“Dishonest prices”

★☆☆☆☆

written by a.dennis2 on 09/05/2015

Bought a pair of shoes for £25.00, was going to buy another pair in a different colour but the price had gone up overnight to £32.00, several days later they are saying the price has now been reduced to £24.00 from £32.00 thiking you are saving £8.00 when in fact you are only saving £1.00 It makes me wonder how often this is done.

“Price fixing”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Isaias181 on 09/05/2015

I have caught Kandco bang at it, a few weeks ago the bakerfield 2 seater leather sofa was £1049 which was not on offer or in a sale, checking last week they had raised the price by £900 to £1949, today they are on sale for £1401... in an apparent "sale" so they raise it by 900 quid.. then lower it by 500 quid and tell you your getting a bargain when in reality one is paying £400 more than the original price they advertised the sofas at. Fool me once shame on you and all that.. having been a long term customer I am closing my account and looking for a more ethical company to shop with, which will prove pretty tough in itself but their must be companies out there who will not rip people off so blatantly as KandCo.

“Brilliant until I need a replacement.”

★★☆☆☆

written by rierie on 28/09/2014

I bought a tablet from Kays (KandCo.com) last August along with a 4 year replacement guarantee, it originally stopped working in January 2014, so I called the number on the replacement guarantee and was told it was up to the manufacturer to replace it, so I went through everything, the manufacturer repaired it then it was faulty again, the person from Kays who told me it was up to the manufacturer to sort out was wrong and should have offered a replacement there and then, I've been using the manufacturer for repair and every time it comes back with a different fault. So I contacted Kays and as it's a year old (they're ignoring the fact it was faulty after 5 months) they are fobbing me off saying I need to talk to the manufacturer although the manufacturer is telling me to talk to the retailer. Even after explaining I have paid for a 4 year replacement guarantee they're asking me to prove the fault, which I know is definitely not up to me to do. After going round in circles with customer services, phoning and being told I'd be contacted back (I wasn't) I made a complaint, which was ignored completely. Kays is really good at delivering products, just no good if anything goes wrong, as I've also had furniture with screws missing, asked for the screws to be sent and ended up going to a hardware shop and buying what was missing, as they couldn't even find the screws even after being given the product and part numbers. Even one of the emails made no sense at all, no-one has read (or if they did, they didn't understand) any of the emails I sent in full.

“Change to Rewards”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Greer334 on 03/08/2014

After being an agent for years I always looked forward to saving my rewards for Christmas when my children were small and now they are both in their 30s l hoped to save them for a few holiday clothes but the platinum rewards are not worth a carrot so I've just made my final payment to Kay's after all these years and will never spend another penny they have changed the way the rewards are paid by sneaking new rules in and not informing customers they have gone greedy and I don't want to be part of a rip off company .

“Rewards that stink ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Garyjohn53607 on 01/08/2014

I have been a long standing customer with Kays for years earning rewards for purchases and spending thousands of pounds . However they have changed there policy and I am in there view a Platinum customer which earns the highest percentage of rewards tier . However now unless to buy items on the spot and not in sale you dont get anything for being a customer this is bad policy and it should be changed . However I shall not be spending another penny with the company and shall close my account as its not worth the paper its written on and there customer services is so bad they need to get a grip or they may go out of business ! Anyone holding an account with them would be better terminating there account .

If it wasn't for the fact kays use yodel for delivery i would give them more stars ,parcels either dont turn up at all. Then you constantly have to chase kays as they never seem to contact you regarding where parcels are or why you have not received them,or parcels turn up damaged.About time they changed couriers

“constant battle to gain any type of rewards”

★★☆☆☆

written by Aracelyx330 on 17/05/2014

you only get rewards (commission) on anything bought full price, not on payments made, so if you used £20 of rewards off the price of a £500 tv, uve lost out on what would of been £50 rewards..oh n 4get anything in sale..i spent over a 1000 on a cpl of tvs last yr n never received a penny. just had a 25 min battle over a £20 reward voucher, used it cos i spent over the 50 specified, sent the item bk, re ordered £277 worth of goods, n they reversed the voucher saying it wasnt their fault i returned. only my persistence, n an extra 25mins on my fone bill got it re instated..this will be paid off..n never used again...ive been an agent 26yrs..but ive had enough, plenty more catalogues out there with less hassle.

“Bogus Balances and Higher Direct Debits”

