I have heard on several occasions staff discussing the private lives of clients with other customers. Really not good at all.

Organised and run by incompetent egocentrics. This company is in dire need of a complete health check. when the life guards are treated and regarded as toilet cleaners, only paid less; and the management leave to pursue careers in the scrap metal business, you have to ask yourself about the quality of the man managers. Minor despots who have over inflated delusions of grandeur think nothing of subjecting the staff to diatribe in the forlorn hope of trying to exercise their authority and produce a sense of self worth. My advice. There are plenty of other gyms within the Birmingham area with a new nuffield opening on 5 ways birmingham city centre. If you are looking for a job which pays bare minimum and there is no chance of progression due to the management "circle" Then this is the place for you.

I was a member at greens a year ago and because two or three ladies on reception who also took classes were just well only one word for it jealous made my membership there uncomfortable and actually ended in me being banned!! Yes hard to believe but it's true ! I thoroughly enjoyed the classes being a less mills fan and did a lot of working out there! I use to get seedy looks and they use to bicker about me, they make there little group and stand close to me to make me feel uncomfortable. The management was non existent and I did make a complaint about one of the male staff making unsuitable comments towards me which was handled by the manager sending a teller saying ' oh we apologise this shouldn't be happening'. It still did! I went from a regular goer virtually everyday to once a week. I didn't turn up for a week and a half and I got a phone call asking for £78 I payed it then the women put the phone down! I called back up and they then put the phone down again! I left went to another gym which is fab but only thing is they don't have the Less mills classes, body attack body pump etc... So I'm wondering now nuffield have taken over is it still the same there or has things changed?

I use to go to the gym in Shipley, but the intructers are not very nice and not friendly. When your in a class the instructor laugh at you when you do the routine wrong, also it's not a very friendly environment.overall the gym itself is very clean and tidy.

Despite recently being renovated and new equipment installed, a lot of the equipment is always broken and the gym and pool are dirty. The steam room is very dirty and out of order on a weekly basis. Almost as often the showers are freezing cold. Worst of all, the staff have an appalling attitude. They are always desperate to leave early, and clearly see the customers as a nuisance - it's difficult to believe that you are paying to go there! I could go on...

This is a very expensive an old gym. They can clearly not justify the price they charge. With two monthly payments in this gym you could cover the annual fee in a bigger, better, newer and cheaper gym in Liverpool like the Gym Group or Ben Dunne Gyms. Equipment is old, insufficient and customer service is terrible. If you try to cancel your membership they would make it very hard. I would clearly not recommend this gym to anyone.

Was a member when this opened. Had to leave as had health problem (broken back to be precise) and they still insisted in charging for the rest of the year followed by the extra as they continued to take money even after 2 letters to cancel. I gave them the benefit of doubt a couple of years later after a long recovery and watched the place go down hill during the year. It started to get very tired and the jacuzzis had a constant scum on them. Once when using the pool I was swimming length as one does and a water aerobics class started (fair enough) but as more customers entered, the staff just decided to move the lane ropes narrowing the lane both myself and another rcustomer was using to barely enough room for one person to swim. The other person (who I had never met) and I just looked in amazement at each other and then at the emberof staff who just shrugged shoulders smiled and walked off. The reception staff at the time was unbelievable. After asking a question for my partner she asked her name (fine) I said HIS name was ..... To the look of total discuss. She practically then laughed and said your not one of those gays!!!!!!! This was the final straw and after mentioning this the manager who didn't give a rats I left. Years on and only due to the availability of gyms in the area I looked at rejoining last year. After a long wait in the bar area I had the obligatory tour by a member of staff that frankly was uninterested. They refused/couldn't negotiate on price even though I mentioned both myself and my partner would join on an anytime price plan which would cost well in excess of £110 per month. I also commented on the cenliness being a contributory factor to the reason I previously left and asked how this had been improved. She said it was good but when I challenged her on this saying during the tour I noticed stains on the carpets in the gym area, orange body fat in the showers, tissues in the pockets of equipment and ground in dirt on the changing room doors the answers I got were..... no one has mentioned the showers. The carpets will have marks due to the use, some customers just leave them like that and the doors are wood so will just look like that! SEROUSLY!!!!! JUST SCRUB THEM!!! I also noticed certain customers using the pool wearing normal underwear not only is this disgusting and unhygienic but do greens not have a policy to stop this (most places do, believe me I know people who have worked in the leisure industry for many many many years) let alone it being I appropriate as it does to hold things in/properly and the ones I saw on this occasion left nothing to the imagination as they were white - ok exaggeration dirty shade of grey. I have since become a member of fusion in syston and although this Is a local authority facility and a lot smaller it is clean with friendly helpful staff, good equipment and less then £40 anytime use. I haven't used the classes yet and I know it probably doesn't have the variety of greens but at least I feel like a valued customer rather than a £££££££££. Stay away from greens and save your money.

I was a member of this gym for six years. I was banned from the club when a conversation I was having with other members was overheard by a member of staff, this was then reported to the manager and the next thing I know I have received a letter in the post with a months membership (£54) banning me. I notice from previous comments that I am not the first person this has happened to. This is disgusting behaviour by the Manager, to this day I still do not know what the Manager looks like, he locks himself away in his office and all he seems to do is send nasty letters to loyal members, banning them from the club. I was on the verge of leaving Greens anyway, they have cut many classes over the past year and apart from the freelance instructors who are very good, the quality of the actual staff is very poor. Freenlance instructors have had their classes cut, no doubt in order to save money, for the new non-profit making Nuffield!!! I was giving them the benefit of the doubt, so in hindsight they forced me to join another club. I have since joined Bannantnes which is saving me £23 pounds a month and I get to do loads more classes, taken by instructors who actually want to be there and not just going through the motions (like Greens). So if anyone is reading this, then DONT waste your money on Greens, they dont care about loyality and NEVER respond to the comments you may leave if you are at all dissatisfied with any aspect of the club. I guess thats what you get when a little man with a God complex is put in charge.

