that during our stay only two e en bothered to answer good morning billy butlin would turn in his grave at their demeanour.

Went to minehead butlins last year to watch wwe after friends kept saying how great it was and raving about the premium dining which was really good. After last year we were really disappointed this time with the new dining The deck the food was terrible the standard of the food has dropped we did not have one hot meal it was constantly running out.frozen bread rolls were on offer at one sitting. The only reason we would go to butlins is to watch wwe for the children.

“Great for kids,as long as adults can ignore the poor...”

★★★★☆

written by barrydavids1 on 27/10/2013

I recently went to Butlins in Minehead with my wife and 6 year old daughter for 4 nights. I have fond memories of Butlins as a child and so was looking forward to revisiting the complex. In terms of activities and inclusive facilities it did not disappoint. Most of the entertainment and activities are included in the price which is a real bonus. Whether it be the fairground, the swimming baths or children's shows, there are plenty of things to keep the kids entertained. That being said, there are also many things that do cost and over the course of 5 days if you are not careful it is easy to spend a small fortune. For me though the biggest disappointment with this venue is the poorly maintained accommodation, the chalet was damp, felt dirty and probably hadn't received a lick of paint for 30 years. In Summary, im sure your child will love this place and have a really enjoyable time. Well worth going although you will feel in need of a good bath after a few days in the dirty chalets.

“Not as good as skegness”

written by widowmaker189 on 20/07/2013

Just returned from a short 4 night stay and have to say was not impressed. Firstly i paid extra for housekeeping mainly to get towels included but when i arrived there was no towels in chalet, i went to accommodation facilities and was told the towels would be there in ten mins waited half an hour still no towels so went back and was told oh OK have these towels then. secondly the chalet it self was in need of some TLC from very dirty windows to marks (no idea what of) on the walls. the shops are very expensive (but this is to be expected) There is not much for adults to do during the day but the night entertainment is good. Nice beach just across the road and only a short walk into minehead town center. Food was very nice a varied and drinks not too expensive(£3.50 a pint)

Myself and wife got married in July 2012 and have two young children aged 1 and 3 we decided to go Butlins for our honeymoon cause we would not want to leave our kids and going abroad to an exotic location is not fun for young kiddies! Upon arrival we couldn't check in to our room for another hour but we knew this so we wandered on site to waste time, the entertainment is excellent for children how ever my daughter didn't have much to do as she's only one oldest daughter loved bob the builder world and the shoes for children the food on resort is pricy so if you go minehead then go to morrossons or tescos just down the road or macdonalds outside of resort i have to say finguins was excellent food at good value yummy chips we went in the sun and moon pub which was good for breakfast but came to £18 for 2 breakies we could have bought eggs bacon and sausages and mushrooms cooked our selves for £5 but we where happy to pay that as it was our last day treat :D as our children are young we only stayed in the evening shows for an hour before kids where ready for bed that was fine though cause me and the wife watched a film with a takeout butlins is a great family fun place beats going abroad this is def good family fun my holiday tips to fellow first time butlins familys are *dont shop in spa on resort over priced *dont buy the grocery pack offered on butlins website its £23 and worth only £15 and can be bought in tesco cheaper *childrens packs for arivel billy packs very expensive at £20 each not worth it stay away from pizza hut on resort £18 for one pizza yikes charactor lunches are £20 a adult very expensive eat at finguins excellent food so over all expensive but worth every penny for squeal delight of little ones not really good for young babys

“nothing for under 2 year old's”

★★★☆☆

written by on 02/11/2012

We just booked a fmaily holiday for 5 with my daughter and her 4 year old son. Also took my 15 month old grandson Very disappointed in entertain, ent for young children. Nothing catered for under 2's. There was Bob the Builder fun fair but he could only go on 3 things and they wouldn't let his 13 year old uncle to take him on so missed out on some rides The skyline stage shows were great for 5 - 9 years old's but under 2 'sget bored and could wander off. Nursery was £6 for 2 hour session so never bothered. We had to end up paying £1 per ride inthe arcade to entertain him My 13 year old son came down with sickness and diarhoea day before we were due to leave - many people had it but no compensation. My daughter left a day early as her bedroom had a flood from another chalet behind us who had left their taps running, so she and her 4 year old came down with a bad cold and cough so went home. Butlins suctioned and put dehumudifier in as no other chalets available but she left before then Most staff were foreign. Ocean Drive restaurant was oka but a bit of a free for all - food fine most days but same food daily mostly though a choice of about 6-7 dishes my opinion, entertainment good for adults and older children though lot of singing - a few good acts, comedy, derren brown type and mainly tribute acts quite expensive given basic chalets - we paid over £900 for silver rooms half board too many people and no chance of getting a venue seat unless you queue up an hour before doors open in the rain lots of money spent on top - may go back to hoburne in paignton next year - sorry butlins minhead was a disappointment

“What a Fantastic Break!”