★☆☆☆☆

written by mikeydw on 27/04/2014

I have never posted on one of these places before, but with my current experiences of K & Co, which is Shop Direct, I must warn people about their Direct Debit Payments being taken each month, when a consumer buys all their items on Buy Now Pay Later. I merely assumed by continuing my DD payments, and paying off the full item balance before the item matured, so no interest was charged on the item, that this DD payment would reduce the overall balance on my account and subsequently, any up and coming BNPL item. This is incorrect. So incorrect that all those monthly payments made on time were in fact going straight into Shop Direct's account, and no reduction in balance on my items purchased. In one case, their statement said my direct debit would increase to £20.90 to reflect my buy now pay later item due for maturity within the next statement. I have documented evidence that not only did shop direct ( K&Co ) take my £20.90, I also paid in full the BNPL item of £177 before maturity, thus avoiding the interest being applied. Not only this, prior to this payment of £20.90 and paying for the BNPL item, I had a balance on account showing as £5. As mentioned, I had to wait until this balance was near zero to know what they were doing. After the £20.90 and £177 was paid I checked my next statement. I had a balance on account of £365!! People WATCH OUT. BUSTED!! They have been increasing my account balance to justify the regular DD payments. No items were purchased, all items paid in full before interest could be applied, so where does £365 come from? I am now in a legal battle to force them to provide evidence of my account balances/payments/interest charges. I have checked and re-checked, the £20.90 has reduced nothing, disappeared into their account. I suspected this was happening, and deliberately purchased all items via BNPL for the last 18 months, which means any initial balance had been paid in full, which left only BNPL items, which I have paid off in full before interest was applied. This means the last 12 months DD payments, which varied, as explained above, totalling nearly £270 has been paid to them, overpaid to them. I knew I had to clear any previous 20 weeks purchases before being able to spot this error with their system, hence it has taken well over a year to be in the position to formally complain to them, as you cannot take monthly DD unless it actually reduces the purchase cost of a BNPL item. It had not and I have the proof. What did they do when I made my complaint? After 2 initial phone calls each lasting over an hour each, total denial, saying someone senior will call me back, never did. One adviser advised me to reclaim the DD via my bank and under the DD scheme, so I did. What did they do? They applied all 12 monthly payments reclaimed by me back to my account then sent me an arrears demand, plus £400 bogus interest payments reapplied to my account. Obviously I called them up, angry, dismayed, appalled, and quite frankly shocked at the arrogance, total denial they had been taking payments from me when they should not and refusing to investigate my claims, even after providing hard written evidence. I might add, I am a Managing Director of a UK Limited Company, a customer of 7 years with them, and never missed a payment in my time with them, other than my total refusal to pay their arrears charges they are now claiming because I took back my monthly payments that were going straight into their coffers!!. I would recommend anyone who applies their account as I do, by purchasing from a catalogue on BNPL only and ensuring all items are paid before interest is applied, to check their statements carefully, the fault is with their automated system, it increases a DD payment before the BNPL item has matured, if you pay this item in full, the monthly DD does not reduce anything, it goes nowhere, it is in fact you giving them free monthly money. When you point this out to them, they threaten you with court action to recover monies that they had no claim on in the first place. I had 2 items left on BNPL at this point when they refused to investigate fully my findings, totalled nearly £1100, I called them up and stated I wish to pay in full any items left on my account, including the bogus £270 12 months DD payments which I accepted I will have to seek compensation through the courts, I was told instead of £1370 to close my account, I had to pay them £1700!! I cannot write here what I told that customer service person, but I can assure you I gave that person an earful. I went on-line on their account, I paid in full the 2 items, and I am now in a legal battle to dispute the bogus charges they have applied to my account. What bother's me the most, is it matters not that you conduct your account in a good manner, loyal customer for 7 years, what bother's me the most is a company taking my hard earned money via DD every month when they were never entitled to do so, and when this is brought to their attention their first response is to threaten you with court action to recover monies they are not entitled to. People beware, if this has happened on my account with their automated statement calculator, it is happening to many thousands of people. Your money is being taken from your accounts, it could well be far more than you should be paying. If this review allows it, I will update any outcome so people can make valid decisions about who they sign contracts with.

“No communication between kays and delivery people,”

★☆☆☆☆

written by piPope163 on 21/03/2014

Ordered a washing machine and was given date for installation and delivery.I paid for connection and to take away old machine.I phoned the day before to kays and was told I did not need to disconnect my machine and that it would be done by delivery men. When the delivery was made I was told by delivery men they could not connect the machine as it had not been disconnected and that this was a continual occurance due to kays staff not giving the correct info to customers.I would liked to have known that I had to disconnect my washer. The result was that the machine had to be returned and now I have to wait for it to be credited back to my account. No one would admit that it was the fault of wrong information being given out by kays even though phone calls are recorded. The attitude of kays staff to loyal customers is disgusting. No managers were available and the promise of a call back has not happened. It was a Beko washer .I do not know if this happens with all makes of washing machine But I suspect it does as kays do not care once they have your order. The attitude of the delivery man was like "Well do you want us to leave you the machine or not ".Well NO THANKS .I am not that desperate to be treated with no respect ,as a good customer.

“Commission rip off”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 13/02/2014

I earned £140 commission and unfortunately got made redundant from my job. Being responsible person I did not order anything from the catalogue as I knew I was not in a position to make repayments but kept the commission as a safety net for a winters coat as being on pension credit money was tight. I have just managed to secure employment , went to place an order only to find my commission I previously earned has been completely wiped. No doubt they will safe guard themselves by saying it is in their terms and conditions but what a dreadful way to treat their customers who I have been with for decades. They have no regard for us or our loyalty. Modern day daylight robbery.

“SHODDY TREATMENT OF LOYAL CUSTOMER”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 01/02/2014

After 50 years of being a loyal and reliable customer, I cannot understand why I have not received a catalogue from K&Co after ringing and e-mailing over the past year. I bought goods to the value of £2K last year and yet they have not sent me a catalogue for two seasons despite ringing on a regular basis. I am disgusted with their attitude and each time one of the advisers have said they will look into it or that the catalogues are out of print despite my daughter ordering one as a new customer and it arriving a week later. The advisers on occasion have said that I will receive brochures or I can go online but I do not use a PC and what good is a brochure when it isn't showing the items that I require? I am housebound and always relied on the catalogue for gifts at Christmas and birthdays and household goods. I don't know what is going on. Why do they still have an option on the telephone to order a catalogue if there aren't any left (allegedly)? I have also e-mailed my complaint but received no reply and have now resorted to sending a letter direct to their head office but I won't hold my breath. As for the very few people who have written a "good" review of K&Co, all I would say to them is, wait because its just a matter of time..........

Under both the Sales of Goods Act and the Consumer Contracts Regulations, if the item isn't fit for purpose, or if it doesn't do what its supposed to do then you are entitled to either a refund or a replacement. Read the sale of goods act on the Which? website. Another option is to contact Samsung and request a repair under your warranty
