Sophie Ellis Bextor, Tripping The Light Fantastic is full of funky, uptempo numbers which shows of Sophie's voice to her benefit. The album's first single "Catch You" is quite deceptive of what the overall sound of the album is like. It's definitely a gravier sounding Sophie but not as 'pop' compared to some of the other tracks such as Supersonic & If I Can't Dance.
There are some gorgeous songs 'Today The Sun's On Us'. Although the single got some bad reviews, personally I think this mid-tempo ballad is a beautiful song and is one of the best on the album.
The best we have seen of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and after the previous two albums were so successful, this is an achievement.
