“Card holder + umerella holder”

★★★☆☆

written by Austinv374 on 07/03/2016

I have just bought a GXT model golf trolley. First impressions on unpacking good. But dear oh dear why provide an umbrella holder and scorecard holder that cannot be fitted and used at the same time. What was the designer thinking of. Solution is to by a Powacady carholder that attaches to the umberella clamp. Why didn't Stowamatic follow tha design?

“Totally unreliable product”

★☆☆☆☆

written by petergluckstein on 18/11/2015

I bought a Stowamatic electric golf trolley because it was inexpensive and I figured it would do the job. Big mistake. I had to send it back twice almost immediately because the electrics wouldn't work. Then a buckle broke from the strap that holds the bag on. Then the start button fell off (although it still worked.) The umbrella holder broke the first time I used it. Now, 15 months after i bought it, a pin holding the three main struts together has come out and bent. They want to charge me £50 to send it back to be fixed or £20 just for the part (I offered to fix it myself if they send me the part). They don't seem to have heard of the Sale of Goods Act or recognise that their product should work for rather longer than the period of warranty. Do yourself a favour and don't buy from them.

“Not robust enough!”

★★☆☆☆

written by Griffin-Alt1986 on 31/08/2015

This trolley has not been tested by the manufacturer in game conditions, otherwise the niggly problems i've experienced would not have occurred. The upper bag securing strap is poorly attached to the curved back support.Knowing the pressure this fitting is under, it looks and is flimsy. I've resecured it with cable ties, and it now is robust. The rubber tyres are of a poor design, with a weakness on the inner and outer part of the tyre. The tyre splits on this and comes off. The company does not supply replacement tyres only wheels at nearly £50 a pair. This is unsatisfactory, as apart from the wasted wheels, the tyres will go again in 12 to 18 months. I'm now using hedgehog tyres at £14 a pair which only last a year, but I can't see the trolley lasting much longer.

“Don't bother - Stowamatic Custome Care does not care”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 277Cunningham on 03/10/2014

Bought a Stowamatic GTS trolley in October 2012. Only play once a week or less. After 12 months battery charger broke. Replaced battery and charger (not from Stowamtic as they were unhelpful. Battery connection kept coming loose. Had to change the connectors. Now the alloy frame has split in two where there is a bolt over the axle. These trolleys are not worth the money.

“Customer care Okay”

★☆☆☆☆

written by keithboro on 16/09/2014

All of the add ons feel like they were designed for another model, poor I had about 8 months good running out of my GTX 36 hole model, the the charger packd in. Before that the plastic plinth that the battery stands on was cracked in 2 places and falling to bits, very poor design But, eventually i got through to a customer care number where the person was helpful, just took my delivery address and who I had purchased through, Amazon, then switly dispatched me a replacement charger and plinth. With this they redeemed themselves a little, but the product is poor.

“worst buy ever”

★☆☆☆☆

written by MareliCleveland242 on 16/08/2014

at first glance this seems like a good golf cart, until it rains. I have replaced the circuit board twice and it has stopped working again. Stowamatic do not want to know and can not help. I have tried to get another board with no luck at all. I would warn all to stay clear of this cart it is not fit for the purpose.

“Stay clear ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Antwan424 on 30/06/2014

I bought my trolley and after a few months the control panel under the speed switch packed in. Ordered parts which I had to pay for because they were being sent to Dublin. Parts did not work. They said they could do no more for me. Cost 110 to get it repaired. Then the battery went. This trolley is just a waste of money and you get what you pay for I suppose.

“Dont go there”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 137Breen on 11/06/2014

Since buying this trolley it has continually failed due to rain. I can now only use it in dry weather despite it going back for repair after only 5 uses. The pins on the plug broke and Stowmatic wouldn't send me a replacement under warranty without photos and a lot of fuss so I bought a plug from China (90p). I put a copy of their "helpful" reply on the course notice board to warn others. The pins sheared on the wheels and now the contol unit is stuck on speed 7. Recommended by Woosnam. He should hang his head in shame

“Waste of money”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/02/2014

Just after the guarantee ran out the trolley started to disintegrate. The chassis has broken in 2 places, the handle connection likewise. Even the wheels are cracking up. I've also replaced the battery leads. Simply the worst trolley I have ever bought. I wish I had read some of the other reviews before I bought it, their comments seem to match mine. There is a plus- the battery is going well!!

