“fine hair beware”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 17/10/2012

My hairdresser switched to Koleston Color several years ago. I had been coloring my hair with little or no incident for several years. I noticed a huge difference in my hair condition after using Koleston. The breakage was noticeable, particularly along the hairline, but it is diffuse throughout. I have sprouts! My hair was much drier and very fly away. I don't think it covers gray that well. I am a brunette. The color is beautiful in that it doesn't turn brassy. But as a lady with short, fine and thin hair I need to keep as much on my head as possible. I made her switch to another brand just for me and it took me a full year to get my hair back in shape. Only to have her use Koleston again on me last appointment (unbeknownst to me). Same breakage as before. If you have fine, thin hair beware. Don't use this color. Something in it eats your hair!

I have been using Koleston color on my fine hair clients for years without breakage, I believe this is your stylist mistake. Perhaps he is using too high of a volume of peroxide. There are many factors at play I would not blame the product

I think that your stylist is using to strong a peroxide strength and as for the grey coverage, your hair maybe resistant so id recommend your stylist use a double base shade to get complete grey coverage. Also id say the stylist should just be applying koleston to the root area and colour touch through midlengths and ends to freshen the ends as this would prevent damage to your hair.
