Upon arrival at 5.15pm reception closed, didnt know where to pitch up after 5 hours in car with 2 children. Bad language over heard from staff. People on site drunk, loud and bad language, not suitable if you have children! The whole camp site rather shabby and need updating or at least kept clean!!!!!!

“Would Not Recommend! ”

written by on 08/07/2011

We are here now. We have two babies and have been place in a caravan right next to the entertainment - it is so loud and vibrates through the beds, you can hear every word. If you have children under 5 don't waste your money staying here! I guess camping is different but I wouldn't recommend a stay in their caravans - Why? Well mainly the noise, our two wouldn't settle at night. The bed sheets don't fit the double bed and ours have holes in. There is nothing for little ones to do, there is a under 5's club in the morning for half an hour and it was terrible, the staff just sat there and did not interact with the children and the rabbit Sparky didn't make an appearance. The pool isn't open until 10am as morning is for owners only. The pool is only small and was very over crowded with little changing facilities. The place is flat there is no atmosphere. The chippy closes early if there is a staff problem and the pub Farmhouse for food is so expensive. It cost us £8 for two drinks in the bar at night!! This place would be OK for older families or Couples. I wouldn't stay here again.

We have now stayed at quite a few parks but this one has to be the most NOISIEST of all. If you ever go there NEVER accept a van near the entertaining / (fun-slash)swimming pool, Why they ever bother putting anyone in these caravans right next to the entertainment block I will never know, the staff are clearly aware of the noise problem but do nothing, In fact these vans should be moved and the land turned into a picnic site.
The building is not sound proofed and the swimming pool as two air vents making a noise enough to keep you awake all night, For us the vents were the problem, the entertainment noise stopped at 11pm a constant humming all night with the flaps on the vents rattling keeping us awake, alter complaining I was told at first they cannot be turned off at night, but alter repeatedly complaining they decided to turn them off at night but this happened on our last day there. To add to this you have security vans going by the vans in the middle of the night just to make sure your still awake. If you have young children this is not the place for you. We were in H-3 caravan with two vans even closer than us to the noise, God knows how they managed to sleep. No matter how much you pay weather it be £100 or £500 we should be all treated to same degree of respect and consideration.
WE WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS ONE. A shame as it was a good base to explore north Wales.
LACK OF SLEEP SPOILT OUR STAY.

“Park Resorts - Ty Mawr - Rhyl - On arrival our initial...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 29/10/2010

Park Resorts - Ty Mawr - Rhyl - On arrival our initial thoughts were it seemed a nice caravan sight...How wrong we were! Check-in was quick and easy and initially the caravan seemed clean. When we were un-packing I found a reciept from August (we were there the end of October!) a sweet of somesort and dirty tissues under the bed in the main bedroom, there was a hair in the bottom of the shower and the toilet hadnt been well cleaned either. There were duvets and pillows although no bedding for the second set (good job we took our own is all I can say!)It was stated somewhere in the handbook which was in the caravan, the shower may be hot which was un-avoidable so never leave children un-attended when in the shower, Well I struggled to have a shower in the burning heat so my child had a wash down from the sink everyday (not an appropriate form of washing when you have been on the wet beach all day!) We decided to go swimming to the pool on the complex. It was that cold we were shivering and beginning to literally turn blue wothin minutes, the water was murky with dirt floating about! The changing rooms were not clean either and the toilets in the swimming complex wernt even hygenic if you wanted to squat over the toilet! They dont provide mirrors in the swimming complx either and BE AWARE the lockers charge you a NON-REFUNDABLE £1 so if you forget to put something in your locker be prepared to pay another £1. The farm house was cheap enough for food but quite expensive for drinks, although the food was nice, we didnt enjoy the atmosphere and we found it quite cold. I cant really comment on the entertainment as we only ventured there one night and stayed for half an hour. The adventure playground was a boggy mess and the prize ride wasnt available to play on having been padlocked, much to the upset of my child. We seemed to have extremely noisy neighbours, with a fight seeming to break out at around 1am near our caravan with plenty of swearing and shouting, needless to stay that morning we packed up and left... a day ahead of schedule! The only reason we enjoyed our time in Wales was due to the days out we had off the park. We will not be visiting park resorts again. We paid £375, although this seemed cheap and cheerful at the time of booking, it definately was not. Sometimes you really only get what you pay for. It seems we didnt even get that. I am writing this fresh from memory as we returned home today.

