AccurateReviewer's review of Regatta Cane and Garden Furniture Chelmsford, Essex

“Avoid this company”

★☆☆☆☆

written by AccurateReviewer on 05/09/2013

I ordered garden furniture.

I organised a crane so that the furniture could be dropped over the house onto my terrace and gave two months notice of the date of the crane,

They failed to deliver on the date I had booked the crane and it was not until some ten days later that they came (with no notice) and tried to walk it through the house - but as it was wider than the standard door size it would not fit.

They have refused a refund on the basis that they only promise kerbside delivery and it is for me to arrange access. But I had already spent over £2,000 on a crane for access which was wasted, because they did not deliver when they had promised to,

They were rude and even threatened to call the police ???? They now will not reply to e mails or phonecalls and steadfastly refuse a refund.

I have wasted £1,900 on garden furniture and £2,3000 on a crane, and have ended up with nothing except hassle and a "not our problem" attitude.

Regattagarden's Response to AccurateReviewer's Review

We would like to defend ourselves regarding the review made against us.

An order was placed on 10 May 2013, for delivery in either September or October at the request of the customer. The reason for this was due to a number of furniture items from other companies being delivered to the customer’s property on that particular day, including a £40,000 sofa. The crane was not booked for our furniture alone.

We called the customer to explain we had complications with our delivery drivers and were unable to deliver on the date in question. We explained that we will deliver the items 3 days later, the response from the customer was that it would suit them better as there was ‘so much going on’ with the delivery of other items and that as the items were fairly light they were easy to deliver. We both agreed to the revised delivery date.

Our delivery driver arrived at the customer’s house on the confirmed revised delivery date, unfortunately the customer’s doorway access was not sufficient and we were unable to place the items inside the property. The driver found the customer to be extremely rude.

We then received a phone call at our head office from the customer, who was extremely abusive to one of our team members. The phone call was then passed over to a manager who mentioned the police due to the abusive phone call. We have received one email from the customer; the reason for not responding was that we needed to liaise with the manufacturer as to whether we are able to receive a refund for the goods due to the length of time passed. After we received confirmation from the manufacturer, the manager left a voicemail on the customer’s mobile requesting the card details for a full refund.

We have been trading for over 20 years and we always try to ensure customer satisfaction. Unfortunately on this particular occasion we were unable to communicate with the customer. The customer has received a full refund.

I received a full refund after I had posted and made them aware of the reviews. They offered me the refund on condition that I took down the reviews. As I was legally entitled to a refund, I don't see why I need to take down the reviews, but it does show the power of review sites.

I think you can make your own judgement based on what they have written - self indictment I would say. I thinkmost people know that whether the manufacturer gives the retailer a discount or not has nothing to do with the rights of the customer and they have admitted not repying after being adamant that no refund was due.

and I'd like to see where you can buy a sofa for £40,000! Perhaps someone can tell me?

Well, try this company at your own risk!

I will need to go into contact with unhappy customers before initiating any legal action against this company. Any ideas?
