“All A Bit Rubbishy Really...”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 17/07/2013

y wife persuaded my son to buy me a fairly full set of Eckman small garden tools (18v Li-Ion lopper/chainsaw, strimmer, hedge trimmer kit, with an extension pole)as a birthday present two years ago. I did not ask for it, and when I saw it I thought it all looked rather cheap and nasty (except it wasn't all that cheap...). I was right. None of it has been used much, but both batteries have now died and the extension pole has gone open-circuit and is therefore also useless. Even when it worked, the performance of the strimmer and the hedge trimmer was fairly feeble, and the chainsaw attachment even more so. It's all a bit rubbishy and flimsy, and none of it up to the job, though it might be OK for a large window box...

Apart from my Bosch hedge trimmer (Alkaline battery, still hanging in there after three years, and much more capable than the Eckman junk), it's back to mains-powered tools for me; they work, and keep on working.