We sayed here this year 2011. And not a problem at all creating amazing memories it did for us. So let me just add That the staff on the camp cant keep rain off the park so that what you sed about a boggy mess is stupid. As well as the zip wire being locked up if you would of asked a member of staff about it they would tell you that it is out of order due to it hanging low, So really there doing you a favour by not letting your kids ass drag along the floor. Thanks

“Would not recommend this site to anyone. My family...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/09/2010

Would not recommend this site to anyone. My family went to Ty Mawr in August we booked a silver plus caravan which is supposed to sleep eight but there was only six of us four adults two children and there was not enough space to move let alone hang clothes. Your legs bang off the radiator in toilet etc etc.
The site was ok but needs good clean,Play park not appropriate for very young children as over run with older children.

Caravans to close together we were placed next to site entertainers who came in drunk every night arguing and being very loud and leaving rubbish outside caravan attracting animals.

Night time entertainment was shocking the staff were bullying each other no good for young children, room smelly queue for bar terrible and drinks very expensive, bingo drags on and on.

Chip shop was ok though.

We went out every day and loved wales we visited many nice places like chester zoo, farm & chocolate factory and lovely cafe called Rita's in Rhyl well worth a visit.
Would def go back to wales but NOT Ty mawr holiday park.

“We have recently returned from a holiday at Ty Mawr,...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ren1973 on 08/09/2010

We have recently returned from a holiday at Ty Mawr, where we stopped in a gold rated caravan. The caravan itself was fine, however the sheets didn't fit the double bed and the single duvet was holed. The general cleanliness was OK, however we did find a sock, used hanky & pen down the side of the seats.
The pool was fine and the play areas great for the kids. Sadly I can not say the same for the entertainment. The first few rows of the clubhouse stank of vomit & I waited over 20 mins to get served at the bar.
On our last night we were awoken by fighting outside our front window which lasted for about 30 mins with no sign of sight security.
This was our first experience as a family staying on a caravan park and it will most certainly be the last.
One good thing about Ty Mawr is its proximity to Rhyl, Conway & Snowdonia all of which are worth a visit.

“We have just returned from our 5 day stay at Ty Mawr....”

written by on 27/08/2010

We have just returned from our 5 day stay at Ty Mawr. On arrival we were told we had 2 areas to choose from to pitch our tent. The campsite was extremely full however we did find a really nice spot. Unfortunately it went downhill from there on in.
The shower blocks are very substandard dirty and smelt of urine. The showers are freezing on complaining to the receptionist I was told there was nothing they could do. Basically I had to shower in freezing water.
The ladies toilets were much the same no toliet roll available, they smelt of urine excrement was smeared over one toilet and left like that for 2 days.
The entertainment was rubbish the park resorts team were very unprofessinal making remarks over the mic about other people which I found very offensive.
The chippy on site was very good.
The swimming pool had green mildew growing around the side of the pool we soon got in and got out again. The complaints are endless to many to mention.
This is a budget holiday and you get what you pay for.
I will never return back here again. Haven is so much better and more professional

written by meccabolix on 22/08/2010

NEVER go to this place, its like hell, the toilets had faeces smeared all over the walls, the showers stank of pee, and the pool had green stuff growing on the surrounding walls.

here's my story, prepare yourself for the worst review ever.

