““STAY CLEAR - AVOID AT ALL COSTS - HIDDEN CHARGES””

I took 2 membership from Xercise 4 Less Milton Keynes branch for myself and my wife, my wife’s membership was a gift for her birthday. The membership was sign in the gym with one of the representative while we were both present with the then current offer “1 month free with 11month payment by direct debit with £20 registration fee per person payable immediately.

Last payment for our contractual obligation was up in March 2017, I still paid for April after which I stopped the direct debit payment. During the course of the membership, the payment has always being prompt despite the fact that we have only used the gym for an average of 5months with 7 months of non-usage. I received a letter from a company called Harland in regards to the cancellation of our gym membership with Xercise4less, this I immediately responded with a phone call to one of their customer service representative stating that the direct debit was cancelled as we have fulfilled our contractual obligation with Xercise 4 Less.

I was advised that their record states that I signed up online which I said that I did not, it was a face to face sign on at the gym and that there was no mention of cancellation notification. I was advised to go and sort it out with the gym, this I did on the same day; on getting there I found out that lots of customers have also complained about not being told on signing up of the same issue “1 month cancellation notice”.

I’m now getting threatening letters and txt message from HARLANDS who manage the finances for Xercise4Less and their cohorts; Credit Resolution Services (in house Rip Off agents).

I had a very similar issue. I started a year long membership back in April 2018 which finished in May. So I cancelled my direct debit and sent off the cancellation form that the website said I should send off. I will admit I cancelled (or tried to) my contract early which meant that I got multiple emails from Harlands saying I owed money. I contacted the gym and paid that off before waiting until the end of my contract. Once my contract was up, I called the gym and again was advised that I would have to fill out the cancellation form. So I went online and filled it out. I then received a confirmation email saying that my final payment would be in 30 days and that would be it. But no, i then was continuously charged for monthly payments. It is now November and still, nothing has been resolved.