“Steer well clear”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 19/11/2013

Wish I had seen this review forum before I bought this trolley earlier this summer. Only worked properly first time used. Ever since there have been electrical issues. Sent replacement part which was useless. Sent back for repair 3 weeks ago & still waiting for it to be returned. Had one e mail acknowledgement but since then 3 e mails have been ignored. After care service is non existent. For 2 days have been attempting to contact by phone but no answer. Only gave 1 star rating as lowest option. Would not recommend this product/company to my worst enemy.

“Dont touch this”

written by on 18/09/2013

Bought one new, neeeded replacement after much haggling within couple of months. Frame snapped within 10 months, handle cracked then final straw was when wheel snapped in 3 places unable to repair or source replacement. No response from Sports HQ after emails sent or phone not answered. Save yourself money & hassleand buy a decent brand. My last trolley lasted over 13 years.

Had the first one 6 months before the battery packed up. After 1 year the power button failed. The replacement growls and the battery doesn't last. Have given up and bought secondhand.

written by on 22/07/2013

the electric connections broke after 4 times usage which cost money to repair, then after a years usage the trolley just cut out when any pressure was put on motor ( even on flat ground ). Very dissatisfied with the trolley and also the follow up answers to my questions. Would not touch with a bargepole

“GTS trolley review”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 26/07/2012

I bought the GTS trolley in February 2012. I am now on my THIRD replacement!!issues with wheels falling off, frame breaking, axle shearing, electronic controls packing up, wheels not 'free wheeling'...The worst purchase I've ever made. By no stretch of the imagination this product, in my experience cannot ever be considered to be 'FIT FOR PURPOSE' it certainly does not do 'what it says on the tin'...I am now considering filing a claim at the Small Claims Court. In fairness to Sportshq they have always replaced the trolley under warranty, however this takes at least two weeks each time so I have had to hire buggies adding to my out of pocket expenses and non-availability of use. In total I have been without a trolley about a collective 5/6 weeks. The latest replacement was delivered 24 July....straight out of the box one wheel was ok, one would not freewheel, thus goes round in circles! There appears to be a fundamental lack of liaison between 'Customer Service' dept and their 'SHIPPING' dept, what was promised to be sent out was usually wrong or incomplete. I once had my trolley sent back to me minus wheels, battery and battery charger, after it had been 'repaired' !!...about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. All I wanted was a trolley to carry my bag around a golf course without breaking down, not much to ask, but when in use I now find myself constantly worrying about 'what is going to fail next?' Other colleagues who have the same GTS have had identical problems so it is not just me! The trolley is basically OK but is let down by poor QA in component manufacture and by QA in Customer Service. I guess you get what you pay for, read all other reviews keeping in mind most people don't comment and vote with their feet....be warned (Caveat Emptor)....it seems to me to be like the old Lada's or Skoda's, more show than substance!

I am also on my third replacement having experienced the same problems. First the axle broke, then on the next replacement the frame snapped virtually above the same point. Controls worked when they wanted, set at a speed then attempt to turn down and no reaction. Front wheel poorly designed and virtually impossible to go in a straight line, hence putting stress on the trolley frame and battery
I agree 'Not Fit For Purpose', If the new replacement fails then I shall file a Small Claims'. I have no quarrels with Sports HQ as their service over the years has been excellent, however Stowamatic should be dropped from their range as are ruining their reputation

“Stowamatic & Sports HQ: A Deadly Duo”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ScottBrady on 17/01/2012

I bought the Stowamatic from Sports HQ. At first it seemed fine: quick and responsive. Within a few months it stopped. It was picked up and 'repaired'. 20 yards off the 1st tee in the Scottish Seniors. - phutttt! Not a good tournament. Sports HQ sent another - not new, but something from the returns department. Reluctantly, accepted as needed for competitions. Needless to say this one broke down too. After a long e-mail discussion (over 50 messages in the thread), I was sent a new trolley. It went along ok for a couple of months, then the controller went wonky and the pins in the wheels broke (amazing to see a trolley going in circles). I asked for repairs and was told that I was out of warranty - the second 'new' one was only 6 months old. I was offered 2 wheel pins for £5.99, but bought 10 for £1.60 from eBay. The 'simple' repair (the video is a hilarious contrast with reality) took the hammer of a blacksmith to effect. So, onto the 2010 Scottish Seniors. The controller was still wonky but worked with a bit of fiddling. Good start, the as we played to the 6th green - yep, you guessed it - phuttttt! Dust gathers over what looks like a fairly new trolley. I have given up and bought a PowaCaddy push trolley which works fine on links courses. PS if you want a real laugh, buy the umbrella attachment!!