★★★★★

written by on 22/10/2012

Having read some less than enthusiastic reviews (after having booked!) my husband and I, both in our late 70's, travelled in fear and apprehension. From the time we arrived, all staff were friendly and helpful. Our rooms and bed were spotlessly clean and comfortable, the food was very well prepared, plentiful and with loads of choice. The site itself was well maintained and clean - not once did we see any rubbish lying around. The entertainment looked inviting but we chose to take a walk after our evening meal then spend the rest of the evening quietly in our room. Unfortunately there was only one comfortable chair and a stool. We would have appreciated a second bucket chair. On arrival, one of the heaters was not working. However, this was attended to within half an hour of reporting it. A few more signposts would have been helpful as the plan, though clear, was not easy to see in the dark evenings and without reading glasses (for those of us who need them). The thing that disturbed us most was the greed of some of the guests who piled their plates with food then left much of it on their plates. There was absolutely no need of this as everyone was free to return to the food stations in the food court as many times as they wished. Having never been keen on the idea of a holiday at Butlins, we are now smitten and have already booked for next year! THANK YOU BUTLINS!

“Butlins Minehead ”

★★★★★

written by on 30/05/2012

I absolutely love Butlins Minehead. Its got stuff for all ages like rides entertainment and food ect. I would suggest silver accomidation with half board . No cooking or cleaning just having fun on your holiday . For children there are lots of characters , shows and even Bob the Builders yard which is a sheltered place full of rides for children under 6 years old. Also the tent with most activities are in the skyline pavillion .

“very poor ”

written by on 20/05/2012

just spent 5 days at butlins minehead and was very disappointed. My daughters aged 4 and 2 loved it. the entertainment was great for them. The silver accomadation however was very bad. we had stains on all of the bedding but i took are own which was lucky. The shower leaked and left the bathroom flooded, the curtains were dirty, the tv would work and we had ANTS. When i complained the staff were very relaxed about it and just sent someone round to spray the room. When i questioned their relaxed attitude they said the Ants are very common and it happens alot. while there we met another family who had ants also. I am a smoker but i would have expected smoking areas around the park but there was not, resulting in cig buds everywhere. Overall the kids loved it and had a fantastic time but we won't be rushing back anytime soon. Butlins needs a complete refub and clean up.

“Poor ”

written by SianGoss on 18/05/2012

Myself partner and two children have just had a 5 day break in minehead butlins due to a technical problem after a massive power cut throughout minehead on the last evening the last nights entertainment could not carry on due to the fault my younge nephew had waited all day to watch the lazy town show and when they announced that the show would not be continuing they asked parents if they had a camera they would be able to take pictures so off I went down to the front of the stage to have pictures with the characters only three of the masked characters returned to the stage and we were unable to have any pictures with them again my nephew was very upset as the red coats implied that we were able to get up close and personal with all of them !! A bit shocked that the main characters did not return and it seemed as if they couldn't wait to get out of there NOT GOOD !! After leaving centre stage we proceeded to go to bar Roso where I ordered two drinks and when I went to pay by card I was then informed that the machines had gone down I went to my purse and was 35p short for the drinks there was no offer of having the drinks anyway terrible communication with staff In not informing us befor purchasing the drinks that the machine was not working !!! However we had a cracking deal almost 400 cheaper than the original price and opted to have the bed and meal deal which included breakfast and dinner I have been seriously unimpressed with the food as it was blaned also it was clear that whatever they didn't finish that day was badly transformed into another random meal the next day I would have been fuming if I had paid the full price disgusting does not even come close Really really unimpressed with the visit due to poor efforts with team member to make a bad situation good again and as for food well Jamie Oliver and Gordon Ramsey would be disgusted with the meals chances are you would not be able to pay me to experience that again kids enjoyed though

“apartments not that great!!!”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 22/04/2012

Me and my family have gone to butlins 3 years in a row and twice we have been we have had no problems but the very last time we ending up leaving a day early. We had a silver apartment and realised that we had a old stroller pram under our bed (main bedroom) with a empty box for a new one, in the living room was smashed glass under the sofa, and in the kitchen cupboard was a glass half full of cigarette butts, so the cleaning side of things is definatly not great. the kids on day 4 (there for 7 nights) the children both got ill with a bug. so pretty much not the holiday we expected
