Bought this a lot of years ago because of the need for a fairly beefy strimmer and not wanting to go petrol for storage reasons, but all it did was cut like hell for maybe 15 seconds then have to manually feed the twin lines through the spool. So i ended up repeatedly re-wrapping the line, trying different line and taking apart the spool until i realised this thing is just the biggest piece of **** gardening tool that's ever existed, and i refuse to sell or even give it away because no one on Earth should have to put up with this ****.

Bought mine several years ago. As per all the other reviews - line kept breaking after 10-15 seconds. Thought it was my fault, not fitting the spool properly or feeding the line incorrectly or something. Moved house, didn't need a strimmer. Now I do so I thought I'd check the net for some instructions to check how the line should feed. Found these reviews instead. Feel better knowing its not my fault. Feel worse knowing I wasted my time and money.

Very poor quality in all areas. It is notthe easist strimmer to use. The spool snap all the time. It has a bizzare angle. I see my neighbours find ti easy to hold and use theirs strimmers. It is so hard to find the replacment spool in the shops, you have to troll the internet for it. I have had mine since 2008 but l would never ever recommend it.

I absolutely agree with all the previous 6 comments. Homebase didn't give a damn and Sovereign weren't much better. What the hell happened to customer service, quality control etc etc.
SO, as far as Homebase and Sovereign are concerned, I WILL be, speaking metaphorically, voting with my feet on this. AND so too will the average of 10 people of those i have told that follow suit and not use either of them again.
C'mon people, we consumers have an awful lot of power at our finger tips, so in these 'austere' times its time we started using it.
Thanks for reading this and i hope it has been of some use.

Hello Keith from Watford
I am experencing the same, the line does not feed and snaps after about 10/15 seconds. It has a powerful 600w motor but what is the use of all that power if the cutting edge ie the line keeps on snapping

Handle locking nut on the Sovereign GGT600L is inadequate. Line jams frequently.

I would never recommend this make to anyone, it was a complete waste of my money. It is just very cheaply put together I think.

Homebase are poor and this Sovereign GGT600L is the first time and last time I will Purchase anything there especially Garden Equipment. When I went to purchase spare trim line for a trimmer that is otherwise good. They said they longer sell parts for this machine as it is discontinued. I contact Homebase by E-mail who said they could not help. Telephoned helpline who were okay but part out of stock. Looking to try to use alternative trimmer none fitted spool so far. Advice Stick to top brands only, like we did with the lawnmover parts easy to get.

We have only used this Sovereign strimmer twice and the spool has jammed both times - very disappointed - certainly would not recommend it.

This strimmer is not very good. It has a good 600watt motor but the line does not feed, mine broke off after about 10 seconds of use.

Absolutely agree........ have same problem with spool feed snapping after 5/10 seconds of use. Tried to get replacement from HOMBASE at Maidstone,Kent. Dont stock any more and advised to contact the Makers of the strimmer.