my fianc e suffers from an illness called ceoliacs disease, which means she cannot eat foods with gluten in, all of the food served on the site (and the whole town in fact) was not gluten-free, so we had no choice but to eat the food, which was vile, but the more she ate the more she deteriorated, on the Wednesday she entered the 18+ talent competition, straight after her show she fainted, i was trying to look after her and wake her up when one of the women who do the entertainment came over (kelly) and made the comment "if this was a drama competition, she would have won" and then walked away, i was furious with this comment, so after we came back from the hospital we filed an official complaint, and heard nothing more of it, obviously my fiance was embarassed to go out for a few days, but by the saturday she built up the courage to go out, she also has probles with her ankles, so she put her feet up on a table and a security guard came up and said "your not unconsious now, get your feet off the f*****g table" i felt this was way out of order and told him i would make sure that he loses his job. she was very upset so we just went back to our tent. in the morning we were awaken by people shouting outside our tent, so we got up to see what all the fuss was about, our neighbours and ourselves had had our tent lines cut, but our neighbours were blaming us for it, and threatened to "smash my head in" so i just ignored them and went to the toilets (which were disgusting) and when i came back he was threatening to stab my fianc e, so i called the police, when the police arrived they went over to the neighbours who threatened us first, and came over a few minutes later, and shouted in my fianc es face, the people must have been lying to get her in trouble, i know the law, and i know the police arent allowed to scream in peoples faces, especially in the face of a victim, and especially only after hearing one side of the story, immediatly after we packed everything up and went over to the reception to complain, i asked for the manager and went straight into his office, he heard me out but said he couldnt do anything about what had happend, i realise our neighbours are nothing to do with him, but his staff are, and he said theyv done nothing wrong, but they really upst me and my fience, wed been victimised all holiday for no reason, especially by the staff! when we left the office we said were going to get our solicitors onto them and the manager said "good" this is extremely childish behaviour from "professionals" and i will NEVER be going back again, i hope if your on this website to see if ty mawr or park resorts are any good that youv read my account and i hope you think twice, its horrible and were utterly drained after this "holiday" i implore you do NOT go to ty mawr, if i get my own way, it wont be round much longer anyway. thankyou for reading.

“Just returned from a 7 night touring stay at Ty Mawr...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 22/08/2010

Just returned from a 7 night touring stay at Ty Mawr campsite, On arrival we had the choice of our own pitch, however this choice was very limited due to the amount of people already pitched. When we eventually found a suitable pitch we had to clear it of litter. The Shower block was substandard and dated with all showers having no water pressure what so ever, the smell on entering was off putting and they rarely seemed to be cleaned at all. We visited the club house on our second night and refused to use this facility again, the smell on entering was awful and we had step over disgarded take away containers just left on the floor. We found the experience so bad we walked out and used the cabaret bar situated across the road.

Children within the group went off to use the swimming pool, which they promptly returned from saying the water was dirty and the pool walls were covered in a green residue.

Overall we found North Wales a lovely picturess area with some really great attractions, however we found Ty Mawr campsite a great dissapointment, we will not be returning again.

“Just arrived back from Ty Mawr. ”

★★★★★

written by on 08/08/2010

Just arrived back from Ty Mawr.
Must say we enjoyed every minute of it. Staff were all very friends.
Kids loved the entertainment activities. The teamstars were all friendly and great with the kids. Kids are still going on about Trinny and Scott with their Juicey Juicey...Bye Bye my 5 year old wont stop saying it.
Food was good, Park was clean, entertainment was fantastic.Only negative would be the bingo and how the kids need to sit quitely. Having a 5 year old 4 year old and 6 year old this is difficult. Also the heat in the sands showbar at night I would advise people to take handheld fans.

written by on 02/08/2010

We have just returned a day early from Ty Mawr. Park Resorts. We chose an electric hook up pitch for our 3 day break. The ladies toilets were disgusting and the showers were no better, I wouldn't let my daughter use the showers. We had to queue to get in the pool then it was too packed to enjoy. The evening entertainment at Sands bar was so packed lots of families were left standing, the sports facilities shown on the web were useless to families as it was unsupervised and you could never get on it, too full. When we tried to book an organised game of football as advertised we were told it was his day off! so more disapointment for the kids. The doggy walk area was a joke, just a small dirt track through some stingers going nowhere or maybe A & E because its strewn with rocks. Overall very disapointing and we will never return.

We stayed in a silver caravan it was really nice, well equiped. But thats as good as it gets. The Entretainment was terrible. Swimming pool too small and is only open for 2 hour at a time so there is a lot of rushing. We stayed near big bins and they never got emptied. There was about 6 people playing bingo. Overall really bad and I wouldn't recommend anybody to go to ty mawr.

★★★★☆

written by on 11/06/2010

Just returned from a 4 night (mon-Fri) break at ty mawr. We have really enjoyed the week.

I was dreading it after reading the reviews but surprisingly it wasnt so bad!

