How can this be legal?

We had the terrible misfortune of buying from these guys recently.

Firstly as others have complained they will set you up a credit account still without stating the APR clearly as they are legally required to do so, nor making it clear they are giving you credit. This will show on your credit rating.

Well aware of this when we checked out we chose the option to not have a credit account. When we checked out we were told their website was not working and to call them to place the order which we did.

We told the guy on the phone we specifically did not want a credit account and wanted to just pay now.. he agreed and took the order....

Later that month we received our credit account statement. The guy on the phone had set up a credit account for us.. directly against our stated wishes.

When we telephoned to complain we were told they have a signed credit agreement... signed by me apparently!

It would seem the staff are under some kind of bonus to get new credit accounts, and are willing to lie and fake applications to reach their targets.

They are a disgrace.