Having been a member for over 10 years and also fit for life member,it was sad to give up membership. reason for leaving greens is due to poor customer service experienced from membership office staff and the manager. Staff too busy to discuss needs of existing members and manager does not return calls or if he does it is too late. Greens WAKEFIELD withdraw a full years membership over £500 without consent and when challenged no apology and explanation. Always paid upfront by cheque only platinum was paid by direct debit every month. Also the fob deposit which new members have to pay was an issue to claim my deposit back. Greens WAKEFIELD stole from my bank account and had to fight to get money back. Do not give your bank details to this branch. Would have considered staying if issues were tackled professionally. joined village gym excellent and value for money.

Some staff are good, he clientele & fitness instructors are good. The manager, customer care, security & HQ appalling. My locker was broken into & everything taken. The management rely on "left at your own risk" (which is not the get out they think it is (speak to the office of fair trading). The booking in procedure is poor & they have no idea what to do in the event of a theft, saying "it's your loss, not ours" (only partly true as their locker was damaged & someone may've entered as a trespasser) & the manager was rude & of no use whatsoever. It turned out that the CCTV wasn't working, but they said it wouldn't have prevented my loss (we'll never know now). They did no internal investigation at all. No checks on who'd been in & no questions asked of reception. They left it to me to call police - who told me that Greens told them the CCTV wasn't working - yet their manager initially denied this to me although he'd told police different. They care about getting your money & not you. After some argument & a 'letter before action' their HO offered me two months free membership. I refused it & ended my membership. Also equipment that goes wrong takes an eternity to get fixed. Not good if it's the only machine of its kind in the gym.

Have to admit Greens Liverpool is cheap and cheerful compared to some places - you can get a monthly sub for c £45. But there is absolutely no excuse for the lazy characters lounging around the pool area when, as employees, they are responsible for safety and hygiene. The saunas floors are always inches deep in water for several hours - especially towards the end of the night and also are not heated to the optimum temperature - the dry Sauna in particular is often just warm. You can guess that the low temperatures and the standing water is an invitation to bacteria and germs to flourish. Most paying members do not seem to use flip flops so I can only imagine what they must be exposed to as they slosh in and out of the saunas! The "Life guard" staff need to be walking about , clearing away the water and removing the often large amounts of rubish that members seem to abandon in the saunas. Instead of which several of them noticeably hog the member's relaxation area seating whilst shamelessly texting, chatting and generally skiving.

I rejoined Greens Health and Fitness :Chingford after a year or so of absence and am really wishing I hadn't. The place has deteriorated; it is very difficult to get booked into classes and there are always problems with facilities being 'out of service.' One really infuriating factor is that customers are sent vouchers as a 'reward' for loyalty just as the fees are hiked up, and for the last two years, half the vouchers were past their sell-by-date by the time they arrived. It is nearly impossible to talk to a member of staff. They are 'not in the office' and they absolutely do not return calls. Interest in customer service is non-existent and some staff are breathtakingly rude. I am lucky in that my membership is on a monthly contract. My husband was naive enough to take out a year's contract. Although the payment has been taken from his account, he has twice been told in front of other customers that he shouldn't be using the facilities as he hasn't paid his membership fee. It was a lovely little gym when it opened. I was one of the first to join. What happened?

Whatever you do, do not go into a contract with these people. I was deceived into entering a contract with them and they increased the cost of my membership and stated that it was part of the clause. Also, since my membership expired, they have been collecting money from my account, claiming that I did not write a letter to warn them that my membership is over.It seems all they care about is money. I was ill for a couple of months and they did not even send an email to check up on me. And I was also made to pay for those months I was absent. Some of the staff members are also very rude and condescending. On a good note, they have good facilities and equipment.

I have been a member of greens wakefield for many years but will not be renewing my membership. A long time greens member who I know very well has recently been thrown out of the gym because she dared to criticize the present managements running of the gym and said she would not recommend the gym in future to friends at this time. A manager claimed that this member was rude and disruptive towards staff on many occasions but apart from one isolated incident did not provide any evidence to back up the claims. She was escorted out of the building in an aggressive manner like a sacked employee. Knowing this person well I know these claims are untrue. If you want a friendly gym with management that listen to constructive criticisms do not think of joining greens wakefield.

Pushy sales team make a host of promises when you sign up but do not deliver. I was assured that the friend who referred me would receive a £20 cheque in the post if I joined greens. 6 months later this is yet to materialise and the reception team have been extremely rude and unhelpful when I have asked about this. Similarly, I was charged £10 for a trial day at the gym and told that I would be reimbursed if I joined. Once I had signed up I was told that this was no longer possible. The gyms facilities are average to poor. I have never been shown how to use any of the equipment or offered advice. Reception staff are unfriendly. Pervy old men sit in the pool area and outside the steam room staring at women which makes most of us feel uncomfortable.

Beware, I joined the Chingford branch of Greens early this year and decided to cancel as it is ridiculously expensive at over £60 a month and the facilities are lacking and out dated and the staff are almost non existent. I went into the gym with my complaints but none of the staff were interested and I told them I was going to cancel my membership, I then did so after ensuring that the imminent direct debit had cleared my account. I have since been bombarded with calls from a debt collection agency and am now having to involve the OFT.