We paid for a silver caravan - I cannot comment on the bronze standards, we only chose silver for the earlier check in time of 2.30 rather than 4.40.
Cheack in was quick and painless! Caravan was great, very clean, with disabled access (which was great for our pushchair!)Linen was provided which was also clean and beds were made up.
Location was great with lovely scenery, we had a day trip t anglesy, another to snowdonia and another to caenarfon - all beautiful places. Ryhl and prestatyn however which I know from past experience are very close by with nothing much there and not worth a visit unless you are going to the sun centre(swimming).
The pub on site was average, good service, food okay nothing spectacular but no complaints. Only that there werent many healthy choices on the menu.
The showbar opened at 6 every night. Music played for an hour before the bingo started, you had to be 18 to play and children were expected to be reasonably quite, then kids entertainment started at 7.45 for about 45 mins (THIS IS THE ONLY MOAN I HAVE!) I thought they could of catered for the children better, and having a baby and 4yr old personally I thought it was a bit late to be starting kids stuff.

We went swimming once, it was ok. The building is dated but it seemed clean. It was warm enough to stay in the pool for as long as we liked with our 9month old baby. There is a flume for the older kids.

There is a nice playground which my 4 yr old loved, also a few football pitches.

Some people are never happy - if you have booked to go here, make the best of it - we did and had a great time. Staff were helpful, it was clean with a great backdrop and the entertainment was ok.
Hope this helps!

I WILL ALSO SAY I ONLY PAID ABOUT £150 EVEN WITH AN UPGRADE, WE COLLECTED TOKENS FROM THE SUN NEWSPAPER SO VALUE FOR MONEY WAS GREATT!

Just back from a one week holiday at Ty Mawr in a static caravan.

The caravan was nice and well-equipped and quite clean except that no dusting had been done recently! The site is tidy and the grounds kept well. No litter lying around. I couldn't light the grill in our caravan (I'm not used to gas, we're electric at home) and when I went to reception for help they very quickly sent somebody to help who was very good humoured.

Kids play area and all weather sports courts very good - I was happy to leave my 11 year old son there playing with the friends he'd made.

HOWEVER!!!!!!!! The place is VERY loud - the noise from the club went on until 12.30 am and drowned out the tv in the caravan. No use trying to sleep, even with earplugs and a pillow on my head! Once the club closed then there were drunken people yelling all over the place.

Also, the swimming pool was filthy. My kids used it once and then refused to go near it - a big disappointment as the pool was the main attraction for them.

I will never go there again. We came home a day early as we were all exhausted with sleep deprivation.

Not happy at our stay this time...no soap in the toilet blocks...soaking wet showers...one hook to put your clothes on...impossible to do because you cant put anything on the floor because the shower floors get soaked...
The law about caravans being to close together was not seen to be done..
we were like sardines....
We were that close I could hear people having a wee....get more hooks please..soap dispenders replaced...not a lot to ask...
And keep to the law....its a fire hazzard to have us campers so so close to each other...

i have just stayed at ty mawr holiday park with my 2 children and my mom and dad, on arrival we were told to collect our keys at 4.00 from the sands club, we waited till 4.00 to find out that there was noone in the sands club to get our keys from, we went back to reception where they said that they had changed their mind nd was giving them out at reception -(lack of communication). The swimming pool was really disgusting could do with pulling down and rebuiding - the entertainment in the club was awful apart from weds night when ther was a comedian on called derek( worth seeing) - the staff at this site are very unhelpful and bad mannered - the only one who ever helped us out was a man who worked in the amusements (great chap thanks) you shouldnt be working there (get out while you can) our caravan was very nice (well could have been if the cleaners had bothered to clean it) i had to clean it first but it was very up to date no I109 if anyones interested - went for a meal in the on site pub staff in there were appauling very rude - all in all the site was clean = caravan was nice but could have been cleaned better, swimming pool disgusting dirty pants and mildew everywhere black bits in the water - would go back if they changed the staff had a new swimmimg pool and just got the grabbers to work

Absolutely worst campsite we have had the misfortune to visit. Rude and ignorant staff, stank of sewage, had security guards move a tent 3ft from the side of our tent when we had gone out - breaking not just law requirements of how far tents should be apart but also what they themselves stated!
Dirty, smelly disgusting toilet and showers even immediately after cleaner had finished.
Really cannot find the right words to describe how utterly appalling Ty Mawr is.
Do not waste your money!!
